  1. I think I am going to cry. I had 2 eggs and had an offer in for 8 when they were trading for 100k under med (when they were 16M ea), all I had to do was press confirm offer! I was gonna buy and hold for this day and yet I chickened out....yeah fantastic. Thank you Abyssal and RSW44 for that info. I will now proceed to cry myself to sleep over a potential gain of fictional gold.
  2. ARGGGG~ I had a couple eggs before when they were stable but didn't think they would be bought out again. Yet ANOTHER failure. I have certainly lost my touch. I have gone from 1 failed merch since the GE to having 3 failed in the last month not to mention the amount I could have made either from buying and holding inflating items or keeping those eggs. Oh well, I have enough money to keep me happy in F2P so I shouldn't complain. What are the street prices of Phats?
  3. I am surprised that people didn't expect strength to be the most common 99. I am not sure why, perhaps because Runescape's main demographic is teenaged males, but it seems that the majority of players are obsessed with combat. And of cource, players seem to prefer strength over the other combat related skills. To the average player without the benefiet of a fan site like Tipit it may seem like skills like attack and defence are only good for weapons and armour rather then providing actual use like hitting more often (I have met a fair number of people who said attack did nothing to frequency of hits). The biggest surprise for me is that firemaking is only ~32k. It is the cheepest buyable skill (maybe cooking is cheeper depending on fish prices) and it is great exp/hour even using cheep methods. The only reason I can think of is the exact reason why it is so low. The majority of runescapers are lazy and can't be bothered to click 200k times.
  4. PLEASE NO!!! If you though clan manipulation was bad now, if they made the GE give you exp it would be 100x worse. [autotalker] JOIN "GE GP EXP" TO MAKE MILLIONS OF GP AND GET 99 BARTERING IN A WEEK!!! [/autotalker]
  5. *Searches old update threads for randomly capitalized letters that spell out a call for help* Ok, we can all pretty much agree that it wasn't spectacular. It was good and I enjoyed it. But what do you expect from a quickly made movie? Plus it's a first shot. I found it funny at times and it's nice to at least see Jagex HQ. I can't wait until the release more with slightly more experience in filming / writing and most of all, MORE SPOILERS!
  6. If they let players test, how many would they chose? Who? Why? If you chose high level players the low levels complain. If you chose low levels the high levels complain. If you let veterans test the newbies complain...I can do this all day. The only way to make everyone happy is to let everyone test it. But then again, isn't that just releasing the update? Short of letting thousands of players beta test from their own homes which is risky with people leaking or stealing updates all Jagex can do is just keep doing what they are doing now. Unless, of cource, they want to let P Mods beta test  Also, if you start giving some players advance info like that they will no doubt buy items related to that update to make profit off of Jagex's trust. I know I would  All that up there  was regarding in game updates. For something like the Adventurers Log it was actually a good idea. Release it but don't tell anyone about it. That was only the people who care and snoop will find it. That decreases the typical hoard of players that jump on anything new (changing names anyone?). That way the number of players who are aware of the feature slowly grows and gives Jagex time to work on any bugs that people find. That way when they announce it, the initial wave of players checking it out is lower then it would be and a large chunk of bugs are gone.
  7. Sure, the rule abiding citizens now know Jagex doesn't like it and will likely stop but what about the free publicity this gave 76k'ing to noobs who love nothing more then ill-gotten GP? I was thinking (and hoping) that Jagex might have slipped another nerf in with this one then passed the effects off as the new anti-76k system. As much as I love Jagex telling the players how drop systems etc work, there will always be players who chose to use that information to benefiet them *cough* manipulation clans *cough*. I think that Jagex should stop telling us about all of the ins and outs of systems like the GE and PKing and just say "Today we changed how PVP rewards are calculated. This will help real PKers and stop 76k'ing scum". Because, just by posting that you can't kill the same person over and over they gave the 76k'ers the answer to how to abuse the system. Ok, enough off topic. Can someone say what the current market prices are for rares?
  8. There are a few ways this could go 1) This could cause mass dumping and no buying thus driving the prices super low (relative to prices over the last few weeks, 'low' is more like 'normal' in the long run). The people who managed to sell off their items will hold their cash because of fear of losing it. 2) Panic sellers dump mass amounts of items right into the hands of hoarders who just stick the items into thier banks to rot and eventually pop back up. With these people buying, the initial drop will be sharp as all the items are likely being sold at min. But as soon as the panicing ceases players will see the graph leveling off and all rush to buy back their items. The hoarders then wait will the price is 10-15% over what they paid for them, dump and cause the 'main' crash. 3)It causes a 2-3 day crash then all the gp that is already in the game just keeps inflation going. Remember, this update does not stop mass amounts of GP entering the game, it just makes it minimaly harder for people to 76k, so at most it slows it down. Or, I could be way off and thus I will be hunted down by RSW44 and Bedman and made an example of. :ohnoes: PS -> I was mass flipping yews. Turns out they are being sold for minimum! YAY, so I can`t take advantage of the crash because my money is already tied up in falling logs!
  9. Annoying punk. There's something wrong with semi-retired people? *sniffs* I think it's more of a problem with semi-retired players that screw around with the economy even when they have no desire to spend the money they make off of the players who are actually playing the game and need the money to do things rather then just let it sit in their banks and rot. At least that's how I feel.
  10. I honestly think that Jagex should controll prices, but not through simply changing the price from 200 to 100 like they did with WF vials. Rather, they should add and remove items when necissary. So if a clan is trying to buy out an item Jagex just pumps items in to make it alot harder to buy out. Then when the clan inevitably fails Jagex takes the surplus items out of the GE. I don't know if that would work because I don't know economics at all, but hey its all I can think of that would stop manipulation. Clan manipulation is tied alot closer to inflation then many people think. Take iron ore for an example. It was stable at 100 gp each literally for years. Then the biggest f2p clan hit them and sent it to 200 gp each. Then the crash came but many players saw that a clan was willing to do iron ore so they bought up iron ore before the presumed bottom so the crash stopped at 115 gp each. And of cource, with the influx of GP into the game people people can chose to either let their GP sit there or buy a very stable item that they know will not fall and hope it rises. And of cource it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Even a couple people buying 1M iron ore each is more then enough to send an item skyrockeying right back up. Lemme see if I can find that picture that I made in another thread.
  11. I would love to see your evidence for these claims. The biggest part of making a good rant is having proof that supports your point of view. And if Mechscape does end up being like this there is no way that alot of RSers will convert.
  12. I had a long, insightful post writen up but hit the backspace button on the wrong tab and boom! gone. Here is a sum up of it. Good article, even better then usual and that's saying alot. As a F2P there are not many items to sink my money into long term, and even if there was I am not the type to hoard 1M pure ess just for the sake of it sitting there for months. I may add more to this again later but it is time for lunch and my stomach is begging for a nice roast beef sandwich. Oh, and fat_klutz, the current price of regular ess is at 75 gp each. F2P RCing is already toast. Makes me glad I got 75 before it jumped super high.
  13. I know this isn't Twitter but Mark Gerhards current facefook status is: I am pretty sure I have read somewhere that Jagex didn't want servers in China because of political reasons etc. I am probably thinking too much of this but could this little trip of the top 2 Jagex people mean they are looking into business in China? If this happened it would bring alot of new players in but it could also increase the RWT companies awareness of Runescape. Again, sorry this isn't Twitter, or an update hint, but it is a social networking site and I am really curious about it.
  14. *looks at stats in sig* yeah, you could say I have OCD lol. (the 2 99's make up for the 52 prayer) and the wc is what I am training now. and yes, I am stopping at 95) I am F2P so I don't have many items but they are more then neat. The runes are in decending order of value and my random event clothes are grouped in sets with similar colours together. (White from mime next to the skull scepter etc) I also threw out some random things I had collected because I had 2 rows of untradable items with 2 more items that would have started the third row. Unfull rows ftl. I also got rid of my mind runes because they threw off my 'row of runes'.
  15. First of all, this is in the wrong forum. Please use the Help And Advice forum for questions like this. Back on topic, 76k ing is a method where a person with high EP kills a willing person who has nothing but 76k on them. Then normally the killer banks the loot then becomes the killed. This is basicly a way to abuse Jagex's drop system. This has really just made PVP into people sitting around for EP then 76k ing. The rewards for this are pretty good drops in the form of ancient artifacts that you can trade in for pure GP. And that leads to another thing, the massive inflation. With people only losing 76k to gain up to like 5M or more there is a massive amount of GP coming into the game with nothing leaving. And with hundreds or thousands of people doing this all day, it really adds up.
  16. It appears that santas and H'weens have turned around. After lurking W1 for a while there were around 5-10 people buying for pure cash and a couple offering cash for Santa/Hween + up to 2M junk. No one was selling. I also put an offer in the GE for santa at 26.0M (50k above med) and did not get one. Oh, and to the last few posts. I think that the GE is fairly random for items that are traded in the thousands per day. So if you put an offer in you have a % chance of the next seller selling to you. The longer your offer is in the higher your % chance of getting that item is. Then because all your offers were in at the same time they all had the same % chance of getting the herb so you got a few herbs in each offer.
  17. I heard it is 10 hp every 5 seconds but I also heard it was 2 seconds. Either way, it is more or less instant.
  18. I got 75 RC in F2P :^_^: (yes I have been p2p but I rced at most 1k nats) Back on topic -> Cockraoches are a good choice if you want a little exp, cash, and a bit of fun. It doesn't have alot of one thing, but it's good overall. Killing lessers is alright but the exp isn't good and the drops are abysmal. Most skilling in F2P after level 70 is just grinding which is never fun but if you chose a semi afk skill ike wc you can cut and read TIF
  19. Elucin8er, the majority of rares are higher in street value then they are in the grand exchange. Clans have these items 'bought out" which means they control the majority of the item. Making their Price naturally go up. Since there are so few of these items left in the game they are rarely traded in the GE which means the GE price lags behind the perceived 'street price'.
  20. Took this image off runewiki and added some text to show my point.
  21. I just got up and have to rush to class so I don't know if this haas been posted but the "overload" potion seems pretty sweet for PVP. Boosted stats for a full 5 mins before they instantly go back down. But it heals 50! upon lowering. Drink pot in bank Eat a couple sharks Grab PKing gear Pwn some nubs Get PJed Heal 50 and laugh
  22. After seeing the first 2 parts of the 3 part preimere it doesn't look too bad. The characters don't seem as lovable as people like O'neil or Sheppard, but I don't know yet. Also, being on a ship traveling from planet to planet I don't think there will be much for a reoccuring enemy other then time. I think it is too early to pass judgement but I don't see it being as good as SG-1 or Atlantis. Keyno's are sweet.
  23. How I see it is that merch clans take a stable item and shoot it up super high. Then with the combination of summer inflation and the major inflation that has come from the PVP rewards they item never goes back down. This can really be seen with iron ore. Iron was stable at around 100 gp each since I started in 2005. Then at the begining of August the clan "be mercher" sent that price to 200 gp each. Since then it has never come close to that 100 gp mark. The closest it was, was 115 gp right after the crash when 'be mercher' dumped. Since then they have been creeping up and are near that 200 gp each mark. The so called "autumn crash" never really came because when items fell 5-10% they were instantly bought out by the imense amount of spare gp that is in everyones banks now. What we need is a major money sink to take that extra gp away from players so they can't just buy anything they want when they want it.
  24. RSW44 seems busy with homework and this topic is slipping into the abyss of page 2 so here is a quick look at the last few pages. (please still do yours RSW44, you are much smarter with rares) Santa Hats - According to RSW44 no major clans are merching them at the moment so they are "stable" compared to the past. There are still wild fluctuations in price that seem to either be lots of flippers or failed small clans trying to buy them out. They did drop 800k today but I see them poppining up and down around the 27-30M mark until a clan buys them out. H'weens - I am not sure, I'll look into it. Party hats - The lower 3 hats seem to have fallen slightly in street price because of some odd updates (under 1% rise even though they are bought out and purple even fell a bit) but they are still bought out. Half wine - Cracker - Still super high street, i have seen offers around 1.2 to about 2B. Eggs - Bought out, not sure how completely. Although I did see someone trading a disk for 2 eggs so it is pretty good. Punkins - Disks - Still doing quite well. RSW44 said these seem to be the `hot` item atm. Another major thing that was discussed was the odd increases in some items like partyhats. After a long time we pretty much concluded that Jagex changed the GE to a buyers market. This change combined with ancient partyhats coming back into the game (sell offers put in by players who quit when the ge came out) is what we think caused it. This was just my take on the current market and the last 7 pages of lost talking.
  25. This was the last post that survived the changeover. So anything after this post is new.
