music quotes ftw...
1. See signature 2. It's in the air you breathe and it's also in the water It's something you can't see, you've been warned of by your mothers You've had enough deceit, You know enough to see Join the others When you could hardly breathe, you were wondering why you bothered And they gave us seven days to renounce our wicked ways Too late to make amends becase we both know how this ends So do the right thing or do nothing (What will you do when they come for you?) Or just do what is easier (What will you do when they come for you?) [hide=Streelight Manifesto - One foot on the gas, one foot in the grave]THat is what I read what I swear they said to me Nine times out of ten they lied to me And after all they had the gall to say "Son, no one will save you now" We want it, they got it They claim we'll die without it But something tells me they are wrong So what will you do when they call your name and you're not ready to go? Everyone will stare at you and tell you what you know That you're in too deep and you can't quite keep your secrets, one and all We might just make it after all, on our own We might just make it after all But we had one foot on the gas and one foot in the grave Everyone was laughing when we said we had it made Started with six or seven, moved on to eight or nine (What will you do when they come for you?) Nobody seemed to notice, nobody seemed to mine (What will you do when they come for you?) Little miss demissed can't miss like a detuned radio I cannot believe you when you tell me what you know And nothing will be broken if your house is made of stone But you will know as I do it will never be a home[/hide] 3. Daft Punk - Something About Us It might not be the right time I might not be the right one But there's something about us I want to say Cause there's something between us anyway I might not be the right one It might not be the right time But there's something about us I've got to do Some kind of secret I will share with you I need you more than anything in my life I want you more than anything in my life I'll miss you more than anyone in my life I love you more than anyone in my life So many lyrics, such little time. Might actually remember the good ones too.

My Mom Likes a Korn Song
"Music is an art form consisting of sound and silence. Elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, structure, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture." That is why Range speaks the truth.

Twilight.
Note to self: Pick up the remaining Pendragon, WoT, Bartimaeus Trilogy, and maybe even the new Fowl book. The only things I haven't read that are up there are LOTR, and Fire and Ice. I read the Hobbit when I was 8, tried to read the trilogy, but got too bored within the first couple of pages. Maybe I'll try to read the trilogy again, winter holidays are coming up... Also, I am glad to hear of someone else who even heard of Bartimaeus, and that Pendragon is a good series ,I've always wondered whether it was childish to read them :?. Anyways I read the first Bartimaeus book, and loved the whole system of summoning and all the different beings that one could control. Now, for Twilight, I worked up the courage to actually read it, and I loved it. Well, love might be the wrong word, unless you say that a drug addict loves his drugs. However, like any drug, it kills you, and as a book, it is horrible. To read it very casually and not have to think about it, go ahead. Yet if you have to consider the book a serious piece of work, have fun trying to convince yourself that. I remember I found a review about it, and I thought it picked apart the book pretty well. [hide=Here it is actually]http://www.anti-shurtugal.com/wordpress/?p=53 'Ah, hyperbole. Where would Twilight be without you? Just take a look at some of these quotes: Stephenie Meyer, a Mormon housewife turned novelist, is the new queen of fantasy. [1] Meyer has, like one of her vampires, turned into something rare and more than merely human: a literary phenomenon. [1] Im not usually a vampire book reader, but I havent read a book in a long time that had as much sexual tension and creepy terror throughout as Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. [2] Wow, Twilight must be awesome! The media never inflates steaming piles of [cabbage] into idols, right? All it does is report the truth, and the truth is that Twilight is the bestest, most famous book ever! If you are nodding your head in agreement, please have your sarcasm meter checked. It is broken.'[/hide] On the movie, I refuse to watch it, just as I refused to watch Eragon. Only certain books make good movies. Those certain books are often very good books (See the Bourne series; LOTR). Mediocre (That is being nice is some cases) do not make mediocre movies. They make horrible ones. EDIT: Lenin, i didnt c wat u did thar

Got a broken xbox game? With NXE you dont need to replace it
I never thought of that possibility, now I can play Gears again, even though Gears 2 is out : Oh, if you want an explanation of why Halo 3 has increased load times, the game is optimized so that maps are saved on the game partition when you are playing. If you are reading off the disc, your load times are based on the slowest write/read speed of either the hard drive or disc reader. When you are reading off the hard drive, the load time is the read and write time of the hard drive combined. The more detailed answer from Bungie [hide=]The New Xbox Experience (NXE) launches today and with it comes a new feature that allows games to be installed to your hard drive. Unfortunately Halo 3 will load slower in this scenario and could negatively impact your online experience. Read on for details. Halo 3 & NXE The New Xbox Experience was released today and one of the new features allows you to install your games to the HDD. While you still have to keep the original disc in the tray, installing to the HDD can make some games perform a little better while also putting a little less wear-and-tear on your DVD drive. However, this isnt to say that ALL games will see optimizations from being installed. In fact, in the case of Halo 3, the game will actually see increased loading times. Several websites have reported the results of tests to gauge how some games perform after being installed to the HDD for Halo 3 and their tests indicate that in some cases, the load times are significantly longer. Our own internal investigations have yielded similar results. To help explain why this is the case I tapped our uber engineer and Chief Caching Officer, Mat Noguchi, to answer a few questions. What is the overall performance difference a player can expect to see when running Halo 3 straight from the disc versus installing it to their HDD? Some websites have reported that the game runs worse after the install. The Xbox 360 HDD has a section for games to use called the utility partition. Games can use this section for whatever they want to; Halo 3 uses the utility partition to cache maps as they will load faster off the HDD than off the DVD. As a side note, the utility partition can be deleted when other games are played. This is why maps can take longer to load when you play another game in between various Halo 3 sessions. (As was the case with Halo 1 and Halo 2.) So when Halo 3 runs, if a HDD is present, we copy maps from the DVD to the utility partition (on the HDD). Think of it as an on demand install of Halo 3 to some scratch space on the HDD. Halo 3 doesnt actually know where its running from, so it always assumes its running from a DVD. This is an unfortunate consequence of new features (namely, install to HDD) being added to the Xbox 360 after Halo 3 shipped. And as a result, it means that even if Halo 3 is already installed to the HDD, it will still copy maps to the utility partition. So then the real question is why is copying from HDD to HDD slower than copying from DVD to HDD? In the first case, you are reading from one I/O device (HDD) and writing to the same I/O device (HDD). In the second case, you are reading from one I/O device (DVD) and writing to a different I/O device (HDD). In the first case, because we are reading and writing to the same device, the total copy time is the amount of time it takes to read the map plus the time it takes to write the map. Ultimately this is because for the HDD, you read and write through the same mechanism, i.e., the hard drive read/write head, and those reads and writes cannot occur simultaneously through a single mechanism. (If they could, it would be awesome, and I wouldnt have to document any of this. Unfortunately, its not easy to do for other reasons.) For the second case, because we are reading and writing from different devices, the total copy time is the larger of the total time to read the map and the total time to write the map. This is because we can read from one device (DVD) at the same time we are writing to another device (HDD). There is some overhead because you cant start writing data until you read it, but it is dwarfed by the time to copy a map. (About 128k vs. 500 MB or a ratio of 4000:1.) There are other factors that contribute to load times, such as preloading data from the map you are about to start so that you dont have to sit through a non-interactive loading screen; the only difference in load times occurs when we copy a map that has not been cached to the utility partition or has been evicted from the utility partition because some other maps were run. Once a map has been cached, the time to load it will be identical to running Halo 3 off the DVD with a HDD. Why is this the case? Many other games have reportedly seen improved load times and performance after being installed to the HDD. The technical reasons were outlined above, but for a higher level answer, we shipped Halo 3 before Microsoft finalized this particular feature. As a result, we were not able to take advantage of it (or any other potential optimizations we discovered after shipping Halo 3). Perhaps we also coded too close to the metal. Is it possible for Bungie to update Halo 3 to better utilize the HDD install features of NXE? While anything is possible, it would be a significant undertaking to try and retroactively patch/update Halo 3 to be optimized to take advantage of the HDD install features of NXE. The risks of doing that and the resources required has to be carefully considered against what could really be a rather insignificant change to the player experience. For now our team is focused on making great games for the future like Halo 3 : Recon and other unannounced projects but we will continue to monitor this situation. So in conclusion, please be aware that installing Halo 3 to your HDD will actually result in longer load times and thus a less optimal experience than if you run the game from the disc drive. This happens due to the way Halo 3 already uses a HDD to cache data and once you do an install, you are copying between two different areas of the same drive as you are loading a map. If you just plan to play campaign or offline content, you may feel that the tradeoff is worth it in order to have a slightly quieter Xbox 360 and reduced impact to your disc drive. However, if you play Halo 3 online, please be aware that increased map loading times can have a negative impact to everyones experience. In some cases, it could take considerably longer to load multiplayer maps, meaning that everyone you are matched with is also stuck waiting for your maps to load. If people start to lose patience, you then have scenarios of players leaving parties and aborting matching because they dont want to wait. This adds to the problem, creating a cycle where more and more people have a harder time getting into the games they want to play. To avoid this negative situation, we are advising that Halo 3 players do not install the game to their HDD.[/hide]

Wait, increased load times? That's worse than taking up the rest of my HD space.

Weekly Poll: Tip.It Times? (Special Discussion)
It is not that the articles are poorly written - I'd say the majority are written quite well - it is that good topics are now few and far between. There just isn't much going on with Runescape that would [bleep]e interest in readers. I'm sure that eventually a new topic will come up, probably caused by an update by Jagex, but really, worthy news is just lacking right now. I mean, look at the track record of the Tip.It Times - 156 articles written in over 3 years, almost an article every week since The Times began. I think it was inevitable, at the pace the boys and girls behind the production of The Times were going, that the topic well would run dry for a [hopefully] short period of time. I think what needs to be done is appreciation given to anyone who helped contribute, because quite honestly, being able to give us a quality article a week for 3 years is quite amazing work and dedication. So, thank you, to anyone who was ever involved with The Tip.It Times. They have been a joy to read, and I hope I will be able to say the same in the future. Now, what has happened to The Editor? The last article written by The Editor was on May 4th, about FunOrb. If anything, I'd like some more clues as to the identity of said Editor, unless I've been away from General Discussion long enough to miss something. Oh, and I'm proud to say that I have read every Tip.It Times article released.

Doesn't selling the disc for which you have a burned copy, but still playing the burned copy, count as illegal, because you no longer own the retail copy of the game?

What kind of passwords do you guys have?
22,875 years/83.5 days to guess my favourite password, the one I use for most things I deem "high security", or about as high security as something will get for me. Only three things I deem "high security": MSN Bank PIN School network access.

I'd like to know what merit you have that allows you to say such a thing, because I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft knows of this problem, and so has built in a detection system through Xbox Live. I still say that the best thing to do is to get the person selling to allow you a test run, or come to some agreement that if this Xbox gets bricked/locked by Microsoft that you either get your money back, or he supplies you with another Xbox. And Jondayla, you sound like some form of tech support in the way you are talking about the system. I mean no disrespect, other than the fact that you have not supplied any sources for such a definite answer.

Problem when buying DS lite :s
If you want to play GBA games, just keep your GBA, and go with the DSi, simply because you might be able to use an SD card for Homebrew/pirated games. Or wait and see if that's even possible.

Barihawk's Left 4 Dead guide
This game sounds pretty cool, would it be coming out for the 360? I heard that there's a demo on the 360, so I assume its also being released on the 360. Just something I kind of want to point out: The only thing worse than a zombie is a flaming zombie. Setting a tank on fire doesn't sound like one of the best ideas, unless you really know what you're doing and can easily keep your distance. I really think I'm going to like this game.

I wouldn't risk buying it, unless he can prove to you that Live really does work. Even then, you could still easily get caught.

Existence
I posted something along these lines a while ago, I think called "Do We Really Exist?" It's dead, so don't worry about me trying to point you out. The general opinion was "Stop thinking so hard". I'm serious. I've taken that advice and really do appreciate it. I've realized that it will be impossible for us to understand how we came to exist, whether we actually do exist, and why we exist. Makes me happy, because if we do ever find that out, what point is there in life. Ignorance is bliss, especially in this case.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Yeah, just adding to the pool of "End it" ' s. End it. Or at least tell us something about yourself (i.e. whether you are shy, you general social status, etc.). Age may not define maturity, but it is still a factor. On top of that, just like being cool, if you have to tell someone you are mature, you aren't. You're a 15 year-old girl, at least date someone somewhat close to you age. Oh, and I've found that long-distance relationships may work sometimes, but cross-world relationships are stretching it. Mainly because instant-messaging and e-mail are one of the worst forms of communications. I might end up posting here sometime, but at the moment I can see why I have no active relationship, and probably no chance. Football, hockey, and school are taking up almost every inch of my social time. School does not count as social time because I have the same set of classmates for these first two years of high school, the downfall of specialized programs. Ah well, our team just won the Regional championship and is headed off for the City's 8-) Just because it has happened to me (More than once) in the past... I like a girl. I find out a friend likes the same girl. Girl is single, and according to best friend, does not "like" anyone. What is the best course of action?

[cabbage], I would have to sell my xbox with it's Composite AV cable wouldn't I? And I think that Arcade just comes with standard AV cables. Awwww, looks like I might have to sell my 360 w/o the cable=possibly less money for it. Oh well, I get what, another wireless controller + 5 Arcade games? How many M$ points are each arcade game worth any way? I think it's something like 400.

Homer's currently on an extremely slow internet connection. His house is getting fumigated, so he's at his aunts or grandparents. According to him, it took 20 minutes to load the SGP forums front page. I know this because I talked to him on MSN, which apparently works fine. I can't play because I'm a lazy [wagon] who doesn't send in his Xbox 3 weeks after ordering the repair, when the free shipping label link expires after 10 days. Time to cancel the order and create a new one. Or just sell My old one and buy an arcade console. Probably end up working out better, I've been wanting to get a wired controller.

PSA: You CAN turn off the mic settings on Xbox Live
If you have a guest, it will always go through the speakers. There's also setting in Halo that I think may override the Guide settings, for proximity voice.

Study squashes myth of gamer as antisocial
The only reason video games are becoming more common is online play. I know I would be rarely playing without it. Gaming is common for the average person under 30 nowadays. I don't really think that the truly hardcore players have changed though. These aren't the players that see games as a way to have fun, they see it as their life style. This study is useless, at best it lets casual gamers not feel guilty about playing video games, if they would have such thoughts. Seems like the report is just trying to convince non-gamers that gaming is cool. [Casual] Gamers making more money? I think they have the dependent and independent variables backwards there. It's not that people make more money because they are gamers, it's that they become gamers because they have the money that lets them pay for the system, games, online service, accessories, etc. How does this matter? Oooh, a whole 10%. Big deal. Good to see we're being treated as walking wallets.

WoW Gamer Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself...
In the end though, 9/10 times they are the ones who end up with the hotter group of girls. Social interaction IRL > MSN. Kranked, I agree with you on that one. Pyro, you have some serious hate going on there. Also a lot of stereotyping. I take resentment to that because I might just fall under the category of "jock" if you only know about parts of my life. I'm one of four captains on my football team. I'm one of the best defencemen on my hockey team. I barely have any time for homework/social sometimes because hockey and football might end up on the same day. Yet I'm no jock. I come here when I have free time. Sports and school are my social. This is my social. That is their social, and you have yours. Get over it.

I hate you all. And myself. My Xbox got the RRoD about two weeks ago, but I CBA to send it in, I don't know why though. Anyways, right about now I badly want to be playing Fable 2. God dammit.
