  1. But it does still prove that the extreme version is unquestionably better than the regular version. (Faster AND cheaper.) Which would be relevant if that fact was actually in question. However, if someone asks you if 92 is a bigger number than 45, do you really need to do the calculation to be sure? But in any case, it still doesn't solve the problem that by his calculations, using no potions at all would be the best option.
  2. Well, obviously efficiency and fun never go together... or common sense and intelligence, for those who think so.
  3. just do things where you don't need a familiar and have 1-3 food in your inv, it'll go fast when you slay/skill.
  4. Well i think one reason why Phoenix Odin is still waiting is that getting it now doesn't have any advantages- he is just gaining fame by not getting it right now, and if he can wait for toony to max out slayer and someone to max out dungeoneering, runecrafting would be the last skill to be maxed out, which would be nice.
  5. I wouldn't care how many times the guy maxes agility, he will never be better than lover romeo who got 200m in both 2nd hardest grind skills first before the new methods(lrc for mining and BA+new cources for agility).
  6. The problem is, in reality, potting every ~5-10 levels with extremes is EFFICIENT, meaning that if you were to wait longer, you'd actually be losing money. You'd be losing tons of money with normal potions anyway, but that's another story. It all comes down to the one dimensional world the author sees runescape as- he creates a test that has no relevance to reality, he then ignores the most important points about using potions(added efficiency) and comes up with a result he likes, but as i already said, in this test he devised, it'd actually be CHEAPEST to not use potions at all.
  7. Has anyone said they ''nerfed'' anything, except for your intelligence maybe. They updated the way a cannon attacks frost dragons as it was bugged before the update. No nerf, just a bug fix and an update. There isn't conclusive info on if the update has any noticeable effect on how many kills you can get, so before there is, no reason to lose your head and go shouting at fally square. Edit: just tested it out, with a setup of void deflector range, rune crossbow and broad bolts i was able to get 193 kills in 62 minutes(my usual test period), the most i've had from any test thus far, so i can safely say that the update either doesn't affect ranging/maging at frosts or gets you a few more kills an hour. Havn't tested melee yet, but the results would likely be about the same. DEFINITELY NOT NERFED.
  8. Noone with a rapier has to stay there and be kited by the guy with a maul, y'know. When it's a 1 vs. 1 fight, kiting isn't useful as the other person has the freedom to just run away, however, when it's a team against a single player it can be more useful. Kiting is an extremely useful strategy in the duel arena. Also, i think hand cannons have longer range than magic so... Anyone using a hand cannon will be ripped by melee lol. And anyone who runs will probably get barraged. Also you can't always run (castle wars, clan wars, most of safe pvp) Well, if you are kiting with a hand cannon you shouldn't be taking damage so i don't understand the point. It's not like having a 2 handed range weapons means you get half the defense, you can still freeze people and cannon them from a distance they can't reach. Also i don't think kiting is exceptionally important for newb pvp- what will they do? kill you? oh, it's safe... On pvp servers, however, if you kite, they pray= no fight. It's really only a strategy against those that are forced to be in combat with you- monsters, pvp teams and maybe stupid safe-pvp'ers who can't play it smart(as there is no reason to stay in combat with someone kiting you).
  9. The next Hollywood movie, perhaps?

  11. 2 methods, one completely ok with rules, the other somewhat against the spirit of some rules: Buy x amount of crashing junk lowest and sell it with the mask- you make 5% of the market value of the junk. Manipulate the price of some low demand/supply item until it rises high enough- you can make up to ~90% of the market value of the junk. edit: also a third method: Sell the item for x amount of rising items- you can make up to ~20% of the market value of the rising items. But in any case, a red mask doesn't have alot of street value and is 95% sure to crash in the next month.
  12. Dam, this could be big, hopefully for the better, but i doubt it somehow.
  13. That's the thing- right now, i could easily prove that using no potions at all is much cheaper, but as he hasn't taken into account how to get 92 herblore or how potting effects your combat efficiency, he can't argue that i'm wrong. But yea, if you didn't already know it(and you obviously should have), everyone who has the herblore level uses extremes for training- that's the only reason they got those high herblore levels. Another reason your calculations are meaningless is that they don't mimic real situations- the people that use potions usually pot every 5-8 minutes, not every time they go down to level-x. Golvellius- efficiency is vital for those who want to play this game successfully but don't have an enormous amount of free time lying around. Sure, it's possible to nolife your way to anything, but as efficiency proves, that if you do the things in the right way, you will be saving alot of time. I can't stress it enough, you can't buy time. So while you may have 10 hours to play every day, i'll achieve exactly the same things in 7.
  14. How ever much you want to believe it, i haven't heard of anyone who can use extremes not use them for training- realistically extremes are meant for training while overloads are usually used for bossing. Anyone bossing with extremes isn't even a top end player these days and will likely get crashed. This topic is as bad and obvious as the whip>blablabla thread where the guy finds out something everyone already knew, only that the information had expired while the guy made the observations(overloads are the best potions for near everything nowadays). Morionic, i wouldn't spend my time calculation something completely irrelevant. I understand if he did the calculations to show that getting extremes and using them is more efficient than using normal range potions, but right not, he just proved that if you have 92, you should use BETTER potions because they are BETTER, which is obvious.
  15. There are two different challenges in elite clues- scan and compass clues. Scan clues have a different inventory icon, so you will know right away. Compass clues have the same inv icon as any other clue, but when you open them, they will show a compass of which direction the casket is.
  16. Definitely not 400-500 crimsons an hour, rather around 200 crimsons, 220+ crimson equivalents an hour barraging, ~800 spells an hour. For gear, have the highest magic damage boost possible with a balance of magic attack bonus and prayer bonus for the other gear- highest magic attack bonus really isn't needed.
  17. Well if you want to prove anything then really, normal range potions can be used with level 1 herblore, but extremes need 92 herbore, thus extremes are much, much worse. Your test it totally out of context as it ignores the requirements. Also you are not showing their effectiveness in terms of 122 range being tons better than 112 range, thus allowing for more kills and more xp and money made.
  18. Anyone with the level to use any of the extremes(well, not magic because of how it works, but all the others) not using them is mad, no real discussion value here, as your calculations completely ignore the added effectiveness the extreme pots give. Realistically, if you've got the level and value herblore xp, overloads are always the best potions to use.
  19. Those worlds aren't really very helpful when what most elite players need servers full of players for lower respawn times- thus we need more specialty worlds where lower end players would all hang out and such, leaving monster spawns free for other players(cw, sw and pc worlds are a great example of those servers).
  20. You would have around 198k tokens when yo reach level 80 dungeoneering assuming all the xp is from actual dungeoneering and you haven't spent any tokens- it's completely normal to have no tokens at 79 dungeoneering you haven't got much xp from dungeoneering or have spent all the tokens...
  21. Everyone likes their pixels different, so I doubt this will ever end. The maul seems to be mentioned on every other page or so whenever someone makes the original realization that it's good for PvP. Otherwise this is just Rapier stats being refuted by people who bought the Longsword first without thinking. Nah, it won't end until the rapier fanboys realize that killing fire giants with an extra 19 strength for 200k/hr ain't as slick as it sounds. Here lets sum up this thread in a nutshell. Whip for slayer CLS for big effin monsters CMaul for PVP CRapier for fanboys who got lots of GP but never heard of a cannon You know that when you post false figures, people will not be able to take you serious. But in any case, rapier would save you enough money and get enough drops for you to be able to accumulate 10k tokens and 200k, so no doubt, rapier will always be better than whip in that way. The other way is just depending on how good a player you are and if you value your time at all. It can't be stressed enough- you can't buy time.
  22. What I don't understand is, WHY don't people use spirit shards as a means of holding their wealth? They have a fixed price, and can be sold to an NPC for this price. That way if you ever need any cash, just sell a few million spirit shards and you're set. I mean, this won't help the 2B limitation on person-to-person trading, but at least it will shut up the people who "don't have a way of keeping money over 2.1b" It's easier to put a max offer for 1.9b worth of unbuyable items or hold your money in rares. Also, not all people know about the spirit shards being sellable back and forth, but i guess they would still take considerable time to sell.
  23. When comparing two weapons people look for objective, conclusive results, thus why most of us say that the rapier is better, and truth be told, the fact that the CLS is better for you is irrelevant for this topic, none of us here actually detest your choice, CLS might very well be the right choice for you, but when your reasoning for CLS to be better than rapier is that it's better for you, you are stupid. This thread really shouldn't die as there isn't yet conclusive testing done to prove the usefulness of the weapons against one another- we only know the general lining for what is best for the boss monsters, but not real numbers.
  24. The people who haven't experienced the community from 2001-2005 probably wouldn't understand it, but it used to be really great. The mental age has gone down alot in the last 5 years.
  25. Therefore CLS > Rapier is subjective to you. No, it's not subjective. It's been proven that it's better. Proven where Most monsters have so little defence that the Strength bonus doesn't matter. If speed doesn't matter, why not use a Chaotic Maul The last 50 pages. Slightly better then Rapier MHing, which is what I need it for. Don't even bother trying to make me regret it. How is it not subjective when you ignore most of the game? CLS might be better for you, but saying it's a better weapon is just showing how stupid you are. This thread clearly proves that if you are maxed/have turmoil/overloads, rapier is a much better overall weapon.
