Breathing

Featured Replies

For the longest time, I could only breathe through one nostril, apon looking this up, I learned that it might be a deviated septum .

I'm not surprised, I'm more curious. Does anyone here also experienc indifferent breathing patterns and might have a reasonble cause to it?

I can only breath through one nostril too tough when I get a stuffy nose I can breath through the nostril I usually cant. Must be semi blocked or something of the sorts.

Wow, this is the first time I've ever heard of someone only being able to breathe through 1 nostril when he's not sick. :-o

To answer your question, my breathing rate elevates only during exercise and other reasons that would cause my heart rate to increase. :-?

Wiki says that the Nasal septum deviation is caused by trauma or compression during child birth... While those may not be the cause for yours, does your nose look normal from the outside?

I think I seem to breathe more through one than I do the other.

Don't know if thats normal.

I can only half breath through both at the moment if that counts, it adds up to one

I don't like people making me think about my breathing, I fear that once I breath manually, I won't be able to turn automatic back on.

I can breathe just fine.

I was starting to worry that breathing through both nostrils was abnormal :-?

I can breath through both, but when I get sick, I can only breath through one at a time. Feeling the bridge of my nose though, it feels like I do have a deviated septum.

I have a deviated septum, mine isn't that bad though, it only blocks about half of my right nostril. It looks terrible though ;_; but it's not a serious health problem I guess. If you have one there is no if about it, it's a for sure thing, feel the tip of your nose and if it isn't straight then you have a deviated septum. Or another way is look straight up into your nose, that will tell you for sure.

I breathe through my mouth... Is that a problem =x?

I've always wondered what it'd be like to breathe through your ears...

You're now aware that you're breathing, and blinking, and you have an itch on your leg.

I breathe through my nose for the most part, cept for when it's bleeding. >.<

The title already made me think of the manually breathing thread. And my face itches, not my leg.

I use my left nostril slightly more then right. I think that`s it. Mabye we`re all weird breathers, and nobody realises it?

Oh. I would be breathing manually, but I'm coughing too much to breathe. Sort of a mixed blessing.

I'm pretty sure I breathe evenly through both nostrils. Maybe not, it's hard to tell when you're sick. Or at all.

Wow, when I saw title, I thought this was one of those threads that would say "you are now aware that you are manually breathing". Now I'm manually breathing. Thanks a lot, self.

Anyway, I never knew there was an actual name for your breathing condition. I mean, the only time I breathe through one nose is when I'm sick. But now since we're talking about nasal congestion, I've always been curious, why/how does the body always keep one nostril moderately clear during sickness, while the other is totally clogged up? I mean, why don't they both block up? Is the immune system really that strong that it will keep one nostril clean so that you can breathe safely without risking suffocation (even though you have a mouth)?
