  1. People are still bound to fault the creator. Alfred Nobel never intended dynamite to be used in warfare, yet it happened, and people wrote obituaries of him when they thought he died condeming him for the invention of dynamite. That is simply trying to find a scapegoat for the faults associated with the product. Sure, the designer might be blame-able for giving us the option, but ultimately we are the one that chooses to use it the way it is. We are probably equally as guilty for misusing/using it as the inventor is creating it, but it is often much easier to just blame it on the creator rather than every individual user/abusers.
  2. It meant that you can shoot diagonally with the salamanders, compared to melee weapons, which cannot. THe damage on the Salamander is based on your level, so boosting your magic do indeed have an impact on it. However, I dont know if magic damage % (from equip as well as from the effects of boosted magic) would.
  3. Obtain every drop possible from every monster in Runescape, up to and including Corporal Beast (with all 4 sigils). Rare table drop can be from any monster, but must have both the lowest possible and the highest possible values for any given drop (IE for yew logs, must have both a 100 log drop and a 20000 log drop). Obtained 2.1B slayer tasks complete in a row Complete the entire list of achievement twice, once on each gender. That oughtta keep the player busy
  4. Correct, but foreign policy only works with proper leverage, which Nukes provide (for the best example, see how much time have passed between WWI and WWII, and how much time have passed since then. Also, UN's predecessor.). The only reason why Cold War haven't been blown out into a full scale war between Soviets and US was because the presence of Nukes on both sides. Also, I dont think very many Martyrs will invoke MAD as one of their goals, unless they either is pushed into a situation where MAD won't affect their own outcome, or if they care more about the destruction of their intended target more than the survival of their own. A martyr isn't a martyr if no one is left afterwards to benefit from his death.
  5. Without nukes there will be no threat to MAD (Mutally assured destruction), without MAD there would have been more wars (Cold war, without having Nukes, would have outright blown into a WWIII or even IV). It isn't about how likely the MAD would occur, we can all concur that the chances of it happening is bloody slim (otherwise we would not be here having this conversation), but the mere threat of it is enough to deter full all-out war against each other. Without it, the world we know it may actually be in ruins.
  6. With the exception of Skyrim... It has been nearly a year since its release, and it STILL costs $59.99 on steam (barring special discounts, such as Summer sale)
  7. I am not arguing that Critical bonus % can be different for different weapons, I just have a hard time accepting that they did it for Blisterwood weapons, considering that the critical bonus % weapons are so different (20ish % VS nearly double), I just lean very much on the flat damage increase theory rather than critical strikes. It just sounds too unnecessarily complicated for something that doesn't quite need to be.
  8. Hearthfire for PC costs only $5 since release But I agree, the price of Skyrim and its addons sounds like it's Bethy's current Cash Cow King
  9. To quote one of the signatures on this Forum: "They are not exercising their freedom of speech, they are exercising their freedom from being punched in the mouth". ... true story
  10. Possibly, however I was speaking 'Complicated' in relative terms. The only items I am aware of that does Critical strikes, officially, is CSB, MBB and Keris (There are others I may have missed), but all of the mentioned 3 did specifically mention their mechanism, no such explanation exists (as far as I am aware) for Blisterwood weapons. The reasons why I don't believe in the Critical Strike theory: 1. They don't have a reason to have two kinds of boost to a weapon, especially considering that the conditions are similar and extra coding is required for each, no matter how easy the code actually is. 2. If they did do critical strikes, it does not explain the drastic % difference between critical strikes between Blisterwood stakes and Polearms, and I highly doubt that jagex really did tune both weapons specifically. The observed % difference between the two weapons can be (easily) the result of a flat damage increase But I digress, I strongly believe that the actual reason for having hits higher than your 'max hit' splat is due to the way game calculates the max hits, IE taking some bonuses into account, while not others. Thus it would be impossible to get the true max hit splat from Blisterwood weapons, because the calculation does not take blisterwood bonuses against vyres into account, not as result of the 'Critical hits'.
  11. My previous (and as far as I am aware, my only) account compromise, it was probably as weird as it could be. My cash pile were still there, in fact it grew LARGER, but some of the more 'valuable' items at the time (mostly collection items, such as approximately 8k Monkfish, about 6 Dragon Platelegs/Plateskirts, various other bits and pieces) were missing, I had assumed he GE'ed them for me. IE, the hacker GE'ed some items in my bank, but left my cash pile in tact. However, Trade limit was still in place back then, so I assume it was because of that. But it was a very weird hack situation.
  12. Doesn't quite explain why there is a minimum damage associated with Blisterwood weapon that goes up with the number of Vyres burned. Combination of Critical Hits and Minimum damage sounds far too complicated, and does not explain why Stakes and Polearm have completely different damage boosts compared to its original. IE stakes damage on Vyres is MUCH higher than a dart with similar strength on normal targets (200's VS 400's), while polearm's damage is higher, but nowhere near as significantly (500 VS 700s or so, figures may not be accurate as I am pulling out of this from memory), comparing by ratio.' A simple flat damage modifier seem a far simpler implementation on both server's end and coding. But this is my 2c, may not actually worth 1% of the said 2c :P.
  13. I believe the problem comes from the fact that when the game calculates whether some hit splat is a max damage or not, it doesn't actually take the bonus damage from burning vyres into account (I tried with Stakes, my max hit splats coincides rather well to my max hits if I didn't take the bonus damage into account), thus you can see some lower hit being your max hit (conincidentally) but any higher hits won't, because it isn't equal to the game's calculated 'max hit'
  14. If you are planning to kill Vyres, I strongly recommend doing Branches of Darkmeyer as well (you don't need to kill the PITA at the end) to access the Blisterwood weapons. Ivandis Flail is a very slow weapon to kill Vyres with, Blisterwood makes them faster than much of the normal monsters.
  15. 1. This is what you claim, but you have absolutely no idea whether the person is TRULY botting or not. Looks are not everything, sure, one character might act bot like, and another might act legit like, when it in reality may be the other way round. 2. The other problem is that you are able to spot a bot after a few seconds glancing at the screen. Jagex do not have thousands of people 'glancing' at the screen continuously with your 'skill' to spot the bots, so they would have to do it from the back end (IE coding), which is completely different thing to 'glancing' a behaviour of the character. One do not automatically translate into the other.
  16. Incompetent courts and judgeswho insists on finding and convicting a guilty party when there is none to begin with. (See the latest conviction regarding the 2009 L'Aquila Earthquake. Basically scientists got Involuntary manslaughter for 'Falsely Reassuring' that it would not occur, when they also predicted, earlier that year, an earthquake would occur in that region, but never did, and eventually got barred from issuing public warnings).
  17. I don't think RS is getting picked on specifically, but rather the entire MMO is perceived rather 'poorly' from gamer's perspective, and RS is just an unfortunate scapegoat representative of the whole genre, probably not without reason. This is what I believe to be the public opinion on MMO's (again, I stress this is entirely my perception). We all know and love the concept of having a 'life' outside of cyberspace, many people take it very 'seriously', as in they want to be perceived as having a 'life' rather than having 'no-life' by staring at a computer/TV screen the whole day. While the exact definition (if it is actually definable) of the word 'life' and take it as it is, then you are consciously taking into account that you don't want to play 10+ hours a day (or can't), but still want to play a decent game without too much time invested (single player) or just simply kick some asses (Multiplayer), that leaves with pretty much every other game, except MMO's, due to MMO's massive time requirements (the exact amount varies, WoW and RS are two opposing ends of the spectrum here). Hence, MMO's are generally perceived as games that people who 'have no life/social skills/loners/other derogatory terms' play. 1 Down for MMO Second, most MMO's involve getting high quality gear AND improving your play skill overtime, rather than just simply playskill for most other games, bar RPG, but even then the gear component of those isn't anywhere near as prominent as MMO's. But, people might see the game as 'Gear = win' games, when most of the time it isn't just about gear. But gear, unlike skill, is highly visible (IE as long as it looks 'OMFG!' gear, it is probably good gear), and notoriety of people selling their found/made gear online for cash have probably raised a perception that either they spent an insane amount of time getting those items, or paid a load of RL money for them, directly or indirectly. Neither of which were perceived positively. Why is this not an issue for other games? Because many games, getting gear is either trivial or just outright impossible (FPS being a prominent one), so only skill is left, not so for MMO's. 2 Down for MMO. Lastly, MMO's generally can only be played on PC. PC gamer is, from my own experience, generally more shunned upon than console players (from outside of gamer society that is, inside it isn't such a big difference), why? Probably because PCs are associated with people like hackers, programmers, fat no-life gamers (the latter courtesy of the media) and other negative/derogatory things, when the reality is very different. Also, like some people have said: Consoles can be played from a sofa, which can fit several people, PC cannot (the anti-social argument). My 2cents.
  18. Happy birthday Bogsy :D

  19. No, only stats requirement. If you can use Ganodermics (80 magic and I think 80 defence too), you can use Polypore and Ward of Subjugation
  20. You can try getting Ward of Subjugation for the Magic absorb, it isn't as much as Eagle-eye kiteshield (which gives 14%), it doubles as a decent mage off hand (+16 magic attack, +1 prayer, +1 magic damage and 6% magic Damage soak). The price of the ward should be just inside your budget.
  21. Arcane Stream, yes, Vecna Skull, yes, Ahrim/Dagon Hai robes, GOD NO You dont need anything higher than 20 magic attack bonus for barrows, and praying against Guthan in non-melee defense armor will simply drag the fight out (he heals through prayer, unless that has changed since the last time I was there). Also, tunnels have plenty of things that you won't be pray on, wearing melee armor negates a lot of the damage. The extra accuracy is redundant when you take into account the possibility of Guthan being dragged on, or the extra damage you take while transversing the tunnels. Melee armor ensures a greater breathing space while having negligibly small penalty.
  22. Once you try a mole, imagine that KBD is significantly more difficult. A properly geared and invent'ed character could kill lots (possibly dozens) of KBD on one trip, the same person, using the same inventory, might only last a handful of KQ's, mainly due to her nearly unavoidable ranged attack, which frequently hits around 200-low 300's, and when she (or the RNG) isn't in the mood, you could guzzle down a lot of brews/food.
  23. Give me RS version of Daedric armor anytime, and I will probably never obtain a cosmetic set at the same speed as that. Assuming they didn't blunder that is. Back on topic, i find that the dwarven warsuit outfit has too much wood, and not enough metal or shine, as well as a rather ugly mask that ruined it. As regards to its teleport animation, it looks more like Warmonger's teleport in Iron man 1 than Iron man's (sky high teleport resemble it better)
