  1. 1st deaths? Main: Probably the Varrock wizards circle, sneaking in to collect drops. I had Sedridor's box with me, and lost it, had to go back for it. In the same run (maybe this one was first) also died with the same box, to a Draynor jail guard. Steel test guy: Needed an extra few bones for the silverlight key, and thought I could get away with an unarmoured attack on a blue wizard - caught when it lagged as I ran. Furious at losing my Accuracy ammy. Pure mage: Not died yet Pure hybrid (with all the tut. island and other training ticks, my attempt at a "perfect" pure): Died to an Evil chicken, training range at barb village. Due to player stacking, didn't notice it was on me, had some food, but not enough, down to both redbarred and the door was shut.
  2. Unless you pray on a mage, I'd go for leather chaps (small physical defence, no penalty) instead of prayer bottoms. Actually, studded chaps are a possibility, compromising mage attack by 5 in return for greater defence increases.

  4. I've seen two Count Draynors there, if someone else is there ... maybe you killed the wrong one. I've also found that the combat can end without doing the stake. Success: The fight ends, and when you finish him off, you automatically use the stake and hammer, no need to switch equipment. Take care not to touch the coffin again during the fight, that might raise a second Count, and you'd probably have to kill both of them.
  5. With the majority of local country/state servers, Runscape ought to be relatively unaffected by international link problems, though perhaps the login server is central. As the internet was initially "designed", it was supposed to be resistant to connection failures, by having multiple links and the freedom to route around damaged ones. As it is NOW, it is mostly based on commercial "peering" arrangements, or link traffic purchased from the cheapest provider... the internet isn't broken, but the bit your ISP or the host at the other end pays to use is down. Where backup links are provided, they are usually of inferior capacity - or if an equal split is made, then losing one link means losing 50% capacity. The thing which really hits hard, is a USA centre or link problem, as it is generally the hub which connects geographically seperate areas. The internet SHOULD be a mesh, but it is organized commercially more like a hub or point to point system.

  7. Across 4 accounts (main, steel tester, pure mage, pure melee/hybrid). It's the melee/hybrid that's getting the TLC at the moment. Forester: Lots on main when the event was new, If I'd kept them I'd have a full set. None since. Frogs: several on main and steel, mostly when training fishing.   8. The items are in strict order, so if you routinely discard previous ones, you will NEVER get later items or the emotes. Yes, it's a whole statless, untradable set, totalling 5 pieces (2 pairs and a single). I'd rate the mask as the best piece, since you can't really tell the other pieces apart from variatons in the clothing of an unarmoured character.

If you can handle the tedium of curse casting (1 by 1), then it's a cheap, 0 HP way to raise mage, especially if you make all the runes, or buy the bodies (usually cheap) and make either earth or water and wield the opposite staff. Witch's Potion and Imp catcher will also give a magic boost. Reasons for raising mage: 1. Mage level helps defence against magic 2. Teleport, if you choose to 3. Alching drops 4. Can be done without raising HP (curses, weakens, tele, alch, enchant) Ranged level is useful for: (level 20) - change your iron legs for studded chaps, stronger all round defence and + rather than - in magic defence. (level 40) - Dragonhide (green) chaps and vambraces Members can use higher dragonhide pieces at levels 50, 60, 70 There is no direct benefit from ranged level itself, unless you are actually operating as a melee/range hybrid, unlike the magic defence effect of mage level.
  10. Can't be 1 gp per XP, as you only gain XP per essence, not per rune - crafting multiple runes doesn't help the XP.
  11. A true def pure (a "decorative" only character wearing rune or better) really needs to keep the other levels low. With 1 attack, the best weapon (non member) is the silverlight, obtained by starting the demon slayer quest - NOT completeing it is an advantage, as a free replacement can be obtained by repeating the initial stages.
  12. Once, Aubury's essence teleport (recently, seems to be a random hotspot now). Took the box, got 500 gp (should have taken the 1k).
  13. For me, it's random door closing sounds, even in places where there is no door nearby.
  14. As I understand it: Accurate / aggressive / defensive gices a small bonus to either accuracy (hit less 0's), strength (hit higher), defence (be hit less often). The types of attack: Stab: hit more often against chain Crush: hit more often against plate
  15. You either see chasing levels as a challenge, as boring, or as almost impossible when you realize that the next few levels need as much tedium as your entire progress so far. Or you auto, and pray you don't get caught.
  16. The compensation is noted ess, so far, amounts of 9, 10 and 11 to various players - could be chance or level based as to how much you get.
  17. Don't like the layout of PHPBBLite, but a "zero graphics" layout could have a speed advantage. A lot can be done with CSS styles. To make sense, a lean and fast layout would also need the ability to turn off avatar / sig / image display - a feature found on most VBB-based forums, not sure if its absence here is a limitation of PHPBB itself, or the skins and hacks used or not used.
  18. If you are a 1 defence pure, then you must avoid using the alternative attack style if it is "controlled", since it also gives defence XP. While the melee weapons have stats for all 3 attack types, they are normally capable of only two styles, maybe one. Against anything not particularly resistant to slash attacks, the Scimmy is the strongest of the fast weapons. The Long sword is slower, but higher in stats, with a much better alternative stab, though this is "controlled". You cannot crush at all with either of them. The Battle axe can slash and crush with the alternataive attack being an aggressive crush - a good all rounder that's only let down by the slow speed. The two hander has the same attack combinations as the battle axe, and the highest power but the lowest speed (of any F2P weapon). Don't forget the warhammer, a pure crushing weapon, the style of attack that's most effective against plate, though if you have the choice, magic is a far better weapon against plate armour.
  19. Increased chance to hit, same as adding bonuses using the mage kit and amulet.
  20. If you don't care about cash, the the shortening of the Body altar route from Edgeville means you can get 50% more XP for about the same length of run. (run it in lightweight/no equipment, if you have a combat level high enough to avoid the ranged barbarian that lurks nearby). Of course, Body runes are practically impossible to sell, as only curse trainers use any bulk of them, though they do give the highest XP possible for standard essence.
  21. Some things that need more attention and less repetition would be better, something that would be difficult/impossible to auto (though they'd probably build a better autoer). Have they not heard of RSI?

  23. According to the knowledge base http://kbase.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/ ... le_id=2161 Magic level does aid defence. If you are an iron pure (1 defence) then studded legs are better all round than iron, so training range to 20 or 40 (studded leges / dragonhide legs and vambs), AND triaing magic by quests (Witchs potion & imp catcher), then confuse .. weaken .. curse is probably the strongest combination. If you don't want to use full ranger kit, them a compromise would be medium helm and chain, anti-dragonfire shield, with the other kit as above.

The only way a skills reset would be acceptable, is if they ran a new version in parallel, with NO migration, or perhaps two server groups (or some form of split mode on the servers) with high score tables for migrated and non-migrated characters. Maybe a similar game to runescape, but set in a more recent or perhaps a future setting, where energy weapons and transporters would replace spells, powerpacks would replace runes, and of course, thrown and wielded weapons would still be possible - after all, if Star Wars could combine blasters and fencing with lightsabres....
