  1. Actually, Rowling stated two more characters would die, and that another one had gotten a reprieve (she intended them to die, but spares them). This means there could very well be more than 2 people who will die (actually, I don't doubt that). Snape is bound to die. Oh my bleeding heart... he will probably redeem himself (never really left the so-called 'good' side). But there is no life for him after the defeat of Voldemort. No family, no loved ones, no goal. Snape's death would be one of the last steps of Harry's growth into a man. Accidentally, this is the theme of the books, in case you hadn't noticed. Harry will have to deal with the fact that his stubborn prejudice got in the way of his sense. The guilt, and dealing with it, will complete his road to manhood. Voldemort will die. Wormtail will die. One of the Weasley's will die. I also wonder what will happen to Percy. Harry and Ginny will get married. Hermione and Ron will get married (ugh).
  2. If you've done temple of Ikov quest, that dungeon is a good place. It's close to camelot bank, you just need the Ikov key to get in the dungeon and there are 3 spawns there. I've never seen a single soul out there... and in case you need them, there are even safespots galore.
  3. Yup, you've got it right. Kill the monkey/zombie/gorilla/ninja (archer) and take their bones to the gnome, together with the other stuff you needed to have the staff made, if I'm not mistaken... Good luck!
  4. The online community is an aspect that draws a lot of people into online games, but for me, it is a put-off. I never started playing RS with the intention of sticking with it, and I really dislike the team-based aspects of the game. I love Trouble Brewing, but I'd much rather be playing it with computer-steered characters than with other players, because they generally annoy me to no end. I have been there once for a few hours and I never went back. I don't really mind that there are team-based things in the game, because Jagex caters for the solo players as well. Even if it means that some things are not available to me (DK, KQ, PC, BA, CW...). However, I wouldn't mind if there was the possibility to do certain things against or with NPC's who are computer-based, for example in the games room in Burtorphe. As for my personal gameplay, I really like the idea of a lone adventurer. I have more social contact throughout the day and at my job than I can chew, so I like to draw back into a "silent" RS whenever I get on at night. I have more contact with other players through this forum than through my friends list.
  5. I'm always pleasantly surprised by the amount of adults that play this game. I don't know many of them myself though, I picked up the game thanks to the youngsters who visit the computer centre where I work. I started playing the game to check if it was okay and to find out why it caught their fancy so much, but unfortunately I also got as addicted to RS as they are :D. However, instead of getting flamed by them, they seem to think I'm pretty cool for an "old woman" (25), playing a guys' game. There is no designated adult world, and I don't really think it would work very well if there was. It would be filled with either immature idiots who want to spoil the other players' fun or cocky idiots who think they're oh so adult. Adult clans, individual contacts and world 99 seem to be the way to go.
  6. I just got the DVD's of Metropolis and M by Fritz Lang. Ordered them online because I couldn't find them in any DVD shop.
  7. Cashback - they made a full film out of the award-winning short film. I like films that make me look at the world in a different way after I've seen them. This film did that for me, even though it "tries" too hard at times to be "arty". I do look forward to seeing more of Sean Ellis' work as he matures.
  8. Meh, I think I already posted, but after reading all the following posts, I want to add this: Everybody is so blas̮̩̉̉ about these capes. Before the capes came along, I never even considered getting 99 in any skill and any 99 in another player would make my mouth fall open combined with an inane "Holy...", even fletching or cooking. Now people go like "puh, you noob" if you have a fletching cape :?. I'll hit 99 fletching in a few months, but I won't even buy the cape. Jaded, or what? These 99 capes have made us set goals that, in all frankness, are a bit crazy timewise for something that in the end is nothing more than a game. Alas, these kind of opinions often get flamed. Skill capes that do really impress me are capes of the skills that I put a lot of time into myself: farming, herblore, and above all: love! Ehm, I mean, agility.
  9. 109, Belgium. There are more Belgians and Dutchmen on this forum than I thought.
  10. In bulk on forums, prayer pots (3) sometimes drop to 6.5k each. On world 2 7k is the standard, however.
  11. I'd go for mith arrows. They are great for personal range xp or for selling.
  12. None. But I could have some for offensive language, I guess. When I trained in Brimhaven I positively cursed my head off... not by saying very awful stuff, really. I just thought of more obscure British curses that aren't picked up by the filter or invented my own, really silly ones . The other players usually laughed and went along in the game, but someone could just as well have reported me. It was only later that I realised I endangered my account by fooling around, so I don't do that sort of stuff anymore.
  13. P2P - 77,695 (1787/23) "Not too bad." That's what my mother would have said if I averaged this to a hundred at school in my younger days. Don't think she'd be happy with the 58/99(100) that I have in RC though :D
  14. I have neither *gasp, I smell the noob-comments coming from miles* and still managed to get 79 slayer so far. I slay with a full inventory of monkfish (fished myself and home cooked). It rarely happens that I need to bank for food, I can do most tasks in one go (Lost City Master). If I do have to bank for food, my inventory is usually full with drops anyway. Maybe I'll get guthan's someday, but for now I like spending my cash on Miscellania and construction. I'm also halfway to get bones to peaches, because sometimes it can be annoying if you just need a few extra HP to finish your task.
  15. Yeah I like that too. But they don't make a difference anymore between what you already can do and what not (e.g. smithing, herblore,...). The things you didn't have the level for used to be in red or something. I always felt it was a nice achievement to get it to the "yay I can do this now"-colour...
  16. I don't like the idea and even if I did, it would never happen. Poison is a part of the member universe, we all learn that the hard way. I remember standing in a bank screaming for antipoison the first time I got poisoned. Had no clue it eventually wears off, and in one moment of blind panic, I pictured myself taking food everywhere for the rest of my RS life, just to survive... I wouldn't change it into highel levels having more resilience either. It's typical of poison to kill swiftly, no matter how mighty you are. Anyway, this should convince everyone straight away: just picture the general outrage when poisonous daggers would change into simple daggers...
  17. I once posted a conversation I had with Bob the Jagex cat, who had wandered into Varrock. He said something about there being more about the White Knights and warned to watch out for them. Dunno if still have the pics, I'll take a look. Edit: found it. This was the thread: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=544873&highlight=
  18. Actually, they really influenced each other. They were very good friends (no wonder) and moved in the same circles. I'd say they wrote at about the same time, but the genealogy of both The Chronicles as LOTR is rather complicated. I remember once seeing the two laid next to each other on some site that researched the amount of influence they had on each other.
  19. I've had three mimes: 1) 3 days into the game: walking to Falador bank (weird, I think I was mining iron) 2) the day before yesterday: while mining 6000 gold ores in Crafting guild (my third day of being exclusively there) 3) yesterday: while smelting said 6000 ores I'd say long periods of mining/smelting seems to be a good trigger. No Drill Demon so far... When teleporting, I often get Evil Bob. When smelting, I get many genies. But then again, most randoms pop up once or twice while smelting. Oooh, another great random trigger: thieving from the gem safes in Rogue's Den.
  20. Well, after completing Contact, the so-called tougher quest, I'm afraid that your fear is completely justified. Players who completed Recipe for Disaster, Desert Treasure or Swan Song can easily do this quest. It might take them two tries, but they'll get there. Fast. Jagex has expressly pointed out that they consider this to be a high-level quest. Sooo, we cannot but conclude that 80 combat or so is the high level standard. I seriously doubt that they have something tougher for us in the queue, and the more Capes get handed out each day, the less likely it gets that they will develop a quest harder than any of the previous ones. I can't really condemn them for it. But it is a pity...
  21. Tolkien is considered the father of fantasy. Every single fantasy game/book/comic/film is inevitably related in some way to his works about Middle-Earth (incidentally, not just LOTR). Tolkien himself based his works on many Nordic legends and medieval stories. As a professor of Middle-English literature/language, he had a very thorough knowledge of all Germanic medieval literature and a good knowledge of the Germanic languages. (He even proof-read the Dutch translation of LOTR.) Tolkien consciously wanted to revive that fine tradition of medieval literature with his work, secretly hoping that one day, his work would be as the medieval stories are to us now. And boy, has he achieved his goal!
  22. Because you just gotta be able to run fast and use the right prayers. You don't need to think out riddles, you're not sent on a long and unnerving search around the world. I wore black d'hide and protected range while doing the maze (rune and protect mage would work too, but I rather risked black hide than rune + the lesser weight helps), in the end battle I prayed melee. You only need to kill one wuss monster. Okay, so he spawns some helpers. But you can just ignore them and keep whacking the big boss, they disappear when he's dead... For me, the whip did work miracles, even though a lot of people had trouble with it. So. No requirements (except a few easy quests). No irritation by unnecessary walking around. Superfast. Just one 192 monster that really needs to be killed. How could this be difficult? Of course you die if you don't know how to 'handle' the situation. That's why you go take a look without items first, to check out the situation out and die without worry . Or use guides/advice, of course.
  23. Oh dear, I'm afraid that I'm probably one of those people who 'ruin' the wild. So I'm breaching myself for expulsion from the community and flames, but here you go. Killing other players holds no interest for me at all. And vice versa even less... I only go into the wild for one thing: clues. And I behave like a complete wuss. I log out when I see someone approaching, I run, I pray, I eat, I teleport, I drink energy pots/anti poison pots. I wear no armour (don't wish to lose it, thank you very much), just boots of lightness and a whip to kill the Zamorak guy. When I get my casket, I sprint out of the wilderness again (ok, with an occasional stop at black unicorns, I admit). I can see that this would be very annoying for PK'ers. The thing is, their motivation is very different from mine. I'm an easy kill. Now, easy kills don't have many options. They know they're on the lowest level of the food chain, and they just have to use every cowardly method to save their hides. You know, if RS had a 'roll over and play dead' option, I'd even gladly use that. For me, the wild isn't about honourable duels or making money from other players. It's survival. What I also don't really get (but as you can read, I'm wilderness-inadept), is why you feel that the duel arena doesn't really solve the problem... You can set all the rules there and play the duel exactly as you see fit. What is that is missing there? The thrill?
  24. Snakeskin bandana. Especially on a female character. Ew. I was quite happy when I got my robin hat from a treasure trail, just to get rid of that ugly thing.
