  1. If you read my words carefully you will see that I don't suggest getting rid of trading altogether, just the ability to buy using cash directly from another player. You can still trade by exchanging items, ie barter. The scenario you have given is what lootshare is designed to cater for. Also, if you read carefully, you will see that all my suggestions remove the ability to transfer, either directly or indirectly, cash to another player. The Pker will still get his victims items, the player dying will still be able to get his items back and you will still be able to trade. The only thing that you will not get returned is cash. I cannot see how this will adversely affect anyone. After all, who, with any sense would go PKing or monster hunting carrying several million in cash.
  2. In england you mean... They got the ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì in europe you imperial chauvinist :P pounds are used in all the uk (Northern ireland, wales, scotland, england), not just england, and the uk is part of europe. (correct statement: pounds are used in the uk, euros are used in the rest of europe) Just to correct your correction : ponds are used in the UK and euros are used in MOST of europe, eg if memory serves me right Sweden does not use euros.
  3. i highly dout thats how its going to work. there is going to be a price set for each itum based on prices right now, and you cant sell for any more or less than that. you dont get to set watever price you want. that would never work, there would be tons of people in there trying to sell anything for 500m or watever just to take up space. Again people are speculating on how the GE would work. However, I wouldn't expect Jagex to set maximum prices for items. Merket forces will set the prices of items. You may try to sell your yew logs for something ridiculous like 1M each, but no-one is going to buy at that price. Additionally I would expect a time limit to each sale, eg after say 24hrs with the item not sold it is returned to your bank, otherwise the GE would soon get full with rubbish items and perhaps even being used as a second bank by players.
  4. Yes you could use this method, but it would be easy to detect. With all trades going on via the GE Jagex could keep a log of ALL trades and easily write a program to detect items that are being sold way overprice, like in your example ashes. I agree, but they could drastically change it. My bet would be to remove direct selling via the trade option and just make trading between players a bartering system, ie. goods for goods.
  5. I agree. Think about the problem for a minute. What is the root cause, is it : a) the gold farmers/bots that infest the yew tree areas, fishing spots etc OR B) the real world traders that employ the gold farmers/bots. The answer is obviously (B). Make it impossible for the RWT to give their customers the RS gold in game and they will give up, and hey presto 99% of the so-called bots will disappear. Not all the bots will disappear because there will always be some players who auto for their own benefit (as was the case in RSC and the early days of RS2). Jagex obviously looks at the problem in the same way. The Duel Areana was a prime mathod for RWTs to give their customers the RS gold they have purchased. Thus something needed to be done about it. This they did, and unfortunately upset a small percentage of their own customers for the benfit of the overall customer base, who were screaming at Jagex to do something about the problem. If we take this another step forward then Jagex are going to attack the other methods that the RWT use. One of these is the up-coming Grand Exchange. I can now see Jagex making this the only way to buy items by removing the ability to buy things in direct player to player trades. By doing this they can quite easily keep a check on all trades and soon spot anomalies, like someone buying a bronze dagger for 10M gp which would obviously be a real world trade. The player to player trade would remain, but you would only be able to barter, eg. "buy" a rune scimitar for 100 yew logs As far as drop trading is concerned - that one is easy. If you drop GP it is destroyed. Same goes death whether by monster or PKing, all cash dropped is destroyed. These methods will reduce the ability of RWT to deliver to their customers drastically, but will have very little impact on the overall RS population.
  6. Incorrect - I, and I suspect a very large number of people, very often drop things to be picked up again.
  7. brave replied to a post in a topic in Rants
None of your methods will really be effective (except maybe the visual code one). The only way to get rid of autoers/gold farmers is to hit the source of the problem - the RWT. No RWT = no bots etc. Hence, the Duel Arena update.
  8. This thread should be renamed to : a potential solution to the dueling problem: trust scams However, if anyone wants me to act as a middle man and trust me with millions of GP just let me know - I need the cash :-w
  9. Everyone seems to be assuming that summoning will provide you with the ability to call up a monster to help you fight another one (or player). No-one has even considered that summoning might be a case of you summoning a particular monster for YOU to fight.
  10. One way animals could possibly help with skilling is by acting as pack-animals, ie. allowing you to carry more per trip to, for example, a mine. This is hinted at in the BTS as Jagex are saying that not all the summons will be combat related. However, I can imagine the whinging and whining from people saying how easy skilling is now that we have pack animals and can effectively mine quicker. :wall:
  11. I agree, you would not always want to go to the GE to buy something. There are times when a single trade is required. For example - how many times have you desparately required a spade, or a single law and traded on the spot. As I said previously stopping these sort of player-player trades would cause the biggest exodus ever seen on RS.
  12. I'll still be here - trying to get to 99 in each skill the hard way  , ie. not buying them. Seriously as has been said elsewhere, for every person that quits there are another 3 who will join. These new members will not know about the old Duelling Arena (or any of the other things Jagex has "killed") and be quite happy to play the game in the state they find it. It will only be us "oldies" who will remember and can then say "I remember when....".
  13. I would be very surprised if Jagex were to remove direct trading between players as it is one of the fundamental principles of the game. Removing it would affect EVERYONE, not just a few (as in Duel Arena change, pure essence etc.) and IMO would cause the biggest exodus from the game that there has ever been.
  14. Everyone here is saying Summoning will be this....., or summoning will be that....Folks the answer is we DON'T know. Howver, I can guarantee one thing - as soon as it is released there will be a myriad of topics here, and RSOF, called "Summoning sucks", "Summoning has screwed the economy" and others with words to that effect :wall: :wall:
  15. I have total lev of 1767 with no 99's
  16. Little known fact - MS Vista has inbuilt monitoring facilities in it so that, if they wish, MS can monitor what we do on our PCs. :-$
  17. It seems to me that autoers are now mainly an F2p issue. I have not seen an autoer in P2p for over a month, so I would say that Jagex has mostly solved the problem in P2P. This is because they can put in checks when pople play to keep out aotuoers (or should I say gold farmers). However, the same checks cannot be put into F2P and because of the nature of F2P it will never be possible. So, IMO, unless Jagex manages to stop real life trading (by both F2P and P2P) I'm afraid F2P will have to put up with hordes of these gold farmers. One more reason to be P2P!!!!
  18. From the reports I've read you should be more scared of YouTube than RS and Tip.it

  20. The "Assistance" and "Lootshare" upgrades are not making the game easier. As has been said many time "Assistance" does NOT give anything that was not there previously it just makes things safer. On this subject has anyone else noticed the disappearcnce of the "free gem cutting" scam? "Lootshare" is designed for clans/teams to ensure that everyone gets a fair crack at the drops. This stops people joing clans/teams and arranging so that they always get the drop. As for the Grand Exchange. Although we don't know exactly how it will work yet I think we can safely say one thing - we will no longer have to stand in banks for hours continuously typing "Selling xxx" or try finding a seller in a crowded bank. I very rarely trade for these reasons. Actually it will probably not make trading simpler - whats simpler than player A meets player B and trades? - in fact I think it will become a bit more complex. The only thing I can think of that is making the game easier is the make X option on things.
  21. People keep saying on this thread that time will tell us........ and thats the answer (hinted at by our very own Editor as well) Jagex will give us....... wait for it ........ TIME !!!!!
  22. I'm pretty sure their going to implement a MAXIMUM and MINIMUM price for all items, so there will be no price manipulating whatsoever in the Grand Exchange. Theres no need to implement maximum and minimum price for items. The realistic minimum price for 99% of items is the high alch price and the maximum is whatever people are prepared to pay.
  23. The answer is quite simply NO. Both the clues and the rewards are completely random.
  24. Rimmington. Its useful for quick access to Yews (for wc and flteching), Port Sarim (for Law runecrafting) and a bush patch for Farming.
  25. I hope this is the right place. Apologies if not. Harpie Bug Swarm Fire runes (30, 60) - NOT 90 (I suggest that this was 2 drops added together) Chaos runes (15) - NOT 30 (I suggest that this was 2 drops added together) Does not drop Jungle Herbs - probably this got added when someone accidently searched the tree near to where these monsters are located These corrections have been proposed after killing over 2k and recording each drop.
