  1. RCing without 91 RC sucks these days tbh. Pure essence has inflated essence prices many times (mining it is tedious, and using your best money maker and buying essence is more efficient anyway) and nature prices have fallen, for whatever reason. Maybe a good way to make a quick buck if you've just came back and need something to start off with, but for 50m, that would be painfull indeed. 50m is a pretty large goal for your stats, I'd personally go for dragon hunting (not metal, their far too luck based) or swamp tar from slimes, as Kellis said. Also, try break it down into smaller goals, go for 1m first, then 5m, 10m etc.
  2. No quest needed for hunting greens in chaos tunnels, though there is a miniquest in chaos tunnels which is a nice one to do if you like summoning: http://tip.it/runescape/?page=Hunt_For_Surok.htm You can range green dragons, I'm not sure if chaos tunnels is the best place for it but you could safe spot the greens on the edges there. Bring extra food anyway though because I have a feeling the baby black dragons wont get blocked with the green. Haven't been able to work on the guide much due to end of year exams :|
  3. I assume your hunting basilisks, in which case you can just find a safespot and kill it easily. If you can't find a safespot you can always entangle and mage/range the basilisks, just don't let it touch you.
  4. I swear your guides get more awesome every time I look at them  Just reading through and found something that I was thinking about the other day, I'm currently thinking that a slayer helm beats even an enchanted ammy (I have both, just in case someone says I'm saying this because I've never tried both methods). Salve offers 5% str and 5% att over a black mask (or is it accuracy and max hit? Doesn't really matter) but you have to remember that a fury, or even a glory, offers some pretty hefty stats for an amulet slot, I'll use the fury as an example. Stats: +10 attack + 15 defence +8 strength +5 prayer, the salve ammy on the over hand provide +0 magic defence, +0 visible attack, +0 strength, +3 prayer. What I'm getting at is that 5% isn't really THAT big when sized up with the bonuses of a fury. I don't know how valid doing math on this is because we don't know for sure if the percent is a boost of our equipment's stats. However, a 5% boost beats a fury once you surpass +160 strength bonus (100/5*8) and a 5% accuracy boost beats a fury once you surpass a 200 attack bonus. Obviously, the +10 defence is very useful if you're killing them the traditional way without a cannon and tanking them, and the prayer bonus speaks for itself, people pray against these a lot, whether they're cannoning or not. So really, the only time you should start to consider a salve (e) over a fury is when your using a godsword, which you shouldn't be using against a monster with such low defence in the first place. It isn't always a bad thing to be one-sided. If I wanted pure facts I could search any fan site and the abundance of info there is all I could ever ask for, it's interesting looking at things from other people's views and what they've found, because you won't find something like it on a fan site. Though I agree there has to be a limit, Kent's guides are well within it in my eyes. Keep up the great work kent
  5. Actually, GW hardly brings any cash into the game, it just makes the cash that already exists flow. ;) No barrows would be interesting, KQ would probably still be rather popular
  6. For training, I don't use anything but barrows legs (purely because i'm ~5m short of tassets), there is no repair cost really. Bandos plate suffices more than enough in defence, the strength bonus is nice and I suppose the prayer bonus would make a difference over time aswell (+ it has the look leet factor  ). Neitz helm/slayer helm woops barrow helms for training as well. So that leaves me with verac skirt. With 70 smithing, a rather average level for any self respecting quester, a full repair of a V skirt is around 57k cash. I spend 3.8K cash per hour, to put that in comparison, if I got a 5k cash drop, I probably wouldn't even pick it up. It's possible to make 1000k+ per hour, and every average joe can make for 200k-300k+ per hour, so there's no excuse for not using barrow sets over armour like rune/dragon unless you can't afford the barrows pieces themselves (which are dirt cheap nowadays, anyway). But in the end, Bandos takes my vote, I could care less if it had the same degrading system as barrows, it just looks too damn good ;)
  7. Oh please, who cares. Nearly every maxed melee player has afk'ed his or her stats at some stage, yet I've never heard of someone getting banned, or even warned, for it. TBH, it's just one of those things Jagex doesn't want to support but could care less about stopping it (Like swiftkit for all those years before Jagex realised people were getting viruses and got a tiny advantage). If you don't AFK train, that's all fine to me but you are depriving yourself of alot of time that you could spend multi-tasking. Also what I like better than AFKing is "semi" Afking, where you actually stay at the computer but minimize RuneScape and listen for randoms instead, even better use a second monitor for Runescape. Anyway, some nice spots, I remember training at skeletons for quite awhile before nearly anyone knew about it. However, your setup isn't the best for max xp/hr. Though you might like the buff DFS, rune defender DOES provide more exp per hour with a massive +19 slash. At something like yaks, skeletons and any typical training monster there should be no need at all for the extra defence (TBH, as a personal suggestion, sell the DFS and get a SS). Might want to put that in somewhere, other than that the guide is definitely coming along, good job. Any monster that you can 1-hit is not a good place to train, your cutting off your max hit.
  8. Don't use purely titan scrolls for training, but I'd argue that you should use them. Everyone knows using combat familiars is the best way to train, slayer or not. If you're in a multicombat zone bring a titan or two and all you normally would (potions, food, B2P, SGS, etc.), if to the end of the task (or camping trip) you run low on food then you should start using scrolls. I've saved myself from having to take a second trip to a slayer task many times doing this, while also not sacrificing exp by using a bunyip. If you only use scrolls to the end, the money you lose is very minimal aswell, and well worth the time saved.
  9. Was surprised to get such a good team of RSOF (only problem was a lvl 102 in black dhide top and d legs who would insist on tanking repeatadly and then when we finally give him the chance he didnt attack bandos fast enough and he wooped a 53 on one of us  ), I can't find any GWD clans that don't have low reqs like 90+ CB :| Was freaking out because I really needed the cash and it was my first good drop at bandos
  10. I keep chat on hide/friends constantly and the RS community has already killed more of my brain cells then death has taken lives. :? The community these days isn't bearable on a regular basis, I often keep my chat on hide on lookout for some of the rare courteous players, or in case I get any HYT's which I wouldn't want to miss ;) Otherwise, I keep my chat on hide and have learnt to just stop reading anything that is typical of RS. As for this thread, I'd think I'd be turning chat on friends right about now :|
  11. If you get below 40k exp, or anywhere near that at armoured zombies, your tactics in killing them fail... Heavily. TBH, if you're not just pulling numbers out of your rear like most do, you were probably doing several things wrong. Read up on one of the two guides found in general guides. Chuz suggest a familiar that can attack, but from what I make of it he was refering to armoured zombie, I believe? If he was, dont bring attack summons to armoured zombies because they're in single combat. Definitely bring one to zombie monkies though. I haven't had melee stats in the 70's for quite awhile now, but I guess you might be able to get 60k/hr using piety there, counting exp given to all attack, strength and defence. Don't take my word on that though. I'd stick with armoured zombie unless you're very rich TBH, by the time I use 2 super sets there I often can rack up 150k+ worth of loot.
  12. Obby sword is far better then drag scimmy, if you can afford to lose the accuracy and defence (berserker necklace stats... awful). Saradomin sword is the fastest strength training method. If you're training on monsters with relatively high defence, eg. Abby demons and apparently dark beasts, it is said that godsword is better. I haven't done any tests, but I'm hooked to GS'ing everything since I've got my GS  Sarasword ---> Obby sword ---> Drag scim ---> Godsword I know I'm forgetting a weapon there, but that's the order of weapons of which are best for training on low defence monsters.
  13. For the first question, I wouldn't bother without 127+ combat, wild dogs are a pain when you can't block them out with the dragon. The guide was made pre-summoning (thus, no 127+ combat) and the idea of ranging red dragons seemed to have left me, but it's easily done. In the middle of the room is a large pile of rocks where you can easily safe spot from. As for the second question, no. I use a super set on everything so it doesnt matter if I don't account for them (when comparing to other dragons at least), the only other pots I use are anti's when meleeing black dragons, which should only ever be done on tasks, and prayer pots at brutals/black dragon meleeing. The prayer pot usage is minimal (at brutals I believe it's ~3 prayer pots per hour) but I will try keep that in mind the next time I get around to updating the guide.
  14. How rich are you? If you are very rich, zombie monkies, else armoured zombies. I got 96-99 attack in 2 days of no lifing at zombie monkies over the holidays. Exp is simply insane (if you use the altar at monkies the exp will probably be better at armored zombies, so P pots only), but you lose profit. I believe someone (probably kent  ) counted that you need to make 1.2m per/hour doing whatever you do to make money to make zombie monkies overall better then armoured zombies. It can be difficult to make that much, even in GWD, so armored zombies are probably your better choice unless your loaded and ready to spend on a new 99.
  15. For whatever reason, addy armour is the heaviest in all of runescape (more then rune and dragon). So if you're going to try it, remember to bring addy.
  16. Hally works, but range will get you faster kills and you can rack up a better prayer bonus using god books aswell. If you're looking to melee them then your best choices are either Veracs or any godsword (saradomin preferably).
  17. All long posts like this screwed up when TIF switched to the new forum type. The only way you're going to be able to read that guide is if the author saved a backup. Try PM him/her but if the guide is not fixed yet, I'm doubtful that a backup was kept, or that the author quit TIF. I have no idea what google cache is, but I've seen people view old web pages with it after they were taken down, perhaps that might work? Aside from all that, there's a great barrows guide in AoW right now, and about a million others for you to splurge on in general guides.
  18. I'm not getting to say anything about F2P not derserving anything, due to flame wars and the traddition of holiday events for all, but no holiday event has EVER had ANY real practical use. Your holiday event is the same as the rest, it's not nerfed, so stop whining. As for riding the broom, I'm surprised Jagex didn't implement it, I'm sure many people would have enjoyed it - F2P and P2P.
  19. I spend 30k in runes alone using dart just on one chest. I spend 10k with sally. If you're really determined to do multiple chests per trip (which all in all will bring you more profit in the end, even if you do have to sub out some more expensive methods) you're probably going to have the ditch the sally, purely because you can't safely safespot with it in tunnels, mainly referring to dharok but it goes for all the melee brothers. Definitely get a better cape (obby, a treasure trail god cloak or god cape), it might be nice but you don't barrow for looks  Buy some barrows armour, you can easily tank torag, guthan and verac with your stats, ALOT better then rune. Take the time to get a rune defender, the difference is huge and it will save you prayer points on karil because yours dds specs will be ALOT more effective. Bring a super set, they aren't THAT expensive. If you're really that concerned of cost, use a str pot instead of super str. I'd use broad bolts over emerald, ahrim is a quick kill so the poison isnt really that important. Obviously, bring prayer pots. Using GS I can get 5+ chests with 4 prayer pots. The amount of P pots to bring varies for everyone, just experiment with it, but start with around 4. Now, if you really want to get efficient, bring pineapple pizzas (never bring sharks, the safespots make them useless here) and when you need to eat, run to a safespot and quickly eat there, it works ALOT better then monks. Lastly, bring home tabs instead of laws/dusts. Your order in killing them is perfect for maging methods. If you do all that, you'll get some very very efficient barrowing. :)
  20. TIF doesn't change usernames, though they can, it's more of their policy not to. Aparrantly, in rare cases, TIF staff get their usernames chagned if they hold a good reason to but I've never seen or heard of it being done. Personally, I hate my username, I started using it when I was ~13 because I couldn't think of a username that was avaivable on each game that I play, I'd gladly remember more then one username now :( To be honest, if it really annoys you, make a new account and PM anyone you would like to know that you are using a new account. Or you might like to put it in your signature for awhile.
  21. Nice guide : Especially nice because I've been buying a lot of curry's lately for my chaos element hunting  Curry is also good for your metabolism I hear ;)
  22. Well I've killed around 10 KBD's so far using this method, so I'll clear up what seems to be a rather large misunderstanding. Protect from mage works here, used with an anti fire, you do just fine. I think I know why people would think otherwise - Mithril dragons hit heavily through this same combo (thus why using veracs there has never really caught on), while standard dragon breath get stopped completely. It seems KBD is somewhere between, but closer to standard dragon protection. I don't take particular notice to the hits I take unless they're large, but I don't recall any 20+ firebreath hits, the melee hits don't high high very much at all (at least not on verac armour and 90 defence). However I saw a video of someone being hit 44-33 because he forgot his mage prayer so perhaps that's where the rumor originates from. I estime a max hit of 16-18 from firebreath - a negligible difference from the max's i'm hearing about when an anti shield is used (~10) In any case, I can kill 5-6 KBD's with GS soloing in one trip, using a tortoise summon & 3 prayer potions. I recall only being able to kill 1 with whip, but my stats were much lower back when I whipped there so it's an unfair comparison, admittedly. Thanks for posting all, this seems quite a fun thing to do when I'm bored of training
  23. To anyone wondering the same as me, I just tried it after watching some vids and with piety and a super set I soloed my first one with 2 sharks, BGS spec hit 34. It's very possible, very easy
  24. I was relatively sure you could GS the KBD with anti fires and mage protect, but can you? I looked at Tip.It's KBD guide and seems to be clearly stated that bringing a 2h melee weapon will result in your death. My stats are more then enough for kbd so taking a hit a tiny bit larger then normal is bearable.
  25. Says who? Though you may not necessarily agree, some people enjoy killing defencless players. Is it wrong? No? Yes? In the end it really comes down to the fact that it's none of anyone's business, people do what THEY enjoy and that's the way an ideal game is structured and played. So there is a bit of a challenge in it, is there? ;) I'm not saying it's hard, but in the end, whether it's for drops or for the thrills, it is a risk that the skiller directly took and if it's up to me, he'll get his risk. In the same way, I will many times accept the risk of skilling in pvp worlds, I accept the fact that people can and will attack me - We agreed to this upon joining a PVP world. I'm proud to say I'm no "Honor" follower either  Don't take this post as a flame, though it seems wilderness brings out the worst in everyone, which is the only reason that I would rather the pvp worlds never come out, unfair it may be. I whole heartily agree with this topic - anyone who whines about being killed skilling in a pvp worlds really needs to grow a pair and accept it. Rather, they should just listen to themselves and realize how ridiculous their claims are. Lastly, i'm not going to bother with the "Honor" argument. It's a topic been beat dead over again, though some people try hang on to it, whether it makes them feel good about themselves I don't know, it's completely illogical. In my honest opinion, and if this sparks a flame war I won't reply back, people who truly believe in honor were just brought up badly - they got spoilt and have a difficult time accepting simple fairness. Just to repeat, if a flame war comes up don't expect me to respond lest I see constructive reasons. :|
