  1. Chef's hat is required for the Chef's guild (level 32 cooking) - though if you only ever cook fish, the guild has nothing to offer.
  2. Egg to rune helm in 6 trades... unbelievable (do we say "no pic no proof"?). 1. Seems pretty neutral 2. Massive bundle for 2 feathers 3. I'd have hoped to do better for the cowhides - often sell well at Al-K 4. 60 Chaos for 44 nooby runes, unbelievable 5. Not bad 6. I'd call that about level, on the lowest W1 prices found for Addy scims
  3. Unless you want extra hitpoints (some do, some don't, at 4 more "life" per extra combat level) train magic using confuse / weaken / curse. Even if you don't actually use magic in attack, the level contributes some resistance to magic. The stock melee + range pure would have: 40 attack / Rune wep max strength - use strength potions for temporary boost. Range (not exceeding 2/3 of A+S total): 20 and use studded legs, 40 and use green dragonhide chaps & vambs. The rest would be full Iron (melee), or leather (ranged practice or meleeing against mage). Prayer: It depends - protect item can save you the price of a rune weapon replacement, but means carrying an extra 3 combat levels.
  4. Last 3 times, the sandwich lady sent me to the Falador south gate, though I did get one to the ice mountain a long time ago.
  5. Whoa! Anchovies are NOT for eating on their own - they heal ONE only - good thing you didn't need food, or you would have died pronto! Anchovies are a good Pizza topping (level 55 cooking), bur if you are catching them (level 15 fishing), better to switch to a rod and bait at the same spots (sardine/herring), or go fly fishing on the river if you have level 20 fishing or better. Just don't consider Anchovies as a usable food, even cooked meat is better.
  6. Airs - Level 1: You have to start with them, lowest XP, but one of the more desirable runes to use or trade. Miners can walk on to Rimmington mine. Minds - Level 2: Can be in great demand, and great for arming your mage with strike spells. Altar location is pretty horrible though, a long walk from Falador (north gate) and a bit shorter (but low level wilderness) from Edgeville. Foor this reason , better to hold off until you get double (Level 14) or treble (Level 28). Waters - Level 5: Altar is not too bad, from Draynor Bank or direct from Sedridor's teleport. Level 40 or higher miners can walk on to the Lumbridge mine - there is nothing for any lower level miners there. Earths - Level 9: Not too bad from Varrock east and the run is rumoured to be a hotspot for Mimes/mazes, though Curse uses 3 earths and 2 waters, topping up with earth runes here and using a water staff works quite well, as this run is quicker than the waters. Fires - Level 14: Never done them myself, as I go for the fire staff as soon as I can fire strike. Body - Level 20: The higest F2p XP per ess and with the fence alteration, a lot faster than they used to be. Curse trainers (water staff) would do well to power-level on bodies, from level 20 up to 26 for double earths. If you do not have exceptional patience, mining ESS in packs of 500, rather than 1000, may be preferable, though if you are watching for level ups and double or treble ups, then do make certain that you have enough ESS to do it. If you do bulk airs and minds (to trade or strike with), then watch the multiple rune points. I did airs and other stuff to 28, minds all the way from 28 to 33 (tough, but worth it), then airs at 4x, arming my mage with strikes by the thousand. There are times when you have to make that "bite the bullet" push, especially if you knoe that you do need the runes, and doing them piecemeal would actually cost you more time and essence.
  7. That's it... you don't get any beer, but all the Barabarians in the hall say "Oi, that's ours", and become aggressive. Better for melee combat than ranged, as you may need to run for cover.
  8. Anyone thinking of running MapleStory (another MMORPG)... read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameGuard Previos versions of the article actually have more detail, but GameGuard is a badly written system level tool with serious vulnerabilities and no proper uninstall.
  9. Now you mention it, had a really hellish burst of lag, the sort where you give up on the action, click again, then run around crazily - seems to be worse in busy areas, not so dependent on how busy the server is as a whole.
  10. Just try it in the Barbarian hall, you'll be amazed.
  11. The golden rules for ranged training: 1. Always upgrade bow and armour: Oak bow at 5, Willow bow, studded legs & coif at 20, Maple bow at 30, dragonhide pieces at 40. 2. Buy cheap arrows whenever you can 3. Train on something that can't hit you - If you use the Barbarian hall, take care NOT to hit the level 15 ranger!
  12. World 16 air running (for cash) - even at the 2k rate, that's 2k just for bringing 25 un-noted ESS and taking away 25 noted - yes, you use NO materials other than a float of 25 ess, but gain no XP at all. Lobster fishing looks like another option.
  13. If you run out of feathers at the Barbarian village, closest resupply is the champions guild (if you can get in), while Lumbridge has a chicken farm a lot closer. Cooking both and dropping the trout is a useful tactic, since Salmon heal 2 more than trout and are good enough for training, even on moderately tough monsters. If you want cash or combat food though, better to do Lobsters or Swordies (cook both, drop Tuna & refish). Longer and slower run, but useful result apart from just levelling.
  14. Black hatchet should be a 1*, as you have to be a member to meet Black Demons - though it appears it CAN be a Tree spirit random drop.
  15. From 5-10k in World 1 Varrock - 5k is about the best I've seen, and 10k the worst. The only Addy weapons with F2P stores are: Dagger, Short, Long sword (Varrock sword shop - stock can be a problem, especially the long) Mace (Falador) B-Axe (Port Sarim - often out of stock) The only Rune weapons with stores: Mace, Short & Long sword (Champions Guild)
  16. If you have a small and medium pouch, then you use both. Watch out, as they still degrade even when used outside the abyss. PS. Normal or Pure ESS? - Don't waste pure ess on lower runes.
  17. If you can resist them, you can also save the cakes to top with chocolate and the Pizza with meat or anchovies (F2P) or Pineapple (P2P). It appears that topping has 100% success, though the cooking XP in the tables is for the entire making, so subtract the original to find the XP just for topping.
  18. Not a lot in it, though if the doors are open, one click can "autopilot" up the right side - that's the way I've been taking lately. At level 64 though, I'd be more inclined to stock up on lobsters or swordies at Karamja - levels might not come so fast, but the value is a lot higher (unless you are collecting "noob food" to distribute). Though that brings the next question - Draynor or Falador - which is quicker from Port Sarim ?
  19. In F2P, prayer is a temporary boost while in members, it can be extended by potions. The counter to that, is that members can also use an anti-prayer "Smite" to deplete prayer, while nothing in F2P can interfere. In F2P, you have to work close to an altar, such as the one in the west wilderness, for prayer to be worthwhile (other than the "protect item" bailout), as it will normally only last one combat. The other thing, don't expect to use combat prayers AND protect item, unless you are good at judging when to switch.
  20. Doomster

    Which Pure

Only the body is restricted - you can use full soft leather to start. Add Coif and studded legs at 20. Green dragonhide chaps and vambraces at 40.
  21. Raising the levels has a small effect, but the bonuses for the weapon and armour are typically larger than the level required to use them. eg. A defence level 20 in full Mithril has a higher melee defence than a level 40 in character clothing only, though the the defen level 40 unassisted is better against mage. All levels count, yours and the bonus/penalty for any equipment you wear/wield.
  22. With 1 defence, full iron is the most you can wear (plus boot/glove/cape set ... never leave without them). If worried about mages, full leather (soft) is better. Getting 20 ranged (use Studded chaps) or 40 (use green drag chaps and vambraces) may be worthwhile as even the studded chaps are better than iron legs. Ah! You're going to pray... that makes monk robes almost essential, especially if you intend to pray and mage, as you'd be lucky to land a bind spell with any metal equipped. Green dragonhide stuff also does no good at all to your mage hit.
  23. On a F2P mage, probably not.... Protect item (skulled) will probably save your staff - 1500 to replace - big deal, you can make that back in 1 world 16 air run. There are no usable attacking prayers for a mage, so the only real power comes from protects, though they are only 50% against players. The other drawback is that it runs down. To be underestimated, remember that while the blue Wiz hat is better than the black, the tops are equal, so while the the full blue mage (hat/top) with useless blue skirt looks the part, the ragtag appearance of blue hat, black top, chaps nakes you look less like a true blue mage. Another thing I'm trying, is 20 ranged and the studded chaps... While they have a -5 attack penalty, the defence stats are good - possibly equal or better than using plain chaps or nothing and a power ammy (the latter being a total of +21 attack instead of 20, weaker defence and a lot more expensive). Of course, if you have perfect cover, then remove the studded chaps for maximum attack.
  24. Don't forget the rune full crash helm - there's no Lumbridge respawn!
  25. Def pures are decorative only, or perhaps damage absorbers if scavenging or skilling. The well tried melee pure (F2P) would have: 40 attack - wield Rune weapon (Members - 60/dragon, or whatever a whip needs) Major strength, aided by STR pot 40 Ranged, for Dragonhide chaps and vambs, rest of armour = Iron As much curse trained magic as possible (assists magic resistance, and at 25, allows the first tele). Prayer: do without, ot take the combat level penalty to get "protect item" - the lack of prayer pots in F2P makes prayer a weak skill in combat, as one recharge barely lasts a combat. If you choose your battles, prayer can be a strong skill, and much stronger in members.
