Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
It's classified, but when you'd have to pay 3x as much as anyone else for membership, you'd think of something too. Why do u have to pay for 3x as much? ... 1. people in estonia don't use credit cards(because we don't like to get ripped off every day...) 2. Members pin is ~11 pounds. That's jagex for ya. Even with a credit card, members is 6 pounds here. And you'd think there aren't too many people from estonia playing runescape...but aasiwat, enrix e b, l6vi, bonebreaker6 and lydomina would disagree with that(just to name a few former number ones, there are plenty of maxed people playing also).

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
heh, but you gotta pick your battles some things are worth getting riled up over, and some arent if the milk was expired, id want a refund. if there was a slight nick in the label obscuring the nutritional information - i'd deal with it after a hard day dealing with a lot of [bleep]s, i couldnt care less about the price rise of a welfare pking item so what are you personally doing to fight this climbing boot injustice? i challenge you now - 'xpx' - if this update is so concerning to you, so worth getting worked up over - vote with your feet and put your money where your mouth is you wont, because ultimately this update is just a nick in the label and you are all talk, no action not going to comment on the personal remarks, you're wrong, and they add no value to this discussion I havn't payed a dime for runescape anyway, so it really doesn't concern me as far as money is concerned. As for sticking it to jagex, getting them all puffed up because of the update was a goal in itself, and i must say, it worked really well. Showing them that they just can't get away with [cabbage] like this was the goal in mind. As for quitting, would jagex really notice if i quit(again, for a ~10th time)? Ofcource not, so it's not really the one solution to beat all the others. Thinking this update was only about changing the price of only one item is very shortsighted.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
just read this lmao 3 pound fifty a month? i spend more than that daily on my busfare to work, if my bus is slightly late one day i'l be irritated - then 20 mins will pass and i'l get over it my bus being slightly late is a larger inconvenience to me than this rock climbing update has been so i got over it your post only shows that someone somewhere takes something too seriously You sure don't know how the world goes around. It's not about the cost, it's about the product you are getting. If he milk you bough from a store had expired, you'd want your money back, whether it cost 5 p or 5 pounds. The customer is the king, and this is not at all about taking things too seriously. To be honest, you seem to te the typical guy to walk away from clear injustice, getting yourself walked on, being counted on to rip you off. If i see someone getting beat up on the streed i'd rush to help them, i'd like to see who will help you?

mage slaying
You are asking the wrong question, efficency or no efficency. You want to lose as little money as possible while mage slaying, but are looking at it from the wrong perspective. The money you make while mage slaying the good droppers will equal out with the money you don't make while killing the bad droppers, and if the good droppers are more resistant to magic than the bad droppers, you are actually losing money doing so. So what would i suggest you do? Unless you can only get those tasks meantioned on this thread that make money while mage slaying(though i'd say there are only 2, abbys and ice strykes, atleast with surge) the best way would be to mage slay the monsters with little mage defence and melee the others, since as an aveage, it'll cost you less and you'll get more mage xp, but ofcource, it's completely up to you. If asking for advice, giving the best advice available should be the goal, and you just can't look past efficency then. Unless that, you answered your question in the first post.

mage slaying
Does it really matter to break even on an abyssal task and then melee 2 gargoyle tasks, or to do it all the other way around? You'd be getting the same drops anyway, the only thing that changes is mage def, which is low for most of the slayer creatures. Breaking even on a single task is pointless since you'd be losing money on it anyway, so the best idea is to actually mage the tasks for which you hit the best, not those which have good drops. This is the concept alot of people fail about averages.

mage slaying
he's mage slaying because he enjoys it stfu about efficancy. You do know what the help and advice forum is for? Acting as a 5 year old when someone gives other people good advice is not it. Telling me to shut the [bleep] up shows your immaturity, not how helpful either of us can be. Most of the people coming to these forums are looking for efficency so it's his fault he hasn't worded his questions well enough and it's his choice weather he wants to take my advice or not, afterall, it's his time being used. So to take this into perspective: the only boarderline effective task for mage slaying is ice strykewyrms, with all other tasks being ineffective in terms of profit and experience, so the most efficient thing to do would just be getting it done with as fast as possible, maging all tasks. It doesn't matter if you mage abyssals and melee greaters or the other way around since the money you will lost will average out to be the same(since you'd be getting the same drops anyway), the only thing that differs is the profit from a single seperate task.

It's not always about the update at hand. By showing that we(most of the players) aren't going to put up with s**t like this from jagex, they'll think twice before stepping into a bucket like this again. It's actually good for the game. If the players didn't care, neither would jagex, which wouldn't be good for the product we buy.

The Fastest XP Possible?
How is this relevant to the thread? Actually, paying for someone to do it for you is much faster.

Vambrace drops
I completely agree with you, you should hav your eyes cheked. Apart from that, you'd get exited about mith chain??? whoa...

Seriously, Jagex?
Well it's unfortuanate that the guy lost his account, we all know that, and most of us would hope he does get it back, though it's unlikely, BUT, what turns me on, and seemingly Omali, is the fact that he doesn't at all aknowledge his mistake in all this, and thinks jagex is responsible for all that he has been trough. If you don't aknowledge your mistakes you can't learn from them either, but it's still a good case for all of us to learn from.

A good article(the boots one) though i think the next one should concentrate on what happens if certain players get news about updates before those updates actually happen, since, as i've been told, it's not the first time this has happent, and those players have each time been given a clear, unfair advantage. Also for those who underestimate the number of boots- climbing boots were released in 2004, almost 6 years ago, and until slayer they were the best boots in game, and only became clearly useless(atleast for most people) with the release of gwd(dragon boots). Thus, in 6 years time, of which for 3 years they were the best or one of the best boots in game, there were a very large dumber of those brought into the game(at 12 gp per pair). Furthermore, as of late, everyone who pk-ed at +1 worlds used these boots(as did i, with 143 boots) and we all died VERY often, usually 4 times an hour for more, so having a big stash wasn't anythig unusual. Not to mention those who merchanted these boots(and you could see the buyouts from the graph). Also the did you know is incorrect, it's 30k experience per day, not per day per skill.

Will Jagex reply on Monday?
Well i atleast hope they will provide with some news about the leak and an apology for it, because it was clear there were people gathering these boots a day before the update. As for the update itself, it was clearly done by someone with little knowledge about the game and executed poorly, but i can't really expect an apology for it as that'd be very un-jagex-like. None of the replys by jagex have said anything about the leak yet, so if they don't.....

Maul vs CLS vs CR
Well for a task of 219 daggonoths that i just did my rapier it degraded 3%, which isn't much at all. All in all 239 fire giants, 195 black demons and 219 daggonoths took 7% charge, all done in wither CT or lighthouse. Also, since the cost for these weapons is actually so low(100k an hour compared to 320k an hour for overloads) i'd rather still use one, even if it's just for 1%. Squisher, do tell me all the tasks you use steel titan and cannon for, because as far as i can tell, there ae two(tortoises don't cound because of 2 spawns). For CT tasks it's well worth using because you can't get crashed then.

Maul vs CLS vs CR
No, i'm talking about estimating what a weapons stats would be looking at the trends from the stats of existing chaotic, existing pvp and existing dungeoneering weapons. The estimations might not turn out to be correct but atleast you can get into the right ballpark. for example: Chaotic spear would be around: +137 stab, +130 str Chaotic warhammer would be around: +130 crush, +118 str 2h and battleaxe stats are a bit harder to propose because there are no pvp counterparts but... Chaotic 2h: +160 slash, +150 strength. Chaotic battleaxe: +120 slash,+128 strength and moreover, dragon defender(do remember that these are also proposed stats and have nothing to do with what the real stats will actually be) dragon defender: +30 stab, +29 slash, + 28 crush, +7 stregth.

Maul vs CLS vs CR
Nothing more to say than that you should propably report it as a bug. At least for slayer, it doesn't make a big differance because the 10 hours isn't true anyway.
-
If no one complains about it, please don't 'fix' it
They fixed food+brew eating in one game tick, only to find that it was a terrible update and reversed the update in a matter of hours.

Effigy Questions
High level slayer monster seem best to get them from, so far i've had 3 drop dark beasts, 2 from abyssals and 4 from ice strykewyrms, though you can still expect them to be quite rare, perhaps one per 3 tasts of any of these. You can have any number of them and bank them at any state, but they don't stack even if they are seemingly the same(for example 2 sated smith/mine ones don't stack).

Maul vs CLS vs CR
Well it is correct that it loses charge while being in combat, but monsters in ct will only autoattack you for ~12 minutes, which isn't much. Having multiple monsters attacking you at a time doesn't make the charge go down much slower since you are supposed to be in combat 100% of the time while training melee. Edit: As i have used more than 300% charge on my rapier already i can confirm it to be false, my rapier has never degraded more than 6% within a single slayer task(249 dark beasts being 6% degrade). I have used it at CT and lighhouse multiple times.

Dragon Defender confirmed.
Very uneducated post. Very. Even if it was 10 hours, what's wrong with that? For the way a rapier destroys(and yes, destroys is a very good word for this) a whip the price is very, very cheap, and if you are cheap yourself then you do have the option to play 10x as much for a medium cost in tokens. Realistically, if you can't pay 200k(or rather ~90k if you know what you are talking about) an hour for it, you don't deserve to be using one. Also i still don't see why everyone has such a problem with dungeoneering, the fact that you can't save progress is quite irrelevant if you already know how to dungeoneer, since you don't really need to log out every 9 minutes or so. Large 5 man dungeons may take an hour to complete, but noone forces you to do those, you can just do dungeons that fit your playing style he best.

Maul vs CLS vs CR
Interesting read and i think it's a much better approach than all of the others i have seen to this problem. I myself have a rapier and will be working on a maul soon enough, and to be honest, because most of what i do is slayer(for melee atleast) the rapier was the right choice for me. Also, if you could be bothered(and i know it's very experimental) would you be able to do similar calculations to proposed chaotic weapons to be released with dungB2? I know the stats would be hard to estimate but with knowledge of 3 chaotic weapons, 3 pvp weapons(which have similar stats to chaotic ones) and the primal/promethium counterparts it should be possible. The ones i'm most interested are 2h, warhammer, spear and battleaxe. thanks. I'm also interested. Has anyone tried CT fiends with a maul using an iron/steel titan and extremes? doesn't the issue of them degrading based on the number of things attacking you make them unappealing for the chaos tunnels? it might still be worth it on triple charms though Wait, what? where would you have hear that? I have used more than 300% rapier charge for slayer so far and never seen any differance in the degrading between using it in kurdal dungeon/chaos tunnels. Also, the 10 hours is completly bogus with 16-20 hours of pure combat being more accurate.

I would die a little inside if that was the requirement for one. Same. I'd die a little inside seeing every level 70 run around with one.

lost my cls
Well if it was you losing the ability to cast ancients upon death, would you risk it in places you know you could die....? I didn't think so. Also, it's a quest that gives you the ability to cast ancient spells, which is very much differant than a skill for which you have to do a certain amount of work to buy an item. I agree that it is minigame like, but, guess what? jagex has yet to define a minigame or a skill, so there is really nothing wrong with how it is now if they designed it to be like this.

mage slaying
Well if you are looking for mage xp then there are loads of other methods that would work better, like for example barraging skeletons or noncombat spells. I think if you break it down with magic slaying on one hand and melee slaying+ barraging skeletons on the other, the second one would propably win in cost and speed for magic, while being a bit less slayer xp. Not too sure on it, but some estimated calculations would say so(assuming CR for slayer).
