  1. Good job DF! Better luck next time 'The'.
  2. Passwords are stored in databases but they're encrypted.. meaning that no one, including people who have access to the database, can crack your password. They exploited code to mess around with that. Kinda disappointed here. Luckily I use a different password for everything, but damn, I can't help but think how many accounts were hacked this way. Really uncool.
  3. Indeed. It's a complete conflict of interest, and mods who insist on using muting as a strategy of war should be punished.
  4. Oh great, the "tip it is too severe" story again. How original. If there's one thing I don't think anybody can complain about it's about the mods their looseness imho. Please give examples of what you say, I'll give examples of why you can't complain: 1. This topic got locked (http://forum.tip.it/topic/288420-is-tip-it-dead-or-not/) for a good reason. It was a useless topic, so no need to keep it open. 2. This topic is handeled very loose imho. (http://forum.tip.it/topic/287474-please-welcome-our-newest-cl/ ) Its a congratz topic, but yet again some cowboys find it necessary to start baiting and whining about stuff going on or not going on at tip it CD, instead of putting some effort in making a decent well typed out topic to discuss it. Only Danny decided to do that, but of some of the others I am yet to see a suggestion about how we can help out. Please find me examples of too severe moderation? I'm honestly interested. Do you want a RSCommunity scenario (with all due respect) where everybody can act like a moron (well, I'm afraid it's the best some can do) and just support the decline in quality clans have to suffer the last years? I sure don't. I've seen one too many posts from mods saying "stay on topic" and even going as far as deleting half the threads (especially controversial war topics), because they've either gone off topic or there's too much flaming. As long as there isn't something really innapropriate (such as racist comments or extremely personal attacks), then there is NO reason to delete it. I personally don't need to be babysat, and that's why I feel this way. Don't have anything against the mods, but would like to see them loosen up a bit... I'm not saying this for the sake of complaining, but just expressing how I really feel. The lock/delete-everything attitude really brings the mood down here.
  5. My only suggestion is to lose the uptight moderating styles. There's no reason to lock threads or just as bad, delete posts within a thread, just cause they're not on topic, or there's a bit of drama in the air (as long as it doesn't go too far).. let the topic progress naturally and quit being so high maintenance. If people are jumping to another topic within a thread, it's for a reason... just be happy that people are posting at all here. Can't stress this enough.
  6. The fact that we mustered 60 ops at 7 AM EST (5 AM my time) is pretty impressive. Good job AA.
  7. Good job 'The'! TMRD reopened? Cool!
  8. So pretty much this topic only allows for "Grats" type posts? Gimme a break. Why does modding have to be so uptight here?
  9. lol @ this being the best activity tipit has ever had. tipit was clan central back in RSC and for a very short time at the beginning of RS2... even after though, it was more active than now - it just seems like it's been going downhill since. But tipit is far from dead, and still has a chance to be #1 :P
  10. I hope I speak for a lot of people here when I say - what a waste of life! Grats!
  11. Oh well, no matter how dead it is here - tipit > RSC, always. Grats!
  12. Are we gonna have a clan name with "Holocaust" in it soon too? These names just keeping getting worse and worse... but.. uhhh, welcome!
  13. I haven't logged in to try out the new g/e, but the only issue I could see with the g/e is the time lag to reflect new prices. I.e. it updates only once a day. But if anything, it is MORE economically efficient than before, as it actually reflects the true price of an item, without putting a floor or ceiling - thus limiting the magnitude an item can rise/fall. It also facilitates for efficient trade - no horrendous transaction costs which would be the case standing in world 2 and shouting "selling" something for an hour... huge opportunity cost. Basically, the g/e this way actually reflects the TRUE MARKET PRICE - and is thus efficient. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.
  14. Ooooh 60 ops in P2P? Love it. Any of your old members return just to relive the wild again?
  15. I don't seem to remember any form of ACing in the days of the wild. I dont think anyone's willing to AC like that - sounds pretty boring for the ACers.
  16. A lot of the people on Tipit were never even around during the wilderness, so I'm just looking forward to seeing them [bleep] and complain and ask to bring PvP/BH back. Although I personally prefer the old wild to the new PvP/BH thing, and definitely free trade, there are some negatives that come with the wild - specifically that PKing activity will be diffused, and the PK realm will seem much less active... One thing I hated about the old wild was being out for hours; jumping from world to world, and finding no one to fight. Of course RS has a lot more players now but you get my point. But maybe the PK/war themed worlds will help relieve this problem. Other than that, won't affect me much cause I haven't logged onto RS for months, and Downfall doesn't really do CWA anymore, so I think they have lots to look forward to with the change.. but overall I think it'll be a positive change for the clan world!
  17. If we want tipit to become clan central again (which would be tons of work), one really important thing that has to change is the administration of this forum - Im talking specifically about the moderating.. it's late, so I briefly scanned the topic, and it seems like someone else has mentioned it too. Let me make it clear that I have nothing against the mods here; it just seems like that the way they are told to operate is a bit too high maintenance; threatening to delete posts that are off-topic or mildly offensive, or locking topics for whatever reason, or banning members because of drama (this is the clan world - drama is part of the fun for some people). RSC has always been an 'anything goes' type board - I'm not insisting that tipit goes that far, but perhaps the mods here could relax a bit? Don't we all remember what drove all the clans away in the first place? The mods on tipit! Secondly, I've always thought that the TWR was a joke - sorry, but it doesn't reflect true clan strength AT ALL. Essentially, all that matters is how much you war. A more hybrid or strength-oriented rankings system needs to be implemented. And the TWR isnt even active at all. It seems like a lot of clans (including Downfall, who used to be the most active on TWR) have pulled away from it.. further puts a crack in its credibility. Thank god the old wilderness might be coming back - hopefully that scales back the CWA activity... too much of that on tipit :P Think that's another turn off keeping the top clans from coming back. In reality, it'd be awesome if tipit could go back to its glory days (which unfortunately quickly ended after RS2 was released), but that will take a lot of work.. small steps would be good.. this place just seems too static; do something pleasssseee.. nice to see an active discussion about it though.
