Generally, Opera seems to score highly in page rendering, but Internet Explorer gets some loading help from Windows, as many of it's DLLs may already be loaded. On dialup, testing the MTU (same way as broadband) and tuning the RWIN to support the maximum BDP, can give a small assist. When I had 56k, I tuned the hell out of it, and even set modem options for speed range, force connection type (get a 42-49k or fail) - if you have pay monthly dialup, then forcing a good connection or fail is worth doing, if you are pay as go, then the connection charge for each failed connection means it is not a good idea. Also, make sure the modem/com port is set fot 230400 speed - it can get close to that, with full modem compression if the data is mostly plaintext. Another tip, maximize caching, in Internet Explorer, I would go with the "Automatic" option, which will check less often on content that appears to be persistent, more often on content that is dynamic, unless conditions force a check every time.

AMD A64 had Intel P4 well beat - P4 had a super-long pipeline that was supposed to scale to higher clockspeed - it didn't, they never solved to increasing power usage problem. AMD moved the A64 on from DDR400 to the AM2 socket and DDR2, but with no significant gains. Intel threw away the P4 development, and went the the elegantly designed and far more clock-efficient Core/Core 2 architecture, and stole the crown back. Though if you go Intel, you need a 1333 FSB capable motherboard, as anything good is going to end up at that speed. AMD are in an unfortunate state of flux, with Socket AM2 to be superseded by AM2+/AM3 and the degree of cross-compatibility is uncertain. Intel also have a wide, but confusing range... The "Pentium" E21x0 is actually a bottom end Core 2 Duo, with reduced cache compared to the Core 2 E4x00 range.

Might need some dragonhide - I assume range bonus applies to the cannon, so if you have to much negative, you could waste more shots.

Multiple runes do not help with levels, XP is only per ess used. Airs are in fairly constant demand, if you don't use them for mage, you can usually find someone to sell to (and the echange may make this even easier. Bodies are the highest F2P XP (other than tiaras, pick up every talisman you can), but are pretty much dead weight except for curse training - actually, the shop update made them dearer, so curse trainers may be buying. Minds: awful route, buy if you use strikes, you may have to make - best to get to triple before you do, as then one run, plus some airs, makes 84 strikes. I tended to follow the multiple rune levels, moving on to the next one to increase, as my objective was to build rune stock, minds & airs for strikes (fire staff), waters, earths & bodies to curse with, then I'd safespot, hit with a curse, then strikes. If you want minds, hammer to level 28 on bodies, then do the long walk! Minds can be a good trade, if you have k's of minds, there are not as many buyers as airs, but not as many sellers either.

It could be that they are an update befind - some AV's have an unstaller that is always kept updated, others just use a major version and require immediate updating before use.

I farmed the chaos dwarves for them, using trout/salmon (quick fished at Barb village) and wearing "full blue" armour, rune plate/legs and mithril for the rest, rune wep, so I didn't care too much if I got PKed. If you work out on them, then the keys are quite common, then you carrt on (with a bit of food left) to do the chest in the lava maze. The reward has something for crafters (a ruby), something for smithers (mithril bar), something for mages (chaos, death, law), something to heal with (Anchovy Pizza). 50gp and a Mithril dagger are a bit of a let down, but you can sell the dagger(s) at the bandit store on the way back, though watch out as it's multicombat and there is often an (un)welcoming party.
-
At 50 Smithing, you could superheat mithril bars, packing 5 ores to one bar. I used to like the wilderness mines, but haven't been there since TB@JT got rid of "monster protection". You can no longer keep a PKer at bay by engaging a monster in combat, as player attacks override monster attacks. The wilderness mines are a lot more dangerous than they used to be!

With your levels, a twist to the bows method is possible. Camp at a Yew spot, cut. While waiting for respawn, make & alch unstrung longs - they high alch for 384gp and you don't need any unstackable supplies to repeat until bored to death. Of course, it depends on doing reasonably well at yew cutting. Depending on the magic tree cutting, you could even do magic shortbows, but probably better to string those. Other possibilities: Mage at PC, putting points to mage (in 100's). Mage at CW for fun. MTA - can maybe recoup costs by dealing in Infinity robes / mage book.

If its 256MB RAM & onboard graphics, check how much RAM you have left. I've seen 256/onboard set to use 64MB RAM for graphics (BIOS setting) and it is a waste. If it's like that set the graphics RAM lower, maybe as low as 8MB. If there is another setting, AGP aperture, set that to 64MB, as it will be used only when needed - even 128 won't hurt.

I've B-axed, it's slow as hell, only a little faster than the R2H. PvM, it's not too bad against anything you can take down without eating, but the low speed makes time lost eating even more critical. The Scimmy, the most powerful fast weapon, excels in damage output on all but the toughest of opponents. If you can't be bothered with trade worlds, the rune long is the best weapon you can buy "off the shelf", with a speed disadvantage and power advantage over the Scimmy. If you train controlled, then do not use the Scimmy, as its controlled (stab) attack is rubbish, the long wins hands down in controlled.
-
Where you don't keep runes, would be "fast free laws", For each craft, you give away the runes and equivalent noted ess. In the "no ess back" world, you only provide free crafting, and spend nothing, though that world tends to be an overflow for runners if there are problems getting fast service at FFL.

33 def is ideal to be a "rune pure" on completion, but your attack/strength definitley need some attention. 40 attack and a rune weapon, and a bit more strength, I'd say that Elvarg is tougher than she used to be, and even Melzar's could be uncomfortable at current levels, as there is a fair bit to drain your food before reaching Melzar and the Lesser. All other quests done? I'd also suggest the mage level to tele out with a real teleport, not the home tele as it will be broken by an attack, or get yourself a Skull Sceptre, the only F2P tele item and quite a challenge itself. The other common extra for a "rune pure", would be 40 range and dragonhide vambraces, the best "gloves" in F2P.

Best one, autoers getting beaten up by the Drunken dwarf at Lumbridge, respawning, getting killed, repeat... One was running to the store for something and kept getting killed there.

Temporary f2p...What should I do till p2p again?
Doomster replied to Nopheo's topic in Help and Advice
If you have a space for normal ess, runecraft airs. Any kind of mage generally needs a ton of them, and you'll also be pushing towards 50 RC for the next pouch. At 5x airs, you may also be able to craft at not too great a loss using World 16. -
When it's good, it's good, a friend gets great speeds. When it's bad, it's bad, they changed something and it broke, and support was flaming useless. Some other possibilities, if they have O2 contract mobile, O2 broadband offers high performance at a special customer price. http://broadband.o2.co.uk/ If they have Sky, then Sky see, Talk & Surf is a great package. I'd consider both of those to be probaly more reliable than talktalk https://www.bethere.co.uk/ - another good one, an ISP that people actually like, and that's very rare - They are OWNED by O2

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/ - More info Particularly, check out the Game compatibility list http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/i ... 021400.htm The GMA900/950 are rather limited DirectX9 solutions, with Pixel shader 2.0 in hardware (because software emulation is too slow to be practical), but vertex shader and T&L in software - which many games will not accept.

The reward is always strength and defense. The reward is defence (levels all combat types) and strength (levels melee) - getting a good enough melee combat to do damage (other than by recoiling) adds more melee level, so going ranged may mean a lower overall level.

MechScape: The reason for the decline of RS?
Doomster replied to Dragonlordjl's topic in General Discussion
As for the "gold" site names, it may be a spoiler tactic against future abusers, or it may suggest that they could be planning to run the new game as a free game with item buy enhancements, a model common among many of the far east based MMOs. It remains to be seen if any new game leverages "runescript" or has a completely different base. https://jogl-demos.dev.java.net/ - Java CAN do graphics -
Will still get levels on completing, as it'll be a few defence levels, and a lot more strength levels. The other pure def choice (members) is to plough on until 60 for dragon. Maybe range, with poisoned bolts, as then the strength reward will be in a different combat type. If you use both an antifire potion and the shield, then you should be 100% immune to the fire attack. If trying to melee, then a poisoned dagger and recoils, plus friendly food droppers - with low attack you'd probably have to stay on the attack even after poison takes, as you won't be hitting very often.

I like related skill pairs: Mining/Smithing, Fishing/Cooking Sometimes concentrating on levels, sometimes on cash. An important thing, is the skill good at that time? If the mine is busy as hell, then go and smith the ores you have. If the Yews are clear thanks to a recent bot-purge, cut Yews. If it's a skill where resource competition matters, and it's particularly bad, then change worlds or change skill.

RuneScape on Miniclip, Jagex's worst decision ever?
Doomster replied to JJGM's topic in General Discussion
Miniclip product too... Joined two multplayer Games, Robot Rage & Runescape. Got quite deep into (non-premium) Robot Rage at one point, even using a gamepad with joystick to key software, but eventually got fed up getting trashed by premium pack weapons and suffering endless connect fails. Runescape, still plodding on, and finally thinking of going members for a serious dose of quest-bashing. -
+6 is the maximum for a 3-dose, so from -6 through 0 to +6, it's a 1 in 13 chance if they are evenly distributed. If the saw and a +3 tea (make sure it's the +3) does not do it, then it's either keep trying your luck with the stews, or get to 75 and use a +3 tea. Even one extra level would mean you would be able to get by with a +5 as well as a +6 from the stew, doubling the chances.

If you just want to level RC, then maybe try the ZMI altar, high XP per ess and the possibility to make some "over level" runes. Not good for profit especially if you are paying 20 runes to bank.

Tip.it Times Presents: I could do that job so much better!
Doomster replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
The key to defeating autos, is to give players the means to disrupt them, with some protection against victimizing the very few genuine skillers. Maybe if summoning ever arrives in some form (and this bit would need to be F2P), it could be used to summon agressive monsters to an area, a limited number of times per player per day. -
That's LOW? Good combat skills, maybe worth training fishing so you can get Lobsters at least (I like the self sufficiency path - make your own supplies and then the result is entirely profit). The standout support skill is fletching - 78 is enough for Yew longs, so training woodcautting to get Yews would be a boost. Runecrafting Nats, Alching Yew longs would be steady, though for completed longs, you'd still be on a fair profit if you bought in the nats and made everything else. Only other possibilities seem to be using combat to persue decent value drops, or building up a merchanting base. PS. Your smithing is awful, and at your combat level, Knight's sword would be a breeze, as the Ice warriors and giants would be training fodder!
