3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Do people think that the partyhats can last until a week or two before Christmas? Because I just had a thought. Perhaps the clan that owns the majority of them will hold them until the inevitable pre-Christmas santa hat crash. Then they sell their partyhats and buy up the cheep santa hats. That way they a) can use thier GP on something so they don't have to worry about the 2.1B cap and b ) buy out another discontinued item. Just a thought that came to me, it's late and I have studied my intelligence away so, if you see flaws in this, please poke holes all over it.

Graph
I have been trolling through the old tipit times and came across Duke Freedom's old graph of partyhat price. Of cource these are only up to January 2006. I am wondering if anyone has any other sort of graphs of discontinued items that they have been keeping over the years? If you have them all from the begining that would be great but even if I could patch together a bunch of old ones to get a full timeline from 2003-2009 that would be sweet. I know I have found one on RSwiki before that was from the introduction of the GE but I can't seem to find it anymore which sucks. If someone could help me that would be much appreciated. EDIT: On the chart on RSwiki you could move your cursor over any point and it would tell you the price and date at that point. Anyone know where I can find that?

Thanks. Hmmm historically (from what I recall, I could be wrong) Santas rise right before Christmas and then fall afterwards. Back in the day when santas were actually cheep enough for a large number of players to buy there was actual demand around Christmas. Now, alot of the santas seem to be traded from merchant to merchant (yes there are still alot sold to real players who want it for the sake of a hat). The pro merchants buy up large numbers of santas durring the summer and wait it out until the noob merchants start buying them around the beggining of December. These noob merchants plan to hold until Christmas then dump, but the pros beat them to it. I am speaking from experience, I was a noob merchant last christmas (lost ~15M which was 20% my bank). I planned on dumping 4 days before Christmas, appearantly the pros decided 5 days before to dump.... Like anything I say in this topic, I am not an expert so you shouldn't take anything I say as pure fact. I simply speak from experience and hopefully others can learn from my loss.

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
Everyone seems to be trying to tie the different twitter clues to one another. What if they are all different updates? Last week we got like 5+ updates that were small on thier own but together they made a half decent update. Some sort of magic update OR spell check / font change AND Small farming update? Oh and the 'Reap what you sow' could refer to some sort of magic that hurts you but hits high, sort of like a reverse Vengeance. Thw whirlwind part of that tweet also sounds to me like some sort of magic spell.

Well, with even the lowest partyhats at around 250M (GE) it only takes 8 to get max cash. Asumming alot of these big merchers always have a couple hunded Mill on hand I would say closer to 6. I am just going to assume that most of the main players in the partyhat hoarding own alot more hats then that. That is the main reason behind my initial theory that the dump would come in shifts. Dump -> Use up cash pile on other items -> wait till price recovers -> dump -> Repeat

Oh man oh man oh man..
Before all these grave stones and items not showing to others on death people used to fear death, accept it, and move on when they died. It seems that the new Runescape is breeding a bunch of whiners who cry if they lag, die, don't get the drops they want. You know the saying 'with great risk comes great reward'? It seems that people these days (not just RS) expect things for free and without any sort of risk or consiquence. My advice to you is, accept it, move on. [hide=Off Topic] I'm not sure if this is the guy, but I know that someone alched a GS 2 days before Jagex implimented that. Yeah, huge slap in the face, but hey, its just how the game goes. [/hide]

Why this year hasn't been so bad
I have heard of randomly generated scenerios before in Runescape but never really understtod the term. What does this mean? Like will it be a quest the ends up being like a 'choose your own adventure' book? Because those books were the coolest!

contrary to that, if they reached a price where nobody can afford them and then dumped by a large clan, who would buy them? they're just like any other items. if there is no demand, then it crashes. demand is created by people who are willing and can afford to buy the items. (/economics nerd) Relatively speaking, If the supply is incredibly low, then the demand does not have to be high in order for them to rise. True, but in order for an item to rise the demand must be greater then the supply. So, it doesn't have to be high relative to other items' demand, it just has to be high relative to the supply. [/wannabe ecomimics nerd] EDIT: I know what I meant to say but reading what I wrote it isn't really appearant, oh well. Can someone give a status update on the street prices of all rares?

11-Nov-2009 - Send Us Your Specs 2009
I sent my specs as soon as I saw. It's nice to see that they actually care if the players can use the updates they make. PS-> I SURE hope they used this as a way to scan computers for macroing software. (did anyone read the Terms & Conditions?) because according to a person I met ingame, the major bot site from back in the day is up and running again and that can only lead to more restrictions and freedom removals in the future.

If you had an egg that was worth 30M on the GE and 200M on the street would you want to sell that egg for 200M or 30M? Sure, if you sell it in the GE the price will rise and the street and GE prices will come even closer, but what does that help you? You are out 170M of potential wealth. That's the problem, the street price is high so no one sells it in the GE thus making it even more unbuyable and pushing the street price higher. As for your second question, when the street price is 7x the GE price everyone hopes they can get one in the GE to sell for a 700% profit. That combined with the rarity of people selling to the GE just adds to the unbuyable-ness of it. Thus it is named 'bought out' meaning that there are none of that item currently 'in' the GE and good luck getting one even if you put in an offer 10 sec after a GE update.

Why this year hasn't been so bad
When Jagex revealed the RuneTek5 upgrade they said that it was like building a tower in the begining and just building more and more levels on top of it. Doing that it becomes weak and you have to go back and re-enforce it. If we take this and apply it to actual content it works much the same way. The old way jagex looked at things was more like a ladder, just build more and more rungs on the ladder without thinking about the lower ones. Now Jagex decided that, rather then having everything liniar and without much purpose to go back, they would breathe new life into the old content and even connect some otherwise seperate skills (living rock caverns anyone?). Now rather then a straight forward ladder I see the game more like the picture below. A complex network of content that you can take seperate paths to get to. Wanted to get high mining and fishing back in the day? Go power mine iron or granite then go power fish at shilo. Now if you want high mining you can gind through 100k ores and fish, or you can go to the living rock caverns and have it all in the same place! Mining, Fishing, and even some combat in there. Jagex isn't giving us big new things at high levels, rather, they are giving us unique way to get to those levels for when they put in more content later. This turned skills from being a grindfest from lvl 1 to 99 so you could get the big shiny cape into something that you think about, "do I want to grind for 35k exp/hour or do I want to have fun for 30k exp/hour?" tl;dr -> Jagex breathed new life into old skills and minigames so that we would have alternatives to grinding our way to the high leveled content that is inevitably coming. REMEMBER - It does not matter that you are there, rather, it is how you got there.

Falador's 4 Standing Stones?
I have a hard time thinking that jagex plans quests 5 years in advance...maybe general storylines, but far enough to put in actual items? I don't believe it. I think it is just something to add a bit of mystery and depth to an otherwise empty space.

I am starting to hear murmers ingame of a looming dump and the RSOF has a few people saying the dump is close. However, they still seem to be going for quite high street value. If you are planning on selling your hat, I would say try to get a good offer off the RSOF instead of selling in the GE, as the street price is still quite far above GE price. I can't wait to see the mass amounts of "selling phat for market price" threads when the dump happens.

09-Nov-2009 - Champions Challenge Update and Hairstyles
Can someone compile a list of the shops where you can buy the boxed eyes, vials, etc. Because I am F2P I can't do it, and my friend really would like to know where. I tried looking at the items database but there are no specific locations on there.

May I ask, How long per day did you play? Because it took me forever to get 1K total (that was all F2p but w/e) A 1300 total world from F2P would be far far too high. Currently it requires 1330 total to get onto the top 250 F2P list. So if we assume that there are ~250 people between 1300 and 1330 then there would only be 500 F2P players even eledgable to play on that world. I was seriously hoping that the F2P world would require a F2P total of 1000 but appearantly P2P levels count towards it. So a member with all skills 40 can even get into it.... I think there should be a couple of worlds made: 1000 F2P Total 1000 P2P Total 1500 P2P Total 2000 P2P Total Pure F2P World with over 1000 Total (I logged onto the current F2P world and all i saw was members and ex-members)

Has No One Heard?
I suggest that you gather the information BEFORE you post. Plus, if it has to do with twitter hints it would be best discussed in the twitter discussion topic. EDIT: Matt beat me to it!

Yeah, my blues aren't selling for 200k under med (what I paid for them). I thought I had a bit of a chance to flip masks before the rares market went in the tank, but appearantly not... EDIT: They all sold. It took around an hour to sell them at 200k under med.

Is there a specific time of the week or even time of day that these clans like to dump? Because there are more players online durring the weekends they may choose to dump on a Monday. That way all the offers that people put in on the weekend take the brunt of the dump. Also, with less people online, the clan will have a higher chance of being the first ones to put in their offers first for several days in a row before the weekend folk come.

How Rich are you?
At last check I am at 175M. Not bad for making it all in F2P.

People seem to be pushing pumpkins to their max. I saw someone selling one on the RSOF and got offers for phats+eggs, 450M cash, and eventually took a 500M offer i believe. Eggs are being passed around from merchant to merchant alot as well. Seems to me that the smart ones are selling the eggs off, but instead of just selling them all for a few M under street they are selling for over street. That way people believe that they are still going strong. At least, that's how I see things.

Ancient God
I am no expert in ancient civilizations, but I am sure that is the Pharoh told someone to do something, they had to do it right or they would be "replaced' (yes I mean killed). Plus, there was probably a number of people who's sole job was to stare at the stars to find the perfect layout to the pyramids. Again, alot of these ancient civilizations had alot of time on thier hands. They didn't have the internet after all. If I didn't have access to a computer I think I would build a bunch of giant head statues out of sheer boredom.

Breathing
I have the same problem. I went to my local doctor and he told me it was 'Annual Rhynitis' which is essentially allergies to a virus or something like that. It feels like I perminantly have a cold which is SOOOOO annoying. I have almost thought about converting to being a mouth breather but I get bad breath alot (curse you coffee!).

If what you say is correct then the crash is alot closer then we think, or the eatable buyout is stronger then I have ever seen in an item that is as common as eggs. How far do people think the crash will go? Drop 10M? 50M?
-
3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
They are simply to common to go up that much that fast in a short period of time. Plus, there is a point where public demand stops and it seems that merchants can't really get santas to get over 30M.
