  1. I was going to rate this rather low myself, but seeing the number of people flaming has bumped my opinion up \ It heals as much as a bunyip, costs just over 1/3 of what it did a few months ago - is dropping almost every day, but it's still a rather hawt weapon. :P Grats on achieving a goal that means a lot to you, 44m isn't much in the eyes of a lot of people but it definitely still takes work. 6.5/10.
  2. melee skills max at 100k xp/hour on ape atoll (~1/6 gp/xp for potions used) fletching is over 400k xp/hour with adamant bolts (~1 gp/xp) cooking is 250k/hour with sharks (~1/6 gp/xp), faster with wines firemaking is 140k/hour with maples (~1/3 gp/xp), faster with higher logs of course making 250k/hour (at the very least) with runecrafting it would take 76 hours of rcing (although as you get pouches and better runes the profit goes up) to earn all that money, and 177 hours to do the skilling would make 253 hours melee skills would take 130 hours each for a total of 390 hours, keeping in mind that 100k/hour is extremely difficult to attain. cba with math for the potions :P That said I doubt anyone will take the time to prove my point since no one wants to take the time to create and account just for the purpose of getting the 3 easiest 99s (by easiest, I mean the 3 that take the least amount of time, including the time it takes to earn money for them, which would definitely be firemaking, cooking, and fletching).
  3. thanks everyone and i still lu simon actually got this shortly after my first, I just haven't updated in ages lol. funny I went 85-almost 89 slayer with no whips then got 2 in short order :P also did this: I'm closing on charms for 96 summon, as well as 94 melees and 90 slayer... combine with a bank pic and I might actually do a rate this lol haven't had time yet to kill corp more than once ffs, the one time we only killed it once lol, was a 5 man team... I was the only not maxed person along. :P due to the extreme pro-ness of the team we were using ls instead of cs since sun said he'd go emo if a sigil went on the ge L I'm getting a bit frustrated with school atm, no time for rs lol. need to monster hunt.
  4. A notion that would be compelling if there were more than 144 quests currently in existence. I think the story of Arrav is really cool, but I also don't expect anything massive from this update - remember that either the undead will not reach varrock, or they will be repelled, since obviously jagex can't have a varrock filled with zombies after the quest is completed. If it is a big quest, it would have to be multi-part anyways. Could be wrong of course.
  5. oops didn't find it in time to flame :P at least you has sgs now, more ftw. tbh you could probably have bought ags with 3a as well though lol.
  6. I got a clue from bork once too lol. Still buying feathers btw.
  7. I lol'd too haha  someone pointed out, probably correctly, that even though it seems like the shields are dubious now, it will take time for people to figure out the different applications, which might be ginormous. I just don't want my DFS to drop :XD: and thanks to everyone who <3s me and/or my blog, or just bumps it ilu did a mutated veld task without event today, then a very fun sp mage task :P after that a dag task, I'll do the clue tomorrow. new task is black demons.
  8. I really don't understand your logic. If the shield prevents 8 damage, you lose 4 prayer points. If you get 32 prayer points from a super restore, that means that if you are wielding the Elysian shield, 256 damage will be prevented before you use up a 4 dose restore trying to make up for the prayer drain.. This is quite large compared to what you get from a 4 dose brew (in fact, it is four times what you would get from a four dose brew) It is true that you'll also be taking damage at the same time, but that doesn't change the fact that you will be able to determine how much HP you personally can save with one inventory slot. What I listed above was for 99 prayer and 99 HP. HOWEVER you also have to consider that by the time you PREVENT 256 damage, you will have taken about 597 damage, which translates into over 9 whole brews used to heal the remaining unprevented damage. So it is clear that you can't just take a bunch of restores to places and just expect to heal 7,168 damage with a load of prayer healing. But, it should also be clear to you, that if you can simply change up your ratio a little bit, you can save huge. Say youre going somewhere that you would typically use 18-19 brews at. While using the Elysian shield, you'd need only TWO super restore potions to restore all the prayer that will be drained over using your whole load of brew. This translates into 512 damage that you can prevent by just having the E shield plus those two little restore pots. In case you still haven't been following the math this translates into 8 brew worth of healing. And...in the very long run...2 restores is cheaper than 8 brews. :P HOWEVER (again) the real excitement with this shield comes from our friend the unicorn. It is very possible that a guaranteed 30% damage reduction will open up new areas for people to have their only healing be via unicorn. Not only that, but you may be able to use uni-only at GWD areas with fewer numbers now. Also we must consider possibilities of using some of the current setups, but simply carrying the E shield along for the ride. It could save some headaches at DKs when you get completely wrecked due to bad luck and see that your ppots are in way excess over your health restoring abilities. Swap out the shield and then the ratio will start to balance out. Not saying its the most brilliant idea ever, but its certainly an interesting possibility. *EDIT* Just did some more math for the other shield. If you get a perfect statistical damage prevention (i.e. if the ability honestly activates 7 times for every 10 times you take damage), then 17.5% of all damage will be prevented (in a technical sense). This translates into using 14.85-15.675 brews worth of healing where you would've previously had to use 18-19 brews to heal. Meaning you'll save 3.15-3.325 brews. Comparing this to the E shield, where you will get 8 brews worth of healing from taking 18-19 brews worth of damage, but have to use 2 super restores in addition...it seems very unclear as to what the BETTER shield is. While the two abilities may seem relatively similar, they differ vastly. Im not here to say the E shield is far superior...I'm just here to say that its ridiculous for anyone to be playing it off as a 100% inferior shield. the argument for the E shield is valid, but look at it from another point of view with guthans and a unicorn it's already possible to trio sara without any brews what further need for healing/damage prevention is there? the incredible healing of the unicorn means these shields will only have any use in monster hunting (edit while proofreading... I suppose if you have a high level titan you might want to substitute it for the unicorn, making the shields more useful in activites like slayer, but I don't think the difference with DFS will be that large)... and GWD/Corporeal Beast are the only types of monster hunting where you take considerable damage that still have rewards that make them at all worth pursuing for profit. As mentioned, the most profitable gwd - sara - can already be done perfectly without any brews... why tack on the need for increased restore consumption? I don't know enough about the corporeal beast to say anything in that regard, but I suppose it's possible to envision that this would be slightly more useful there... one should keep in mind that not many kills/trip are possible at the beast anyways though, and that how long you can stay is less of an issue there since banking and getting back is so fast. and as for the shield that doesn't drain prayer, it's probably better than a DFS, but given the higher defense of the DFS, the difference probably isn't too stark... definitely not worth the tens of millions over the DFS it will cost for a very very long time
  9. you, sir, are clueless you will spend the majority of your time dancing underneath the beast to heal yourself, thus preventing KOs (unless you mess up) the cannon is basically to stop him from healing to full hp z spear/ruby bolts to wear him down maybe ice barrage or zgs the dark core to get him off you? I have heard from clans that he can still hit/do damage even though you are underneat. Not 100% sure on the accuracy of this, but if thats the case, good luck. The cannon attacks once, maybe twice in its full rotation, there is a good 2-3 maybe 4 seconds that the cannon is not attacking. I doubt that would stop him from healing. Plus... how do you plan on doing the tango/restocking the cannon balls at the same time... well no monster can attack you while you are under it as for the cannon, I think it would be fairly easy to refill... heal to full hp, use cballs on cannon, click cannon, run back. you wouldnt get hit more than once in regard to whether it would stop him from healing, I assumed that the topic poster had evidence to support this, looking back I'm not sure he does lol. sorry if I seemed rude, some of the theatrics in your post weren't necessary IF the cannon stops him from healing I think this could be done with brews and restores and a lot of practice

  11. summer quests ftw charging in with no idea what to do even more ftw
  12. Thanks Chozarius, Cavveh, Sugar, Hobo, and Albal (thanks sooo much, it's great to know someone finds this interesting lol. I'll try to solo a hilt as soon as I can. :() and jordan, you need to work on your spelling due to an absurd amount of homework I haven't had time for anything but the occasional slayer task lately, I got one step closer to all 90+ lately though the unicorn gave out with 9 wyverns left so I had to bank ftl lol. next time I am taking 2 for sure. haven't had any time yet, but I am DYING to go and hunt some corporeal beast... come this weekend I should finally have a chance. and hopefully by then other people will have perfected the tactics lol. I hope all these new shields don't make the DFS tank, they aren't that great tbh... why would I want to sacrifice prayer for hitpoints when I have a unicorn. the one with a chance of reducing damage looks kinda promising, I doubt the loss of str bonus is worth it though. imo it's a great boss with mediocre rewards
  13. You have to figure in that this is merely a damage REDUCTION. You wouldn't have 200 hp in one inventory spot, you will simply have saved some damage. The prayer deduction also means that you wont be able to use it at area's where prayer is neccesairy, since you will more easily be outa prayer. The shield is good yes, but not as good as the 70% chance of a 25 damage reduction one. That's exactly what I was thinking, stuff the prayer drain. Also, on using zamorak spears...is it because it is a crush weapon? or a zamorak weapon? if it's the zamorak thing, would a ZGS possibly be better? There's no way in hell that I'm buying that rubbish just for this, but interesting nonetheless. because it's stab
  14. Unicorn is all the hp I'd ever need in most places (including saradomin godwars, which currently remains the best money in the game), I don't know why I'd want to give up prayer for something I have a basically unlimited supply of already. I'll take the higher def of the DFS any day. The shield with a 70% chance of reducing damage by 25% looks more promising though. Ultimately, I'd say this will not become a revolutionary way of making money. The shields will not outlast godswords in price.

  16. I paid 24m for my dfs lol. It's probably going to drop, unfortunately only because people are stupid... I imagine whatever the spirit shields are, they will be out of reach for the majority of the population of runescape. I'm keeping it because I don't think I'll get a spirit shield for a very long time and I need a good shield.
  17. when I did the quest, there was no color at all to the graves... I just guessed what to bless until I got it right lol
  18. Yea, that's why Jagex isn't giving a reward at all for winning clan wars. Other than it would be pathetically easy to give rewards and still work around that limitation. Just set a 10 player minimum for both sides. Only way that could be rwted would be for the rwt to run 19 bots simultaneously, and the rewards would be only 1/10th, divided among the 9 bots and the one buyer on the winning side. Or raise it to 20. Or 30. Or they get 10 gold buyers.
  19. this blog scares me, lol good luck with the cooking and fishing and stuff
  20. cannon more \ excellent achievements, I need to catch up
