Falador's 4 Standing Stones?

I have seen this area for a long time and beside from some Treasure Trail might lead here I haven't found any other use of them of this area...

The fact that there is four pillar with different symbol on them and one of them is split in half doesn't seem to be random or a joke to me...

Any idea what are they for? (Please no Treasure Trail location thanks...)

Well, there could be something planned with it, but fact is, we don't know. We also don't have a use for that machine in the slayer cave in the desert, a use for daeyalt, a lot of doors/gates are still locked for us.

We just have to be patient. :P

the waiting is really bothering me because the thing is that area has been around since 2004...all of the thing you mention, if my memory is correct, was released after 2004...

basically that area is probably one of the oldest unresolved used area...i don't think even prif is that old...

I think pre-summoning, they were expected to have some relation to it, but proved false.

I can't remember any of the symbols on the shapes except for a sun on one of them, I think it may be the one that is split in half.

In the distant past, I saw a RS post where someone asked if they could use the area as a gathering place for skillers. It seemed kinda far from a bank for that and I have never seen anyone there though I have explored the ruins and my guess is it will be in a future quest.

I believe that I once heard that it was a potential place for the soul altar, but that may have just been pure speculation.

give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

The oldest is probably either of Varrock Bank's locked rooms. Do you EVER get to get in there?

As a youngin (AKA in my newb days), I always wondered what the stones meant whenever I did clue scrolls that lead to it. Very mysterious... perhaps they will have something to do with a future grandmaster quest. EDIT: Might have something to do with the White knight storyline (that would be awesome).

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

Sailing jokes remind me of Cartman's theory about Kyle causing 9/11, haha.

But yeah, I think what may have happened is that they were once planned to be used for a future update and then never used (kinda like how a sequel to Monkey Madness never happened).

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

Probably for a quest, don't seem to be for anything else. We'll just have to wait and see what they do with them though :)

I have a hard time thinking that jagex plans quests 5 years in advance...maybe general storylines, but far enough to put in actual items? I don't believe it. I think it is just something to add a bit of mystery and depth to an otherwise empty space.

I would agree with this. It's been there as long as I can remember and there are no signs of a quest about it so I doubt there will be one.

The truth behind these stones are that Jagex is bad at completing things. They think way too far ahead, and then start creating unfinished products that never see a resolution until years in the future. They make random updates that just litter the game without any real purpose, then move on to another project.

Its like a lot of things in RS they add things for future use.

Theres a lot of places you can see but can't access yet.

They played no part in WGS I can tell you that for sure.

The rock that is split in half is the sun symbol, or the symbol on the ditched life rune. I believe one of the symbols is the one on the seers headband. One of the other symbols is earth I believe. I forget what the fourth one was. So with some connection to seers village someone that was on earth had life taken away? Before King Arthur 'left' earth to get healed he was fatally wounded. So he left to another dimension (in this case it is RS) until they are needed again. In the elf storyline there is a plot to take over Camelot I believe. So it's probably something unused related to the elf quests.

Arent all the symbols the rune symbols? I know for a fact the one that is split in half is the original life rune symbol which is cracked because it is not in the game anymore. And the general shape of the rocks do look like the summoning obelisks. In reality, theres nothing new about them. They probably influenced the shape of the summoning obelisks. Maybe they were even going to be used when they first started planning the skill as the obelisks are now. I really dont see any new speculation that could come of these. If anything they are less mysterious after the release of summoning then before.
