They will start to decline fairly fast after 2008 probably because no-one can gather the money anymore to afford one, There will be very very very few new people entering the rares market, especially the phat market; so prices will be forced down to dirt level eventually.

There may well be a shred of hope left for the wilderness
monkeyboo2 replied to Des_Troyer's topic in General Discussion
I don't think being killed is fun. I think it's important to cater to both people who like the PK aspect and those who don't. Confining PK'ing to an arena is the best decision. I like the new changes and hope they stay as is. hmm i don't usually judge people on levels but when you get to higher levels mate, you will see the massive distraught these updates have caused. You may think these updates don't effect you but they do, and if you opened your eyes and noticed, i think you would care. And Pking was confined to arena, called the wilderness.!!! :-w \ :-s The revenants are no replacement for real wilderness danger. I also don't like condemning ppl with lower levels, but you must learn more about the older game, before commenting on how changes have effected the game, rather than than saying exactly what Jagex would say. 'Catering for all' has been used many a time in Jagex posts and updates. And i've got to say its a phrase that eminates doom from past experience. :ohnoes: -
I usally think of a way around it or with it. If i was a pker instead of rioting/crying/whining/committing suicide i would be doing something with the other pvp aspects of runescape, or trying out other elements of the game. My thinking is mainly overruled with logic unlike most people though. My mind is often over-ruled by logic, which tells me that enough people quitting will atleast smite Jagex and give them a wake up call; even if old RS isn't restored. I still feel that RS has the process of leveling now, but with not much to gain from it if you ever do reach 99 mage or range (duelling, Pking, fun gone). This goes for hunter, fletching, rcing and many other non-raw material skills. Without duelling i'm brought back down to a mortal player, even with 30m Fletch and hunter xp, and 99 mage. Those skills earn no money any more, compared to raw material skills now, which i find boring. My fun was always wih the money, levels, ranks, skill (at duel arena, effiency, innovative ideas); but the real fun came with gloating and being a general cocky, friendly guy with my friends, and random people (soon to be friends). It was all about going up in the world. Now i have nothing to gloat about because i can't duel, i can't make enough money to be above the average player (say 500m?) and i'll never be a patch on some players. Therefore i have little starting point for talking to new ppl, and very little i can do in game that won't make me think of the good old days back when this was profitable. No-one ever rises in the world without excessive time being spent. Duellling, and other skills which were nerfed by the side -effects of the updates, don't make you rise in the world any faster. I am permanently stuck at the above average standard of character, so i'm quitting because i'll never be anything more. Anyway, i seem to have gone and become a complete contradicter of this thread by ranting about me quitting (lol) but never mind hey; it gives you an example of the people you all know and hate. :XD:

Normally, i think the complete opposite; however this is an exception.

13 December 2007 - "A Word About Our Updates" + Wallpaper
monkeyboo2 replied to jonni's topic in General Discussion
Or so they say. Legal and sponsorship trouble i believe was linked; so to save their pockets they had to remove what investors would consider a threat to the stability of the game: RWIT's, and what many laws would class as linked to crime; bring Jagex under the risk of a fine. -
J Mods can edit their stats, items and appearance. However thats the only type of account that can, as far as we know; and it could depend on hwo easy it is to change a player account to a J mod account and back again, in order to change its stats. However, i see no problemn in changing the name; but why should he need to? Krazyfaken is fine. Jagex should be a little more selective about which complaints they listen to. And maybe they should start listenig to intelligent complaints about new updates. No specific updates mentioned :o :uhh:

Who have YOU lost due to the recent updates?
monkeyboo2 replied to tazo6114's topic in General Discussion
MOst people; close friends, most regulars on my world, most people who knew me. Atleast 50 on my friends list have gone. I'nnm heading that way too. Its not worth it any more. -
BOTS HAVE FOUND A LOOP HOLE!! (HELP!)
monkeyboo2 replied to Bradley_006's topic in General Discussion
why would they use the GE instead of the direct trade. using direct trade it is still possible to trasnfer money, just very slowly. (1 mil per hr). But it depends on how rich the reciever is. RWIT's can keep just giving their buyers 'good deals' on expensive items like santas, which can transfer over 1 mil per trade! and 15m on phats. Potential loophole, although it requires small wealth to begin with. -
So how DO you make a large amount of money now?
monkeyboo2 replied to ugafan_2009's topic in General Discussion
True; but i have put in the hard work and hours, although for the wrong skills (by pure luck). Mage, hunter, fletch, rc, crafting and other of my best skills haven't benefited from this. ONly gathering skills like mining and wcing have got better cos of less autos. So that puts me in the trash because of what skills i chose. Anyway, ore prices are still low except for rune which has rocketed because of how hard it is to get now. -

Nat prices have fallen, and are likely to drop further, because who wants 99 mage now you can't PK/Stake with it? Melee is cheaper to kill monsters with. Visage and Godsword are decreasing in price, they were staking weapons/shield. The only decent suggestion is the Slayer Monsters; but of course a whip now and again won't help much, especially with its drop in price, and a dark bow is really better used as firewood. Chinchompas Prices have dropped alot. WHo wants 99 range now that you can't use it for PK/staking. Melee is simply cheaper to kill monsters with. Herbs still go strong though? IDK, how are herbs doing. Barrows lowered in price-mainly staking and Pking uses. Impetuous impulses, dragon arrows and darts-very hard to sell. Low price anyway. Wcing- have yew prices raised? this could be the only hope i see. Sharks- prices dropped Coal-prices dropped. rune-prices ROCKETED (but not easy to get). iron prices dropped. Plz don't say we don't know how to make money, we just have our options severely limited on how to make any decent money. And as someone says below, you cna't get better than people in any other way than amounts of time spent on game. Which takes away the point for me. -
Did you notice at all the point of his post? He's talking about the various ways members can make money much faster than free players, not about items. Did you notice that monkeyboo2 EDITED their post after I posted mine? I was replying to what I originally saw, so stuff it. Your rude nature does you no favors, Jimmyh7 ~Mr. Devnull I didn't actually edit any part of the message that you were talking about. I just added the second quote.

Its nice to have principals of game. But to do that you must have a game; thats not the way Jagex is going. Think for a moment, or research on wikipedia, Star Wars Galaxies; it went just the same way, until it died. Jagex have unlimited supplies, which take no effort to collect. They could always undercut. BUt then once gold companies have gone they can make their prices bigger. This may tempt some gold companies to come back, but Jagex can waste their time by undercutting them again. Of course some players won't be happy, but its beter than this.

Well i was thinking about the whole crappy update crisis and RWITs, and came somehow to the conclusion that we all RWIT. Either by paying membership fees to jagex which gives the ability to earn more money. And by spending real world time (time can be sold for money) getting money. It may seem obvious, but we all RWIT already, and why didn't Jagex go down the Legitimise Official RS gold selling. with the right restrictions, it would have caused less problems than curretn updates i think. So why didn't Jagex legalise gold selling, but with afew restrictions?

You mean without PKing? Without the ability to trade more than 3k at a time? Without the ability to duel for any sort of profit? Yes, seems like the game is being played EXACTLY like it should be. Edit: Looking at your join date, you have no idea how the game should be played. Agreed. There is no 'how it should be'. That was the genius of freestyle games like runescape. But we're being cramped in. and made to play with no ingenuity; nobody can stand out of the crowd without playing hours and hours and hours. And if thats 'HOW IT SHOULD BE'- god forbid. Think of Nature running; with all these restrictions, community things that really stand out would never have happened. Nothing interesting or out of the norm; just ppl grinding to become just another average player. Thats what it has reduced us too; we are not people, we are just another average player, unless you have hours to spend.

Did you really think Jagex didn't know this would happen? They did it because they felt they had to, and because it aligned with their principles for the game. Consider that they could have just taken the easy way out and allowed RWT and even sold gold themselves. Probably could have made nice money at it too. As for the people rioting -- every time one of those morons quits, the community improves. If I ran Jagex I'd ban rioters on the spot. Well qeltar, i found some of your articles/posts very truthful, and some of them quite ignorant. I think this is an ignorant one. Every person quitting is not an improvement to the community. I'm probably gona quit because of the staking limits really. I trained and trained and trained my mage and my hunter and my fletch and have gathered all resources i need for 99 range so that i could duel. Over that time training, i had alot of fun, met alot of new and important people and became relatively famous for personallity and skill in my few worlds. I even started making a duelling video in which i won over 100m, even without 99 range. My motivation was unmatched and my goal was clear. I had over 400 people turn up to a really fun 99 mage party! Now, i'll never finish the video, i'll never become the duelling name that i thought i could become and question why i bothered getting 99 mage and all the other skills that i had done for the purpose of building towards a staking dream. :( Anyway, as arragant as this is; when i quit i don't think it will be an impovement to the community. I'm waiting to see summoning before i make my final words.

Tip.it Times Presents: What the heck was THAT?
monkeyboo2 replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
Well didn't i warn you guys this would happen? but, yeah, its bad; although i think the duelling update was more of a surprise, this was anticipated. -
Does anybody know where the Thread is...
monkeyboo2 replied to monkeyboo2's topic in Help and Advice
true, but this i doubt the help and advice forum is as active as this one, and i do need to get onto a full world fairly urgently. -
There was once a thread which instructed ppl how to make legal desktop links to RS worlds. Anybody know where its gone? http://jolt12.runescape.com/ and stuff like that. BUt i need a specific world; information that only that thread has to hand, to my knowledge.
-
Agreed, it sounds good. Although it nwould not be as effective as current measures, but it wouldn't be as horribly extreme. I prefer this to recent updates. Hmmm; getting Jagex to lnisten won't be easy though; not now they're on their high horse and have spent alot of itme and money making this plan. Maybe they should have consulted their players first?

rares price affected by january update?
monkeyboo2 replied to Bradley_006's topic in General Discussion
GE will sell to anyone, so "uneven" trade within the 5% limit with a random person is possible. Intentional uneven trading with a named person isnt. If a 300m party hat (for example) could be sold at 5% unbalance above normal. THat could trade across 15m per trade. Thats a fairly fast rate for RWITers in this day and age, although it does require the buyer to have a starting value of atleast 300m. For RWITing to be fully removed, do the %ages of trading unbalance need to be tightened further? or do rare prices need to fall to a small enough price to make it not worth RWITing with them. Hmmmmm. I better not speculate again. I was TOO right last time  -
NO, destroying RS ISN'T intentional. If RS was intentionally destroyed, people would not move to other jagex games, because they wouldn't want to rejoin a company that stabbed them in the back once. Jagex aren't stupid. They are simply doing what they think is best to remove RWITing. Yes, they have gone too far; making a little war out of this, and are doing the wrong thning for the game as a whole, but not deliberately. They don't want to ruin their company image, because no-one would ever buy from them then.
-
Personally i think Jagex have done a better job of this than the duelling arena update. They gave us no warning, no reason for that; this time they haven't had me foaming at the moath, partially because i knew it was coming, but partially because they were more open and explained why, how , when , who , what and where. Still, i don't like what the effects it has on me, but i can see why their doing it, and now they're doing it in a better way than the duelling update. Atleast it proved my speculation right. In your face sceptics! \
