Halo 3 Recon speculation thread
I dislike the fact that so many Halo-related threads are sprouting up when they could just have easily been made posts in the Halo 3 thread. It's kind of getting annoying. Anyways, I like knowing what is happening during Halo 2 on Earth while the Chief is off saving a good portion of the Milky Way from sentient cleansing. Also, you aren't a supersoldier, just a good ol' shock trooper.

The Mainstream
Then read the whole damn thing. This really should go into MM&T. Yes, this doesn't just apply do those things, but it's what will most be talked about. The first thing I think about when I hear "mainstream" is music. I tend to listen to everything. I will generally not listen to mainstream as often because it is overplayed in my opinion. Also, I like punk, so it's hard for me to find mainstream stuff. I would love it if Streetlight Manifesto, or NOFX, or The Flatliners became "mainstream". I would be able to talk to people about the music I listen to, whereas right now, I only have one or two people that listen to the same type of music as me. Mainstream means nothing to me. I just find that I prefer indie bands over mainstream, because I find that they tend to focus more on the lyrics, and putting in metaphors. I would like to point to a small selection of NOFX songs.

"No God" adverts to run on bendy buses in London
I'll believe in God when I see Him, and am right of mind. I will never believe in Christiantity, Catholicism, or any other religion. I do love what religion can do for people. A god may exist, it seems like the most logical possibility to me. I mean really, what's more logical than something that, if it exists, denies logic. God is illogical in that, from my understanding, He is the Creator of everything. If He Created everything, then He must have created himself. If we go by logic, than it is impossible for anything to created by itself. If we assume that God does exist, then logic may be circumvented, and so it is possible for God to exist. Assumptions can make all the difference in understanding the way a theist or atheist thinks To be in-topic, I think that a better message would have just been "Don't worry, be happy", but that's a bit cliche nowadays. Atleast the message was "God doesn't exist". I think that the best message would have been "Leave Creation and Evolution up to the scientists and theologists..." which is what I think we should do. Then again, I don't really care what you decide to talk about, as long as it doesn't turn into something that will make me hate this forum. AKA flame war/a shallow "debate".

Is there a point? Is there a reason to live or die?
I'd say the point of life is whatever you want it to be. Do drugs and live life day to day? Go for it. Devote your life to to an ultimate, omnipotent creator? Go for it. There is no single way to live your life. Nor is there a "right" way. It's all just shades of grey, and even that is based on society. I will be living my life entirely different than the way you live yours, with different goals and different ways of obtaining those goals. Questions like this, just stop thinking. You're trying to figure out the universe, and if humanity hasn't come close, neither are you. This post was made assuming religion is out of the question. I am going to live my life with one goal in mind: being happy. If I'm not happy, I'm going to go out and make myself happy. If I am happy, I'm still going to go out and make sure I stay happy. I won't be sitting around hoping others will make me happy.

What are you listening to right now!?
If I Could - Jack Johnson I love this man. It could just be the acoustic guitar, but I still think he's great.

Nintendo Wii - Assistance required!
How exactly did you wipe your friend's disc? I mean, I'd just tell your friend that you wiped his disc by accident (I'm hoping it was by accident), but that you're going to replace it. Unless your friend is a complete [wagon], he should be fine with it. Maybe a little annoyed, but still fine.

You still have to buy 2 map packs, what are you talking about? Yeah, I don't understand what you're trying to say either. In the end you will still have to have had bought two map packs if you want to play BTB. Oh, and the only reason BTB was taken away was because it wasn't getting much activity, or at least ranked wasn't. I am missing my 360, even though it still hasn't left my house.

Anyone else have this addiction?
I'll reguarlary check if someone is playing the same game as me, or maybe a game that I might want to play. Or that should be in past tense, since I can't play atm because of the freaking RROD.

Excerpts from Novel in progress - new one up
That's not censoring, that was because I was too lazy to find the symbol for the schwa vowel. Hell, looking back, I'm not even sure what I was thinking. Basically, there's three possible pronounciations you could be going for: "Yee" "Ya" and "Ye", where the "e" is "Ye" is a short vowel sound.

Eponymous - Updated 10/21 ~ Interlude ~
I just realized how much this story reminds me of WoT. From the character-by-character storytelling, to what I see as an almost identical setting, even Ramsay, who seems to be very similar to either Mat Cuathon or Rand. Even with all the similarities, I still find it a refreshing look on Jordan's world. I badly hope that your book gets published so i can read it.

WoW Gamer Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself...
I think a disability is what is being implied by limp's post. I mean, what if this guy is a double leg amputee? Unlikely though.

Really, I don't think you will get much c/c. As far as I'm concerned you're the best author currently on TIF, or atleas the best that has posted in VL. You might get some stuff if I decide to really try to read in-depth, but just a regular read from me brings up no problems. Also, not knowing the entirety of the book, I can't say what needs fixing in terms of plot. Actually, come to think of it, I'd say that the pirate talk seems awkward to me. I can't tell if you're trying to say "yee" or "y[schwa]" when you put "ye". I would be expecting "ya" if it were "y[schwa]". Only reason I'm confused is that "ye" naturally is prnounced as "yee" for me. That's one thing, I'll hopefully get back to you tomorrow on it.

Writing a new WIP
Like BlueJay said earlier, this is definitely better. There are some things you need to improve though. First of all is your point of view. You keep switching back and forth between third and first person, and it can really confuse you, giving the feeling that you are referring to some unkown character when the only person involved is Elias. Second of all is grammar and spelling, and the mistakes in this give me the feeling that English isn't your first language. After reading this, I can see some definite connections to your first one. I think of this as an alternate universe to your first story, where the worlds are similar, but just x happened instead of y. Also, it's pretty clear that Elias has quite the potential as a mage. I also like the difference between mage and sorcerer, but am definitely interested in learning more about other classes, I'm speculating that some rely on talismans/rune-like objects for power, others potions, and maybe even thought/emotion. Or that could just be my over-active imagination. Anyways, good to see you came back, I really wanted a continuation of that story, but this is even better.

Eponymous - Updated 10/21 ~ Interlude ~
I can't reall offer c/c, mainly because I can't personally find anything I didn't like, but mind you I'm not exactly the pickiest of readers. If this is just a side project, I think I will look into that book you're trying to get published.

Tom Clancy's EndWar.
That is so epic. I can't wait for it. That is awesome, I just want some proof for that, the video would have mentioned it if it existed, but it only mentioned up to 12.

Gears of War 2
How? It actually gives an achievement some merit, and requires some skill.

Gears of War 2
Yeah, the original Halo 3 achievements were pretty good, maybe with the exception of mongoose mowdown and 2 for 1. The only problem with those two were that they relied on either random chance or boosting in order to get. Atleast with something like overkill you will get if you're good enough - or maybe lucky enough. A grenade here, a mismatch there, and you can get the achievements. However, certain achievements that are less reliant on skill, and really just collecting certain things, i.e. get x number of kills with y weapon, are just horrible. It can turn some game modes into nothing but boosting playlists. Like COD4's head to head. I don't think anyone uses that playlist for anything other than completing challenges. One example of what achievements can do to certain parts of a game. There's also stuff like at the beginning of Halo 3, Lone Wolves (Ranked Free for All) was full of boosters. Achivements can make or break games. I'd say it's better to just have them as a way to show others how far into the game you've gone, i.e. for completing the storyline, for beating minigames, for holding a hiscore (I've always wondered why this doesn't exist, there should be an achievement for haing eached the top 10,000 of the hiscores for certain games, this would be a real achievement), for completing a certain number of matches.

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
The series really was awesome. One of the games that made me regret not having a PlayStayion. Oh well. The only problem I have with this trailer is just how kiddie it seems. I mean, first of all the music was over-dramatic, of course there was a graphics update, but what have they actually done to improve it? All I saw was a different plot. Hopefully it will be made to cater to those who grew up with the series, rather than kids who have probably never heard of Spyro before. I really doubt that, but I like how this is a multi-platform game, rather than a PS2/3 exclusive.
