  1. Quite frankly, I would play games on a computer rather than a console if it didn't feel so anti-social to me. It's pretty damn hard to have friends over and play together on the same computer. That's where I greatly prefer consoles. I like the feeling of a controller versus a mouse and keyboard, I don't need to worry about compatibility, I just play. I agree that if you're into it, computer gaming greatly outranks console as far as capabilities comes in. I prefer the 360. Better games, I'm much more used to the controller, and almost everyone of my friends has one, so I can play with them. PS3 is good if you're nitty-gritty about system specs and such, Wii if you're a very casual gamer.
  2. It took me a while to have the bartending job to show up, not sure if it is a random appearance or whether you need to complete the story to a certain point. Either way it is great money if you don't feel like exploiting anything. Really, I dislike how they kept the trophy exploit in, the least they could have done was slap on an alignment/purity modifier. Proud to say that I have not changed my systems clock settings.
  3. Damn, I wish Gears had turned out to be like that. Inject some colour into the grey and browns, other than red blood. I know it is supposed to reflect wartime, but there's still going to be beauty like that.
  4. To add to that, a game can be beautiful if you look at each component (Storyline, Music, visuals, etc.) individually, but just turn out to be a piece of crap if those components don't work together. It isn't the components of a game that make it wonderful, it is the balance of those components coming together that can make a game wonderful.
  5. Has anyone even bothered to look into the example of a Christian Metal band he said he'd found, Flyleaf? Also, I think he's more concerned about the Christian part of the genre, if he's looking for a Christian band, he's not going to get as worked up about the metal part as most of you have. Really though, limpbizkit probably had the best idea, use Google and Wikipedia first.
  6. I'm not going to even claim to have any where near the talent or experience Intriguing has, but I do know how to play it (How well is a different question...). While stickers are good way to learn, it depends on yourself. I never learned with stickers on the fretboard, but I know others who have. I quite frankly don't like it just because for the short time I had stickers, I just got lazy and relied on them. The stickers do tend to slide around a bit, so I ended playing out of tune until I removed the stickers. Intriguing, how important is posture? I honestly have rarely found a difference when I change my posture to something a teacher claims to be 'correct'. I have 5 years experience, but that's from actual school classes, so I consider it closer to 3.
  7. Sounds like what happened to my friend. Turned out to be his harddrive was somehow causing the problem. Have you tried playing discs without the harddrive in?
  8. Having not played Faalout 3, I'm going to reccomend Fable 2. I definitely think you can get a ton of gameplay out of it if you're like me, and almost have ADHD when it comes to completing the mainstoryline. First of all, every area I go to, I do a full sweep for every kind of collectible: keys, chests, gargoyle heads to destroy, and once i had the money, houses to buy. Then every subquest until I figured I should get on with the main storyline. What is taking me about 10 minutes in my re-playthrough took me about an hour before.
  9. I suspect I already have a post in here
  10. Learn what communism is. From my understanding, it is essentially anarchism combined with socialism. No government, but instead of a free-for-all look out for Number 1 mindset, it is the exact opposite mindset, work towards the common good. The only reason it doesn't work is because of greed and people being lazy. Socialism is giving the government power to balance the classes, as Obama plans to do. Universal Free Health Care, for instance, is a socialist idea. Every pays higher taxes, but everyone receives free healthcare. I think it is safe to say that any public service you do not pay for individually stems from a socialist idea. Oh, and explain to me how 60% is so big of a deal for the extremely wealthy. I'm talking about the people on the degree of Bill Gates, the ones whose money is either being put towards gaining more money, or sitting in banks. People like Bill Gates are estimated to be worth something like $30-60 billion. Explain to me how anyone needs more than $1 billion to live extremely comfortable for the rest of their life. Assuming you reach that wealth by the age of 40-50, you have about 50 years to spend that money. $20 million each year is a budget I wouldn't be surprised to find that some cities work with. Now to Obama. I think it has been said before on this forum, America would not accept another Republican after Bush (I agree with Barihawk that George Bush was not a horrible, horrible president, he wasn't exactly given the best of circumstances). That is why I find Obama particularly interesting. He will be compared to Bush greatly, meaning that, to most of America who have forgotten everything that came before Bush, Obama is going to do great no matter what. Since I haven't actually investigated much into Obama as a person, nor can I judge a good president, I do still think that Obama will be an average president - considered great by anyone comparing him to the results of Bush's administration. I like Obama's policies, mainly because I am more of a socialist than anything else. I also think that he is rolling with popular opinion a bit too much. Stop the war, free health care, whatever society deems bad, it almost seems that he does too. Or that could just be his campaign. Either way I like his socialist side.
  11. Can someone explain why it is two counts of first-degree murder? I know it really is a horrible crime, but I can't see any reason two counts would come up, only one murder was committed. Also, it says that her original statement was she "dropped" the baby. She later changed her statement, since it was proved she must have dropped the baby at least on story, or thrown the baby to the ground. What I would like to know is what her reaction immediately after she "threw" the baby was. If I don't know that, I don't think I can say what I think of this regarding her. If she was horrified, that signifies to me that it was out of rage; she has no self-discipline. If she didn't even react, then she is either criminally insane, or just so malevolent that she deserves every damn day she will get.
  12. Question: What exactly is a "good" speed? I mean, I'm perfectly fine with my connection, hell that speed is probably higher since my sister is on a laptop right now sharing the connection. I mean, some people here have 10,000k/s + down speeds.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS THREAD. You win an internets. Seriously, this thread reminded me to check bands websites for concerts, AND THERE IS A STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO CONCERT IN TORONTO. Caplock cannot convey my happiness. Either way, that is basically how I find out about updates and stuff for bands. I'm bored one day and decide to check up on my favourite bands.
  14. The same happens with punk. The more you listen to it, the further you can go into the grungier or harder bands. You get used to the style and the sound, so the transition is almost seamless. For instance, I can listen to all but the worst recorded of tracks, because punk bands are exactly known for their recording talent. And for volume, that is pretty much just hearing damage and being used to it.
  15. A bit late, but picked up the Operation Ivy discography a month ago (Fit on 1 CD  ), along with The Bronx by The Bronx. The Operation Ivy discog was amazing of course, can't quite say the same about The Bronx, although White Guilt is possibly of the my favourite songs. (Both are punk/ska).
  16. hiimben - The Beatles echofish - John Mayer/anything in an oriental language Lionheart_0 - Orchestra/Game music cyco_reborn - cattle decapitation/cannibal corpse/ limpbizkit - NIN Myself - Streetlight Manifesto/The Flatliners/Bad Religion/Punk/Ska dragoonson - What what in the butt Intriguing - Violin Like others, I more often associate genres with people rather than specific bands.
  17. Definitely my favourite memory was the first time my friend showed me Runescape, I think it might have been when Runescape "2" was first released. I ended up wandering around for a long time, completely lost. All I really remember is getting killed by a dwarf, and then getting stuck on an island, only to be killed by scorpions. I actually loved it, because it was so foreign and mysterious, and now I love the idea of exploring in anything. Second best memory would be my now-hacked account Yofreddie (Best. Name. Ever.). Got him to something like level 50, with 60-70 woodcutting, also mined quite a bit. Then, being new as I still was (Or at least clueless), I fell trap to the whole "Jagex blocks your pass" trick. On top of that, I remember randomly being asked by a higher level player to trade armour, his full rune for my full addy. My mind was blown by the act of kindness. I've also maintained that I will do that sometime soon.
  18. GoW, when you tried to dive out of the way of a boom shot or something else that is about to kill you, only to take cover on the wall right beside you, but off screen :wall:
  19. The best way I've heard of playing it is to keep practicing the notes in any pauses during songs (I.e. where the song is still playing, but no guitar part). When you do play the song, strum at the top of every chain (Orange note), and just keep that beat going, it will also let you hit the random chords without thinking of it. Works for me, I wouldn't consider myself good, but I've gotten close to FCing Mosh 1, probably because of that.
  20. Do you regret the time you lost playing video games? Time enjoyed is not time lost. What videogame have you clocked the most hours on I honestly do not know. The most recent contender is probably Halo 3/CoD4, but for all time it may be Runescape, but could easily be Banjo-Tooie. I have over 300 hours spread through the three saves that are currently up, but I can't count the time from previous game saves. I don't really count MMORPGs that much usually. Which game do you keep on playing occasionally? (like games on your snes that you play once a week for the nostalgia) Banjo-Tooie, Legend of Zelda:Majora's Mask; Nostalgia has nothing to do with it. Will you introduce your kids to video games or will you let them spend their time elsewhere? Of course I will let my kids spend my time elsewhere, but there's no reason for me to not introduce any kids I will have to video games. I probably won't even need to introduce my kids to video games. Why do you spend upwards of 30 hours on videogames in a week? Why do you come to a gaming forum, question us about why we game, making it seem like a waste of our time, when you could be doing much "better" things? The answers are the same, or else you wouldn't be asking us these questions: I enjoy it. Are/were your parents right?, Are videogames a waste of time? Please refer to the first question
  21. I'm almost certain that is just you or them having a bad connection :|
  22. When you're playing single player, a player driving + AI with rockets/laser/fuel rod on the back of a mongoose > any combination of player/AI in a warthog. Seriously, the AI may be pretty bad when driving, but when they have rockets, they have unlimited ammo, and just absolutely amazing aim.
  23. One thing I''m wondering is that, you are investigating the impact of MMORPG's on the social and psychological aspects of players' lives, yet there are not many questions actually directed at the social life (Like "On average, how many times do you interact with friends?", etc.). Just something I noticed that seemed weird.
  24. Another possibility is just the shape of the neck. The Strat is much wider, and I think a bit thinner, than the Guitar Hero guitars. I also tend to shift to green rather than orange and I never do any special shifting for trills (I.E. playing B-O trills with my fore- and middle-fingers). Mainly to avoid being out of place, but mainly to strengthen my pinky for later. And I'm assuming that friedmann is Runescapeloser
  25. Me and my friend are pretty sure we started the whole trend of Skull Candy headphones, at least in our school. On our grade 8 graduation trip, we both broke out headphones, so we went looking for some and found Skull Candy ones. Now, I more than two years later, I'm seeing a lot of people wearing them. What really pisses me off is that they aren't even that great sound quality wise, and they break really easily (I've found that out now that I've gone through two pairs). That's not that bad, that's just other people being idiots, the worst part is that now they are starting to be advertised as the 'cool' headphones. Not really a craze, but stilla fad. I've moved on to much better headphones, more specifically Bose in-ear headphones  Also there's Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Beyblades (Those are still fun, hehe).
