For the combat ring, I'd just go for the dragonstone (i). It's pretty inexpensive to replace (even factoring what you have to invest for investment credits) and gives better bonuses than standard fremmy rings. Onyx is only +1 more in every stat, but many times more expensive and harder to replace. Even the diamond ring (i) matches the warrior ring if you're fine with that.

I'd probably say veracs is still somewhat useful. Using it on mithrils and of course the KQ is still a legitimate application.

I would think that the development of both would have less effect on each other than you would think, but then again at this point, what do I know? :rolleyes: Also if OP is using an external HD, I will have to agree that when eSata rolls out with SATA 6G as a standard, that should be the way to go.

Alright, I rescind that argument for now until I find further evidence otherwise. The only article I found that agreed with my stance was from 2008, which is like forever ago. However it was a little mix bag though. Although 2.0 is much closer to 320 Mb/s opposed to the theoretical 480, it's still around 10 MB/s faster than most flash drive transfer rates I managed to find.

Thank you for providing the numbers. Based on this I can see that I need quite a few Trading Stick as the "burnrate" is quite significant when using the parcel service to bank. However, don't let this "burnrate" discourage you. The gems are pretty easy to buy and it works out to be 1k gp in sticks an invent :rolleyes:

Cut topaz, jades, and opals are definitely way to go. Look up how much you'll get for them (Here), their price on the GE, and then figure out whichever one gives you the best gp/stick ratio. Also consider buying some tribal clothes as you'll get more sticks that way. However, it's only worth it if you plan to cut A LOT of mahoganies.

You don't need to do that with Optimus. Basically the laptop comes with the Geforce card and integrated graphics. When the driver detects that the graphics card is necessary, it turns it on and smoothly switches the display. This way, the battery can be saved while not playing games/watching videos. Hmm, I guess I'll have to look into Optimus more before I make any more judgments, but I'd think that even if it switched to the integrated card you could still improve battery life by specifically setting it that way. The integrated card will use less power overall than the external one, but you can still throttle it to save even more power. Unless of course Optimus does that for you already. That would be cool. And I still stand by my point for USB 2.0 being all you really need. What do you really need the USB port for that requires high data transfer rates? Flash drives and maybe external hard drives. In both those cases the hardware itself and not the interface is often the limiting factor in transfer.

I would think having meat-shields like scouts (maybe foot soldiers since they can tank more than one hit) could help you move your ranged units up and snipe at the enemy. Wall-hug so you only need two troops to defend a unit from scout rushes (unless they charge you). It's just that formations like these could take a long time to set up. Btw, this is all speculation. I've never played the game :rolleyes:

USB 3.0 is totally unnecessary. Usually it's the hardware itself that's the bottleneck for performance, not the interface. Even the top of the line WD Raptor drives or SSDs can't make use of the capabilities of SATAII, and SATA has been around for the better part of a decade. I'd say USB will become relevant in about 5 years, but even then USB 2.0 will still be fine. Can't say anything on nVidia Optimus, but I'd advise against getting a 9-cell even if they do come out. If you've ever seen one, they're unsightly and bulky. Some people like it since it acts like a sort of elevating bar for angling your computer, but I think it just gets in the way when I'm on the go. Often just adjusting your power options (throttling CPU usage to ~75%, select maximize battery life option for video card, etc) will give you a lot more usage. My own laptop goes from 1-2 hours on full load playing stuff like CoD and ACII (just did that as a test) to around ~5 hours when I set everything to low.

I like this build, only I'd replace the halbs with mages/archers. Mages can 1-hit everything unboosted except champs and the range is nice, but you need to set up meat shields which can be a lengthy process. Rangers can kite around everything but scouts.

When your computer is booting up, hit F8 or whatever the screen says is the "Setup", "Configuration" or something like that key. This gets to your BIOS where you may be able to set function keys to the primary use of your F1-F12 keys instead of those silly media and folder opening ones. I used to have this problem on my own laptop and this fixed it. Some of the keys are somewhat useful (changing volume + brightness) so I preferred not to uninstall the driver for it. Using the Fn key to change volume or brightness seems totally reasonable for me.

I would also choose the second. +22 ranged attack and +15 mage defence over the first. While we're on the topic, how could we apply this for melee set-ups? Rune def is pretty hard to beat in most cases.

That's true, but I specifically said "you do not want to kill them in the eerie". It's really not the best place to kill them, you get less kills/hour. If you know which avies often get attacked by other monsters, then the spots that set you up near those would be best. However, avies are often crowded at peak times and so the eerie would somewhat better due to its lower popularity. As for your advice, I'd replace the B2P tabs and fire staff with a lava staff. Since avies drop waters anyway, the lava staff saves you money in terms of tabs and gives you an extra slot for the trip. You just need to bring a small stack of them when you go on your trip, which shouldn't be a problem since you pick them up anyway.

B2P is fine on its own and enchanted excally helps a lot with healing + def boost. You should be able to tank them effectively anyway with 99 def. What is your budget?

It has similar stats to the prom spear, but you can use zerker with it. Slash is also arguably more useful than stab anyway. So now that it contends with the prom 2h, does its extra tick of speed make up for the accuracy + strength difference?

Don't dwell on apple trees for too long. Make the switch to oranges the moment you can. There are some apples that sell for cheap in the RFD chest and respawn pretty darn quick.

Get a longbow sight and then tank range stuff. Good fun :thumbsup:

There was a lot of debate in the general discussion forum. This ring was either grossly OP (8 DDS specs/3 claw specs please?) or next to useless. It turns out it was the latter.

It depends on melee stats, but LBS ~= Broad Bolts > Spear > Arrows

Go with bursting ice rock lobs. Massive mage and HP xp as well as probably the fastest rate of charm gathering in the game. Optimal startup gear is a bit pricey though, not to mention you'll spend a lot of money on runes even with battle robes + SoL. However, many will argue that you save so much time in terms of charms gathered and the high xp rates that it's well worth every GP.

Herblore is also quite useful if you solo dungeoneer and need to boost for a skill.

I actually found rushing floors 1-(Max floor - 7) to be pretty good overall xp per hour. Not only do you get to do the better floors sooner, but it's also very satisfying and almost relaxing to just plow through a dungeon with ease and only have to worry about keys and monsters.
