Quest Requirements, Should we know?
I think all the information in-game and in the KB about quest requirements should be removed. You should figure out for yourself what you need to continue on with the quest. Would add a lot to the explore/adventure aspect, even if it stopped idiots from 'getting it'. I think it would be well worth the sacrifice.

Dexter
As previously mentioned in this thread, it was leaked. And it's in fine quality, but not the greatest. Just the first episode as far as I could find.

Dexter
There's a lot of things that they can do with Dexter, but are just savouring for the last several seasons, like him following the downward spiral of a serial killer, or killing an innocent person that doesn't fit his code...etc. This is why Season 1 and 2 were so fulfilling because such types of conflicts about a serial killer were presented - him killing someone he 'loved', challenging the boundaries of his code...etc. In Season 3 though it was repeating these conflicts in a different skin. It was boring and didn't have the twists and turns we had come to expect. Season four though, was definitely built upon the storyline of Season 3, and to be honest a family dad perspective is going to be killer for Dexter. Adds a lot more to the scenario than what we'd come to think. Then again, Season 4 episode 1 left us a cliffhanger, that Dexter will probably shrug off by Episode 3, and not have any effect at all on the future storyline. Hollywood cliffhangers ftw! That or I'm totally wrong, but it would follow suit. And I also think the episode was leaked on purpose and that cliffhanger is being milked.

How has this game not been made?
The problem today is that content is hard coded, and not flexible. Designing such systems that can be made to make pretty much anything will take a long time, but once all of these systems that are flexible, and allow practically anyone to change the variables and states, then any kind of content will be possible. But for now we'll be stuck with ridiculously long development periods. Actually Japan is already on this case, and not entirely sure about the rest of the world. It pretty much goes hand in hand with how advanced AI should work, but not as advanced... So unless that ever comes around to being a mainstream thing, a game like this will take something like the Source engine Valve has, and a game that could allow for such a capability. To be honest Left 4 Dead and the DevKit pretty much could make this game that you've described, but it would just take a long period of time.

Change of Forum Software - UPDATED!
It really doesn't matter in the long run whether or not the conversion overlaps or is done on a patch day.

Funorb Forum
I think there's too much thought put into the decision of adding a forum. Take pretty much any forum that has been added in the past two years and there's the same sort of arguments in those topics as in this topic. You have the arguments that it won't be active enough, there's no interest, and then you have the counter-arguments that say there's no activity because there's no place for them, and the 'if you make it, they will come' arguments. Just create the forum, tell people about it, give it a chance and after a month or two, if it hasn't met expectations or isn't worth having, just remove it. The amount of things that could have become something but were shot down for not 'appearing' to have any interest or any place on these boards is probably quite a large chunk of content. I don't get why there has to be a huge block for a simple decision of yes/no, especially when the said topic the forum would be on is well-known, and is actively played by a few thousand users daily.

Wow a level 138! Discusion on what impresed you
Only somewhat. From 2002 to now, things have become more common, or easier to obtain to get, so they're no longer more impressive. Go back two years ago, and having all the Barrows Sets was a pretty darn good thing, but even having two or three sets was also pretty impressive. But now they're fairly easy to obtain through buying or through actually doing the work. Thus they've lost their symbol of status. Meanwhile things like phats are never going to lose their status, but things like Mining capes, RC capes, Slayer capes, Smithing capes...etc, will eventually lose their value once Jagex makes that skill easier to level, or there's a sudden reason to get a 94+ level in the skills. A lot has impressed me and I was kind of spoiled as the first thing that impressed me was someone wearing a green phat, and I was like godly jealous. Until I got my own, then realized how worthless it was. Lol. But it's still impressive to see people with the Blue or white phats.

Change of Forum Software - UPDATED!
I've used it before with a large sum of users and it's not complicated or hard at all. Especially with the warn log system. But not using it in the beginning is a good point, just hoping it's not going to be blocked out for silly reasons as it being complicated when it takes four seconds to find out who the person is and their history, regardless of display name.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Why do people who primarily play games on the computer think they're better than people who play games on consoles? Are you paranoid? Or just lack in technical knowledge? It's pretty basic to know they develop a working PC game first, then port it to the specifications of the XboX 360/other consoles. And to be honest, look at the XboX 360 right now, it's playing catch-up to the PC. Trying to get social networking in there, getting those old classic games in the arcade, streaming movies with netflix, ability to dock your zune/mp3 player in there...etc. Meanwhile the PC has been able to do this since consoles anyways. From a technical standpoint consoles are just cash-ins for companies because the consumers are being divided into each console or platform and thus they're making money off of dividing gamers between platforms. I'm pretty sure that if you remove consoles, there's a few billion dollars that wouldn't be made, but compared to the PC, consoles are just excess weight. And I didn't say that someone who played on a PC was better than someone who played on a console. Both types of people have been conditioned to like consoles or PC's more, hence the fanboyism found in almost any console. Any type of platform to game on takes skill, and between a controller with analog sticks and the PC with a mouse, it's impossible to compare who would be better between those two.

What is your ping like?
There's more than just ping calculated into why the world would be 'best' for you. My lowest ping is 69 on a Washington server. And I'm Canadian, an live in Ontario. Fail Jagex fail. On the Canadian servers I have 85 and 101.

Antibodies found that prevent HIV from causing severe AIDS
Oh and this too. So let's see what's the motivation behind trying to find a cure: Well most are funded by private companies, aka as pharmaceutical companies. How many conspiracies there? So back to the money, what happens when the thousands of scientists trying to find a cure finally don't need to anymore? Where does this large mass of biology majored scientists go? Pretty much nowhere. I can see why there may be 'delays' in the progress.

IGN's top 25 best videogame consoles of all time
I've owned a N64, Gamecube, Ps2, and Xbox 360. I think my picks would be pretty biased. Never been a console guy, but playing the old games on simulators is a pretty good history lesson in the development of games and why some of them were so epic, even without using the controllers.

Antibodies found that prevent HIV from causing severe AIDS
He has his point and it's strongly fueled by the fact that the media blows stuff out of proportion for viewers. If any of you actually read any top science magazines/journals, you'd realize the amount of crap that the media chooses to and not to publicize. It's ridiculous, and disgusting. As well, it asks me why they didn't try this 'part' of the virus, by now I'd have hoped everything about the virus had been detailed. Media skips part of the story again.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
If by PC, you mean the computer, why wouldn't there be a decent port? I'm 99% sure they developed for the PC first, then converted/ported it for the 360/whatever other worthless console later.

Seems like MechScape is Stellar Dawn
To be honest, all the data is probably online, all they'll have to do is just change or redirect their URLs. If not then Jagex is going to be rushed to deploy all the data within weeks for a beta. Or in beta they'll slowly publicize the information. Which would lead that beta would be an excuse to get their foot in the door, without falling down first. Which means special invite only beta first, FTW. Stellar Dawn is very catchy. SD not so much. Kudos to whoever gets the find. It is kind of old news though if you've been following the hard work of those looking for clues. So meh. Cool. I really don't care about the name as long as the name doesn't hinder the game's capability in the MMO or gaming industry.

Change of Forum Software - UPDATED!
Oh what, so in the future I may actually be able to post a topic to suggest something, and it may, may just be possible for once. What an interesting concept, lawl. And for those scared about the image thumbnails, it's probably possible to disable the thumbnail/shrinking within the hide tags. So if they used the hide tags, they could be as large as whatever, and the hide tags would not represent the width of the image to distort the page either. But if they just posted the image it could be resized. Everyone wins. And I'm pretty sure it's always easier to disable a feature than to create the function. Read through the topic, and I don't know if I missed the clarification on what forum skin we'll be using. Are we going to try and convert certain skins, or is that included in the conversion that IPB offers as well? The only thing about IPB is how they've layed everything out and how spacial it looks, and how annoying that feels to use. Hopefully the skins we use can eliminate this. Everything else about it is definitely better than phpBB. --> Why aren't display names going to be used? With Jagex's plan for name changing, and two previous topics about the issue that both claimed that if Display Names became a possibility than name changing would be considered? With these two reasons, it seems faulty to not enable Display Names.

Impossible Achievements
Whatever the achievement was to unlock an easter egg in the original Donkey Kong game. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/06/donke ... ears-late/ First, everyone knew this achievement/easter egg was available, just no one knew how. It took 26 years and a lot of encouragement from employees to get people working on finding out how to get the achievement. Yet who the easter egg is for, doesn't even care. So think about that, this would have been an impossible achievement that would never have been found or won or achieved, without cheating (going through the code) or the amount of prestige to obtain it after so long. The point is, figuring out how to get the achievement is how you'd get the achievement, like figuring it out would be equal to killing 500k zombies in Left 4 Dead in under two days with no mods. That's pretty incredible and deserves credit.

Jagex Reveal Mechscape Details
I will wait as long as possible for Mechscape, if it is what Jagex states it is. What they're talking about in these interviews is content and game play mechanics that would revolutionize the entire MMO sector of gaming. Yet this is also why I'm skeptical, and is also why so many other developer studios have played on this demand, and made a lot of money in the short run but failed in the long run. Whether Jagex actually has moral and cares for their games is a personal decision, but thus far I'd say they do.
