  1. when i became a member, the most perculiar thing a found was a eastern trader seeling a unique ammunition is a WESTERN world, hence my suspicions about jagex having done a little research on weapons... It would definitely boring, from both my and jagex point of view if all the weapons were either swords, longs, etc. Even Scimitar isnt a european weapon
  2. usually if you dont put on defence, you will get 2 extra xp to your mage per damage dealt. If you put it on defence, 1 of that extra xp will go to defence and the other will go to mage eg if you deal 10 damage on anything but defensive, then you get, on top of the spell xp, 20 more xp if you put on defensive, 10xp will go to your defence, the other 10 goes to your mage Your HP will always be 1.33xp per damage The above values are dependent on the monster you fight (it will be near zero for random event monsters), but 90% of the time its correct
  3. did you read the scroll from the plague city reward? you need to read that scroll if you want to teleport. Your character actually learns that teleport from that scroll.
  4. Ever wondered why Karil's Crossbow was so unique that it needed its own ammunition? Ever wondered why Ai-Hakuna, NPC in Port Phasmatys, who is from the east, has access to Bolt Racks? Ever wondered why Karil was mysterious, according to the Crumbled Tome? I may be able to shed some light on it, as I highly suspect that Karil's Crossbow is indeed a very unique Weapon. I will start by explaining the basis of Karil's Crossbow. His crossbow firstly has a magazine. There is indeed 1 crossbow that had a magazine, and it was from the East (namely China), and it's called Chu-Ko-Nu. Chu-Ko-Nu is (to the best of my knowledge) one of the world's first weapons to possess a Rapid fire mechanism. The crossbow does not look to dissimilar to the European version of the crossbow, though it does have 2 differences : A magazine and ABSENCE of a trigger. The reason for this is that a magazine will reduce the amount of time dedicated to reloading. European Crossbows, although stronger than Chu-Ko-Nu, suffers from slow reloading rate. The magazine is able to hold multiple bolts, and the top bolts will drop down onto the firing barrel when a bolt is fired (very similar to gun magazines, except that the ammo push up). This allows Chu-ko-nu to be ready to fire again at moment's notice. The lack of a trigger is a special property of chu-ko-nu that gave its rapid fire. All the archer have to do is pull back the bow string, the bolt will then drop onto the shaft, and let go of the string, and the bolt is fired. The rate of fire is dependent on the speed which you do the pull and release, and is very much faster than a bow or a crossbow would ever dream of. It does have a limitation however that it had shorter range and power compared to the European Crossbow, as the rapid fire puts on a lot of strain on the archer. Bolt racks will speed up the reloading times, as it acts like reloading a magazine on a gun. And since Ai Hakuna is from the East, it would not be difficult for him to obtain bolt racks Now, Karil's Crossbow has Chu-Ko-Nu as a basis, thats why it fires fast. However it also has a trigger mechanism, and I believe this is somewhat ingenious (I wonder why it was never made). If you put a trigger mechanism on the Chu-ko-nu, you can potentially increase its power as the user will not be pulling the bowstring very often, hence they can pull the string back further. Now what has a long range, a magazine and pretty fast barrel reload mechanism? A Sniper rifle. Karil's Crossbow maybe a primitive version of the Sniper rifle, as the trigger mechanism allows accurate and powerful shots to be fired, while the magazine keeps its firing up. This also may explain why, according to the tome, that one of the brothers was feared, since there was no such thing as a hidden sniper (it is very hard to snipe a lot of people with a bow, or a conventional crossbow on your own), and the accuracy and power of the shots of Karil's special crossbow, coupled with Karil's skills (we all know his power :P), makes him pretty nasty... There, some random facts :P
  5. unfortunately not. The side step is used as a safety spot to eat food, not cast over, hence why barrows are dangerous to the unprepared.
  6. safe spots dont work in the crypts, as there is none and you cant shoot over the coffins. So in order for you to hit them, all the melee brothers must be also meleeing you.
  7. nope, you have kill monsters assigned to you in order to get xp.
  8. not the video file itself to the best of my knowledge (there was an incident with IE tho that a picture can get you keylogged...), but if you download it as a archive file then there is a chance. Always keep your anti-virus up to date, because, like jagex said on the site, outdated anti-virus is useless. In fact all computer virus nowadays have a life span of about 48 hours before they are considered outdated.
  9. no. all combat skills, except under some circumstances, will give 1.33 xp per point of damage dealt. Ranged at high levels level faster than melee due to their superior speed. At low levels melee wins due to higher damage
  10. With melee armor and decent defence (yours is pretty close to mine), they can hardly ever hit you, so gunthan cant actually heal (because they have to deal damage). They will heal through prayer, but not armor. Indeed gunthan and torag are ideal to have as a tunnel brother due to safespots, but they are very manageable without. Prayer is not needed against either of them (for the record, i used rune plate, legs and kite against gunthan and torag, they cant really hit me enough for me to worry about them. ahrim dealt the most damage over the career) BUT Dharock and Verac are completely different. Because Dharok hits for a motherload of damage and Verac can ignore your armor. Pray on the first 3, that last 3 are completely optional.
  11. Recharge on prayer, go to dharok, own him with mage will MELEE prayer ON (you must kill him with full prayer, and kill him while you have it, he can hit up to 58, i tasted a 50 once and nearly bit his shoe dust) Then mage Karil with your leftover prayer, and then verac (you should have some left over if you used some prayer boosting equip) Then comes the easy bits Gunthan, mage him with MAGE while wearing MELEE armor. his mage defence is so bad that you can still own him with -30 magic attack bonus (if can call it a bonus :P) Same thing with torag, just be careful of your health Then equip bow and d hide, and kill ahrim unprayered. be careful at your level though as he can be a bit nasty when it comes to hitting. ALWAYS leave a tunnel brother last. If ANY of the first 3 brothers are a tunnel brother, MAKE SURE you kill the other 2 with prayer, and fight the last one WITH prayer. (bring 1 to 2 prayer pots for this occasion) I wear prayer boost equip on the first 3, melee on the second 2 and ranged on the last
  12. if you really are strapped for cash, earth strike would be good enough You have to find yourself to draw a line between cost and speed. I would find that Fire strike is sufficiently faster to allow me to invest in the airs, however i cannot see myself investing in death runes over chaos when on members for example they have a 1 hit difference.
  13. definitely with your ranged level. Attack and strength only affects melee attacks, ranged only ranged and mage Attack AND defence
  14. from what i can see, you do seem to pray all the way through all the brothers, which is not necessary. If you are prepared enough (stat and equip wise), Gunthan, Torag and Ahrim dont need any pots, just food if you get hit occassionally. 50 kills is too many, i only go for 20. I take 20-30 minutes per run.
  15. this may not be the best way, but my way of dealing with tunnel version of dharok Wear full rune and staff, he cant hit that badly on full health and you on full rune. Once you see him BEFORE you reach the chest, drink 2 sips of prayer pot, prayer on, reequip to monk robes, own him. If in the chest, kill everything else that moves in the room, and change your outfit to monks. then WAIT until a head show ups, then IMMEDIATEly drink 2 pots, put prayer on and open chest.
  16. ok.... my 32 gp has to be THE worst record so far? :P
  17. For cost effectiveness sake, use Fire Bolt with Chaos Gaunts. I found I cast as many chaos runes as death runes per run, except i use chaos runes in one and death runes in another. I get so many chaos runes that even after about 50-60 runs, i have like 3k chaos left (started less than 1k), Tried blood, way too expensive. Chaos also saves on air runes. You can try using Lava staff so you dont have to carry earth runes to teleport to Lumbridge for prayer restore, allowing you one extra space Your attack Plan should ALWAYS be: Dharok Karil Verac Torag/Gunthan Gunthan/Torag Ahrim Range Ahrim, mage the first 3 with prayer and prayer boost equip, mage the next 2 using full rune. You will probably still own them in full rune. make sure you bring prayer pots and good food AT ALL TIMES unless you know what you are doing.
  18. 1. The ring of forging idea is great up to the Super Heating part. Nats costs more than the iron bar... 2. Iron bars are 200ea at least unfortunately, and IIRC iron knives are 40ea.... so you get the money either way, but the bars are faster and yield more money. 3. You can re-imbue the gauntlets, just bring the gauntlets to the family crest brother you want to imbue, along with 25k. Done.
  19. If one runs out of food though, you can just use a lyre to tele to relekka and walk back to etceria that way. I recommend it for lower levels. Oh, and Protect from melee should work on the snake... Though the Snake didnt drop 20k for me, it dropped 32 gp -.- The queen gives you the 20k though
  20. try making it less than 0kg. and make sure you are walking near the left hand side
  21. but even if you can do bolts, i dont recommend it unless you have the money to spare. I would stick to strikes. It doesnt take too much longer anyway
  22. its stronger in some and weaker in others, i cant remember which ones though. Overall they are similar
  23. ty, i am considering using ancient magicks for barrowing... maybe a lot expensive, but i hate walking from the ecto to canafis...
  24. Does the dueling arena nurse heal your Prayer?
