  1. If you like the music, then try THIS http://java.sun.com/products/java-media ... banks.html The standard Java soundbank is the SMALL one, - upgrading to the medium or large may improve the quality of the music sounds. If you have a really good hardware or semi-hardware midi, maybe allowing it to use that as a fallback would work, though that does not seem to be recommended.
  2. For "anti-auto", there is clearly a bias toward the more recent events - the Sandwich lady has got to be the most likely random of all at the moment. Had a spate of frogs not so long ago, I guess they are effective, as it's hard to spot the right one, with only a small difference in the headgear. Makes me wish I'd had room to keep the forester stuff - could have got a full set in the weeks after that one came out.
  3. Addy legs, 6.4k at Louie's Legs, but often out of stock - so 10k is a little on the high side - though I wouldn't sell my only one for any less, if I needed to replace. "Buy UR legs" seems to be one of the most common requests, particularly for addy or rune. Power amulet - usually nearer 10k
  4. Not the whole story though, as in a recent article - Rule 12 reminder, it appears that one-sided trades are suspicious. If you have two PCs behind the same router, you are also taking a grave risk that whatever monitoring they use will see it as multiple logon - jagex seem ban happy againsts things like that, while we all see hordes of default appearance autominers and a plethora of scammers ... anyone want some armour trimmed, or proof that you can't say your password  Take a look at Droolman's troubles in "general P2P".
  5. Against plate armour, the all-out crush attack of a warhammer may be useful- it's also slightly faster than the B-axe. Warhammer v B-axe Speed: a little faster Attack: Crush bonus quite a bit higher - even higher than 2H Strength: considerably lower So the high crush bonus, plus the lower defence of plate against crush, means this is most likely to hit, but with a strength similar to a Scimmy. The Scimmy is fast, the best weapon if slash attack works well on your target, since it has a minimal stab as an alternative.
  6. Bad move: For every 15 ores (3 mith, 12 coal) = 3 mith bars @ 80 each smelted & smithed = 240 xp total For every 15 ores (5 iron, 10 coal) = 5 steel bars @ 55 each = 275 xp total from easier ores. Members options would be rings of forging (Iron), Blast furnace, or Gold with goldsmithing gauntlets ("Family Crest" and "between a Rock") My highest (F2P main) is 72 mining, 61 smithing
  7. In F2P, I'd suggest mining a load of essence and then making use of the wall being taken away, to run body runes from edgeville bank - should be the fastest F2P runecraft XP. When back in members, maybe do "tears of Guthix" (weekly), as it will painlessly raise your farming (lowest skill), maybe to the point where you can grow something useful for herblore.
  8. The "random" events often seem to be clustered, or perhaps you only notice it when they are? Sandwich lady, I'm not surprised by - they ALWAYS seem to go heavy on the newer events, since they probably have more macro-harassing power. When the forrester was new, couldn't move for 'em, now I'm wondering if that's discontinued, like Dr. Ford ... makes me wish I'd had the space to hang on to it, as I'd have had full lederhosen.
  9. Used it many times, though there is an extra step as after using it once, the first chat will always be "you ought to be in jail". I also take the sandwich lady teleport, any time I no longer wish to be where I am, since the only reward is an unwanted eatable.
  10. Stew, a one bite, 11 HP that's a bargain at only level 25 cooking, especially on finding that you can make using chicken (level 1) instead of meat (nothing below level 2). You can also "sell" them for 20gp instead of the 8 at a general store, by talking to the tree by Draynor bank.
  11. Lunch (mmmm tasty home cooked hamburger with all the trimmings) interrupted me, 10 mins before! Otherwise I'd have been prowling for stuff and throwing a full load of mithril kites into the mix. Sounds like it was also (as usual) attracting a lot of randoms, is it just weight of numbers, or do gatherings get more than their share of randoms
  12. You can test them without eating, by which pile they stack in at a bank, but it seems from another thread that this IS an unintentional bug and will be fixed, though perhaps not until the next update is due.
  13. It seems there are two chairs that follow, not quite sure where they are actually based, as you can lead them to anywhere on the lower floor that does not have an auto-closing door (so no putting them in with the skeleton, and no taking them outside either!). I managed to take both of them to the entrance, the, run away and leave them there - funny to see the next noob that comes through the door get set upon by two chairs.
  14. The update seems to be discussed more in P2P, but there are a LOT of visual and other changes in the F2P zone, some good, some bad. You can't fail to notice the new wall texture, and the park fence, but: 1. The guards, now have varying levels and weapons, including one with a bow and one with a shield and crossbow - watch out if you try to mage or range them from "safe" spots. 2. The woman on the bridge by the pond (talk to) 3. Wyson, head gardener, talk to and dont ask for Woad leaves - has ANYONE seen a molehill, or is it just a bit of background. 4. Mining guild, the 3 door shortcut has gone. 5. Falador mine enrtrance, the door now faces south, instead of to the wall. 6. The guy on the steps, north of fally, has a name. 7. Dwarven mine, more detail at the entrance, and some new level 25 guards 8. Some walls removed, the one betwen draynor manor area and falador, and also between the barbarian village and the body altar (should make running body runes from edgeville bank a bit quicker). 9. Pet chairs in Draynor manor 10. Looks like a bug, the Draynor defence cabbages (Draynor manor) - the pick action is still available, but "nothing interesting happens" when you try. One of my characters still has a dozen of them.
  15. Good luck when silver mining in the craft guild the other day. 1. Sandwich lady teled me to just outside Falador (with a full load of ore), banked it and went back. (I tend to take the tele, in the hope of getting somewhere I want to be). 2. Got a Certer random, dropped my pick and got another almost full load noted. What I thought was going to be a slow slog to the next level, was both livened up and made considerably faster.
  16. Can they only use one building texture in a location? Whitewashing the entire town seems to be less appealing than maybe just giving the castle a gleam - at least the forge should be a bit grimy.
  17. The choice of compresser is quite critical, as is not demanding a frame rate higher than can reliably be achieved - trying to get more make it even jerkier. On a P4 3.2GHz - the most I can get away with (using Camstudio and the Alparysoft lossless codec) is 15 FPS video window only, 12 FPS for the entire view including minimap, inventory & chat.
  18. Some other things. 1. Falador ... went a bit overboard with the whitewash there! - The park fence looks nice and fancy though. The furnace has also had a facelift. An unwanted tweak - the Mining Guild - the 3 door route from the path south of the bank is no more - shame, as this was faster for non-autoers, and a good place to trap suspected autoers that tried to go though on "all doors open". 2. Dwarven mine (main entrance) More detal and equipment, non-attackable engineers wandering around NEW- Level 25 Black Guards - not got the full stats, but my level 65 could drop them very quickly for no damage.
  19. You need to do the Dragon Slayer quest to reach Crandor. Push the wall (I believe you can do it before going to face the dragon, otherwise after) so that you "remember" it and can then go through tha passage from the Karamja volcano. If you are defeated by Elvarg and have not pushed the wall, you have to repair the boat again, and if you teleport out after killing Elvarg, you may have difficulty getting back to Crandor - use the passage and wall.
  20. Unless you really know what you are doing, DON'T - Linux is another operating system entirely, and setting it up to run alongside windows is not a trivial task. If you want a safe taste of linux, then try Knoppix. This is a live CD (or DVD) version with much pre-installed, including the premier graphics application for Linux - "The Gimp". It boots and runs direct from the CD - and while some have hacked it to a hard disk install, other distributions are better for that.
  21. Maybe the evolution of the current MMORPG can be traced back to bulletin board games such as "Legend of the Red Dragon" (current remake - Legend of the Green Dragon). What came before the current graphical ones, mat be a point worth persuing for a presentation. I played LotGD for a while: so: http://lotgd.net/home.php? (not the server I played on) 1. Played on a free server - LotGD is "open", so you will find free servers, pay servers and modified servers. 2. Price depends on the server. 3. Time established, uncertain, Game time normally proceeds at 2 game days per actual day. 4. Menu and text 5. Cheap but rather basic, rather dependent on nostalgia for those old BBS "door games". The PvP element is limited to attacking sleeping (offline) players. 6. Modifications include servers with unlimited turms, extra NPCs and assistants (if you own a wolf pack, you are almost invincible, though that may ba a custom addition, and was unavailable to higher levels. There are many "buffs" which can be obtained, though your assisting animal is the longest lasting of them. Buffs cannot be used when advancing level in combat with your trainer, nor by or against sleeping players. If you die, you spend some time in another place, where you can combat for points to make a quicker return, or for other abilities, such as haunting.
  22. Now you mention it, I've never had or seen anyone else get a random while smelting. Smithing, I got a frog at Doric's. Fishing, Karamja is a real random hotspot, while Lumbridge fly fishing is not. Also. I know you will see more randoms where there are more players (most drop parties seem to attract randoms), but it does seem that the chance of a random is higher at busy locations, maybe it's interpreted as a possible autoing hotspot.
  23. Not so much out of place, but the Draynor jail guards seem to be further away from their compound, and more often
  24. So far: 1. Ice Mountain 2. Falador (south entrance) - blows away my "teleport destination" theory, since I can't find any existing tele to there. I wonder if we can catalog all the possible destinations?
  25. You don't die to a Sandwich lady! You get a (harmless?) whack with a baguette, and a free teleport, though often to somewhere you wouldn't want to be. I got sent to the Ice Mountain (I'm F2P) Looking at the available teleports, that is the destination of "Lassar Teleport" in Ancient Magiks. Now if I guess right, and the destination could be ANY available within your world, even if the spell would not be available, then I hope they don't include the 4 wilderness destinations! Other people seem to have had F2P city teleports (Lumby, Flador or Varrock), and Ardoygne is a P2P teleport destination. Pretty sure she can only teleport you to somewhere that is already a teleport destination - probably uses the existing teleport code.
