  1. Wrong. VERY wrong. I've done the calculations myself, using my own, accurate, info. I've also seen countless others do the same thing. The extra accuracy doesn't make up for squat. At something like black dragons, perhaps it might, but range is already excessively accurate with d hides and black dragons are something you should NEVER hunt for xp, not any over monster with high def. Count your xp per/hr with a darkbow at something like caged greaters and you will realise it gives significantly less xp/hr then a oak shortbow. Litterly. Never train for xp with darkbow, ever.
  2. I'm in a similar situation as you  I use BGS for strength training ATM, I dont care if it's a hundred times slower, it's just too fun : I wouldn't recommend it though because it seems your after exp. How much do you exactly GW/PVP apposed to training? You could always sell the BGS when you go to train and buy it back, but that can cost you and isn't really that enjoyable to do over and over again. Personally, in your situation, I'd recommend you GW with the BGS until you can afford both the BGS and SS. If you're not up for that, and you're slaying/training more then anything, get an ss and maybe some fancy equipment to go along with it like Bandos from the left over cash.
  3. ... And does so at a much slower arrows fire per hour rate, even counting that it fires twice at once. The only thing a dark bow is half good for outside PVP is it's special. If you're ranging black dragons, it's nice to keep a dark bow in your invent just for the special - but it takes away valuable inventory space (if you bring a DB as a special weapon, it's only good against high defence monsters really). That and the coolness factor is all the darkbow has going for it.
  4. It spawned on an random island, where it's unable to reach it w/o range and impossible to get it's loot (who uses telegrab? )
  5. I went to CW first thing aswell, it's priceless using GS the first time there Anyway, I tried soloing so I'll let anyone else wondering what it's like know (<-- Failed grammar  ). I went there the first time, and although I'd use a certain... less invitive.... word to describe what happened to me, I got "attacked" by a group of 4-5 revevants. I could swear they were making a DD, but don't quote me on it. Luckily I mage prayed and super defence potted right before, so I escaped and logged at 5hp, with poison that inflicts 7 damage. Luckily I survived to bank. I later went in range gear, because it became apparant that melee range wasn't going to be very realistic there. First trip, I had to bank when CE was at 1/3 hp. The next, I killed it. This was all with BROAD bolts and 90 range. because I'm lazy to buy better. Second trip, I killed it and got 1k cash + Tuna's. Some tips to people who have the same idea as me: 1. Don't 2. Don't 3. Don't 4. it's pretty much not possible w/o a BoB. If your inventory has more then 4 spaces open, you may as well bank - it unequips you faster then you equip yourself 5. Don't? Edit: To above post, curry.. That's the best idea I've heard in quite awhile : Perhaps it wouldn't be half bad if you could buy curry in decent number.
  6. Well I just got my brand new, first, GS and I love it \ I went to hunt revs, but every rev except the dragon isn't really a challenge anymore, even in dhides/smite. So guess who I saw while I was walking around? I was wondering if it's possible to solo it without a cannon? I don't care for efficiency I just want to have some fun. I have: 99 atk 95 str 90 def 85 mage 73 prayer 79 Summon This guy seems so forgotten that it's like there isn't a single modern guide out there - So can anyone advise me on this as well - dhides/range pray or melee armour/mage pray? Lastly, my GS is a BGS and I dont have the budget to get a different one, nor am I selling it. Ever
  7. Regardless - Many people have got a visage without talking to him.
  8. As said, it's ALOT more annoying to read. That's been proved a myth, you don't need to talk to him at all. The guide is defintly coming along, though you dont really need all that food unless you're camping with a yak :-#
  9. Yep, added greens. I'll probably add wilderness green dragon spots next - but these are for pures and accounts with low defence really, because of the single combat - the crowding reflects that. I'll work on updating old gp/hr's from pre-summoning as well. Edit: Brutal greens updated with summoning - they are +70k gp/hr from before. As always, I'd appreciate it if you could point out any errors I missed. :) Edit: Method to verac brutal green dragons out. Surprisingly enough red dragons and brutals (both methods) seem to come onto par with each other when summons are used.
  10. Thank you very much for the AoW :D I've started at green dragons now, I just have to time it and try alternative spots :) Thanks for the feedback, I didn't enjoy meleeing them so I suppose I overlooked some alternatives. :
  11. Sigh... wat? Best of bank? i dunno what BoB is... :P Beast of burden, a catagory of summons that hold items (in this case best used for food) for you.[/hide] While the second part is true, I'm 99% sure it does use prayer - but because it is versing players, the 50% protection rule (from PVP) applies instead of damage immunity. Also, you don't need a slayer helm/black mask to hit through the prayer (though it helps... Alot). Really, is it so hard to read 1 page of posts? Is it so hard to refrain from spamming? Not only does your post not help but I did read through everything and I see no reason why you would think elsewise. As said above, the PVP prayer rule is 50% less acuracy, not max hit. Regardless what anyone believes or what it actually is - The KQ has higher melee defence on 2nd form but you can hit through it, which is all the thread asked.
  12. These weapons degrade, so they're PVP/boss hunting only really. I suppose thats where godsword works best, I think I'll wait a few weeks before I buy my GS \
  13. I think he was telling you to bring a beast of burden with you because there's no sight of one in your screenies ;) And yea, I was a TIF mod a good while ago :P Edit: To question below, I quit because of school. I'm starting senior school next year and the homework load + the moderating would be a bit much for me. It is good fun modding though, lots of nice people to work with

  15. I can't tell if you're being serious, but that's the biggest failure of a blacklist I've ever seen (can't talk for dark beasts though). You generally want to prioritize iron/steel dragons to be blocked, they're frequent tasks and they're hell to do. If you don't want any summoning exp at all you can think of scabarites and waterfiends. A blacklist dedicated to give you solely to best slayer exp would be something along the lines of: Steel drag, iron drag, wyverns, (any monster you dislike). If there's a bad task but it's rare to be assigned it, make sure to NOT blacklist it, the bad and rare tasks are a perfect one to use the 30 point cancel option on.
  16. Pretty much every monster drops all, he probably meant that they drop a high % of golds, which is very true. As a monster to train on, the money is good. Something to hunt for money? Hell no :-# They drop a good ammount of rune scimmys & rune arrows which can give some decent cash. If you're going to kill them in the waterfall area (the crowding may have changed) say goodbye to your sanity because it's packed full of low levels and pures. The money & exp obviously makes them a slayer task worth doing, but the money isn't extrodinary for higher levels - perhaps it might be decent for pures that are starting off, which is where you would be hearing such claims from.
  17. In the "Familiars" section in the summoning guide, some info is wrong. It says "Forages 10 oak logs". It merely forages one at a time, normally not even giving you 10 oak logs in it's entire life span. Additionally, it says: I've used ~100 ent scrolls and not once seen an acorn drop, I'd say that's enough to say Jagex must have forget to add this feature.
  18. Very impressive calculator, I'll make good use of it for the last summon level that I'm going for :) The only downfall is that the GE prices can't update automaticly, however it gives a very good idea at what the cost will be never the less. 9/10 :P Edit: You also seem to have misspelt blue as "bleu" every time. Lol.
  19. This is a pretty good spot, I tried it like 3 days after the quest release but I didn't like it because it was single combat, if it was multi-combat there would be almost no delay between kills. A good spot, like a welfare version of zombie monkies. Also, there's no need for prayer there, just use barrows legs and tank it with a super defence, there's especially no point in praying if you have a bunyip. It will just irratate you when you have to switch prayers from melee to range.
  20. I can make money so much faster then I do fishing and woodcutting, does that mean every single runescaper should utterly abandon these skills and just have half the rs population go GW boss hunting? Nu uh. As mentioned, slayer is a skill and if you want a good all-around account then you will sooner or later have to train it. Since when was slayer all about money anyway? If your only motive in slayer is to get 85 slayer and camp at abby demons you have some serious re-considering to do, the perks of slayer are variety, yes. To me, the slower exp/hr is worth it even from the experience perspective. How? Because if I bore and I see I have 100 monsters left, I will happily kill those last 100 monsters. If I bore in standard training, I will go on to something else instantly - I don't play this game for stats but for fun. Having said it - many people find slayer FUN. Who is anyone to argue that people shouldn't do what they find enjoyable? While your objective in slayer has been nerfed, that does not mean everyone elses is.
  21. This guide is very much so incomplete and I'm finding it increasingly hard to put aside time to finish it :? When I get around to it I'll keep the leaf sword in mind though I tried whip on a black dragon task and the combination of dragon slayer gloves and slayer helm wooped d long so much so that I don't see a need to use stab weapons. Also, not everyone has a trimmed skillcape  But if I forgot to put that in the recommend equipment I'll go fix it. Thanks for the comments :
  22. two, eight, and seven. Interesting post, reminds me of why I used to post in rants so much more ;) It's hard to pick where to start with this TBH, but I'll say first off that I'm a huge slayer fan and will remain so probably until I max melee. I HAVE tried zombie monkies with prayer pots, the exp is incredible, yes, I got 96-99 attack in ~5 days there. But I don't play this game to see my stats increase, I play for fun and slayer provides that for me. You addressed that, so I won't continue on it. I've had a similar thing happen to me before, it's irratating but avoidable. Firstly, the obvious blacklist is there and helps plenty if you use it well. Many people blacklist tasks they hate the most, such as wyverns. This is actually quite stupid - lets say you have 5 certain tasks that you hate and will not do under any circumstance, for the ease of reference lets say they're gargoyles, wyverns, steel drags, iron drags and bronze dragons. Which do you blacklist? The immediate reaction would be to black list the ones you hate the most (lets say you hate gargoyles the MOST), leaving the one you hate the least, lets say iron drags, to be skipped with points. The most effective thing to blacklist are GARGOYLES because they are MUCH more frequent tasks then iron dragons (even if it's not true in your experience, it's just an example). This will save you many many slayer points and in turn much money. You were in the mistake of not keeping a safe cushion of points to skip tasks, thus you had to pay the price of completing some unwanted tasks. I'd argue that slayer is much much safer. I haven't died to a monster for over 2 years (estimate) but just a few weeks ago I dc'ed at monkies and died. DC's at monkies are a big threat because they will eat you alive if your prayer doesn't last. I lost 500k-ish worth of pots and nearly lost my berserker ring and god cloak (my pile disappeared just as I got to it - no gravestone when you DC). I'll agree with this on the terms of hoping for new monsters. While I'd really like a new slayer monster I know getting my hopes up is just asking for a disappointment. However many people fail to see that the real profit from slayer comes not from the fancy whip & dragon boot drops but from the monsters that you kill in training slayer. The slayer mask makes certain profitable monster viable to train on. For example (a pretty bad one, but I can't be bothered thinking of a good one), abby demons are usually horrid xp but a slayer makes them decent exp while also good money (people seem to act like the only way to profit from abby demons is getting a whip drop, which is very much so wrong). I like to keep loot from 10-20 tasks in my bank and then sell it to see how much money I gain each time - I normally make nearly 1m from those 10-20 tasks and if I get lucky (a whip drop or multiple spirit mage tasks) I can make upwards of 2m. For casual training, that's quite a nice reward. No argument here, slayer highly favours melee, which can be a big downside to any rangers out there. Lastly there's the arguement that levels are levels and if you're a maxed player who has lvl ~50 slayer, it's really going to hurt you badly if your going to try to get the highest total level you can. When people compare exp at a spot such as zombie monkies vs. slayer, they almost ALWAYS forget to add in the slayer exp which is worth it's weight in gold.
  23. Mino's are large (meaning more dancing) and don't really hit that well, I'd definitely go with the lobster.
  24. Love the spot, thanks for sharing Got 96-99 attack in about 4 days here (With mantis, works great there). Though I think I'll switch back to slayer now, I need to make back all the money lost on those prayer pots. I may have missed it being said, but there's a second spot for them almost completely identical just on the other side of the high ground there (I can't remember the direction, they're next to the other large fire you find there), which I found pretty usefull when it was busy, it's only worse in the fact that you have to run about 3 seconds longer to get to the spot the re-activates aggressiveness, assuming you use p-pots. Hawt guide
