Well my idea on how it will work is there will be combat and non-combat monsters. (hopefully using existing monsters). After lvl 70 you may be able to use 2 non-combat summons at a time. Combat (not allowed for pvp) e.g, lvl 1- imp. lvl 5-Goblin lvl 10 Spider lvl 15 Thief (BONUS- increase theif lvl by 4) .... lvl 80 lesser demon. lvl 90 Greater demon lvl 99 Baby Dragon You must put your summon away after a while or there is a chance it may turn against you for overworking it! ( to stop ppl always using the best stuff). Only usable against monsters and only in multicombat. Cannot be used against other summons. Non-combat There will be afew types. For example: Skill Animals Pets (they just follow you around) Collecters. Pets lvl 25-Dog (eats meat, chews bones)(activity-fetch) lvl 40-Monkey (eats bananas)(activity-climb) lvl 55-Snake (eats rats)(activity-snake charm) ... lvl 99 baby dragon etc. These just follow you round ad perhaps do a cool emote. You may have to feed them with special food and ndo sepcial activities with each one to keep it happy. Collecter animals lvl 10 Squirrel- collects seeds at a slow rate. 1 per hr? lvl 20 Magpie- collects gold/silver objects at a slow rate. lvl 30 Magic sheep- Spawns wool at a medium rate. 3 per hr? lvl 40 Monkey (also pet)-collects fruit at a medium rate. lvl 50 Kestrel- collects meat at a medium rate. lvl 60 Pelican- collects fish at medium rate. lvl 70 Squirrel (2)- Collects seed at medium rate. lvl 80 Monkey (2)- collects fruit at fast rate. lvl 90 Pelican (2)- collects fish at a fast rate. 6 per hr? Skill related animals. lvl 25 Dog (also pet)- increase hunting lvl by 2, collects hunted animal for you. lvl 30 Lion-increases slayer lvl by 2, increases slayer item drop chances. lvl 40 Monkey (also pet)- increases agility and theif by two ... high lvl things become much more advanced: lvl 99- Baby dragon. May Smith 20 items per hr. May cook 40 items per hr. May smelt 40 items per hr. May craft 20 jewellries per hr. May light 40 fires per hr. Skill animals may give xp multiplyers to the given skill. Maybe over time your animals become more effective because you nurture them with food and play, so a monkey may increase agil and theif by 4. etc you get xp for being helped by the animals, for example if a squirrel collects a seed for you, you get 50 xp. If a baby dragon helps you cook a tuna you get 1.2x cooking xp (120xp) and 200 summoning xp. Overall i think that summoning will give new ways to do existing skills.

I like the assist system and lootshare (to an extent) but the duel arena was a heavyhanded way to annoy duellers and effetc RWITers a little. The Grand exchange is bound to be a replacement in some way for normal trading like the Duel tournaments were small compensation for the loss of the duel arena 1v1. It has effected everyone in some way; Whether the amount of ppl at your mining/wcing/hunting place has increased. Whether you can no longer stakes. Many prices have changed, you may find this inconvenient. Many people have quit, maybe some of your friends. And many more. PS expect to see trading limited in some way soon.

Will there be any impact of duel arena update on rares?
monkeyboo2 replied to Freesia's topic in General Discussion
That's where you're mistaken. Jagex can create rares with the snap of a finger. Their current rarity is artificially induced. Sorry to burst your bubble qeltar but as a far as i know jagex mods cannot trade, duel, die or drop to other plays so cannot release more items (rares) into the game without including them in an update. If Jagex could do that it would be a big security risk that a Jagex mod could make items and sell them for Real World Money. It would be an unlimited source of Real world money for the guy, until Jagex found out. Jagex wouldn't allow that to happen. : -
losing potential money is also a problem. Think of the bad reputation that jagex get from this, so people won't hear as often that Runescape is a good game, it'll have more negative rep. Losing potential money is sometimes more infuriating than losing actual money. One day on runescape i saw a phat on the floor (someone died in the abyss when it came out lol), but lagged out; and i always wonder how things could have turned out. ITs very frustrating. On tuesday i could have won another 100m at the duel arena, but i may never know. Jagex could have had a lot more money and been a more successful company, but we may never know. Thats what will eat away at Andy Gower, losing him sleep; he could have been richer.

I don't think they'll mess with skills, they'll just mess with the other ways to transfer items such as tradin and dropping. see http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=5425347#5425347 oh and i must add:
-
Yeah maybe they will just limit it but jagex have become a little unpredictable. :ohnoes:

i would have thought barrows would go down, because their primary use was for duelling, and thats gone, making them less useful/less in demand items. That's true but "dueling" is not dead, staking is. Many people are using barrows for the tournaments now. Hnmm, still i wouldn't think that that will last, duelling tournaments in barrows (that cost money to use) for small prizes if you win, may not be profitable.

There is another thread for this already (even though your perfectly right, kudos). http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=5425347#5425347

AN old one, i know about; When the Mage Training Arena came out, people used a glitch with POH's to get money into the alchemy training arena and gain millions of mage xp for a relatively small price in seconds. Jagex later fixed the bug by making a maximum amount of money that could be cashed in and sorted the POH's. The next ppl who tried to boost their mage put loads of money in but didn't get any mage xp...ROFL! Oh btw the world 82 walk on water glitch was cause by cats; people went across the agility thing with their cat following them. Whilst the cat was following along on the water, another person would click on the cat and be able to run onto the water. Those pesky little cats :o. Also: The maul glitch allowed people to use unlimited special attacks for no apparent reason, which lead to alot of unfairly lost money in the duel arena and the wilderness.

even though its old, its still worth a lol, and even nrelates to Jagex's attitude towards RWITing and the duel arena. If theirs a problem in the game, remove the fun bits so they can't be exploited!!!

Summoning being confirmed, other reasons?
monkeyboo2 replied to One Too Far's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much! :P Now lets all go with the hype and forget about duelling like we are meant to :-k . (sarcasm) LOL, not so easy, Jagex. We still remember the duelling arena, we are not (all) goldfish. :XD: -
Ehh...I'd say now removing RWT is a higher priority to jagex than not upsetting players. Need I point out exhibit A? Exhibit A didn't upset a vast majority of players, maybe a minority that held a lot of wealth and power but they still will have most of their players still paying for membership. If they removed Direct Trading, chances are it would upset x100 more players, including F2P. Yeah, I really hope that this "Grand Exchange" is more like a market place in every town. That would be one of the only way to make this be very popular. Another way they could do it would be to maybe make an auction format? Where the item has a limited amount of time, on people bid on it? Or maybe locked trades, where only certain people can buy from it? (to keep perm trading alive) yeah i hope so, but i can't see it happening.

Curing the Disease by Killing the Patient
monkeyboo2 replied to qeltar's topic in General Discussion
An interesting perspective, but there are of course legitimate stakers like me who just say 'hey, i've made a bomb from hunting, fletch and mage, why don't i multiply it?'. It would seem abit extreme if Jagex tried to stop ppl becoming wealthy so they can't RWIT. I think the main reason is to get rid of RWIT's but they are doing it the wrong way, and upsetting customers by doing it like that. -
Never thought of that way, i just thought jagex would remove personal trading from the game altogether, and force us to use GE. see http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=718195

I LOLed ( :XD: ) until i realised i had a bad chest infection, so i had a coughing fit ( :-X ), and then i grimaced cos i realised how close to the truth it was. (:-s)

sorry duke, only started coming back onto these forums alot yesterday, musta missed that. I'm saying the Grand Exchange may be Jagex's replacement for the trading system. In their own dillusioned way they'll see it as success against RWITers, ignoring the let down for real players. THe assist system is one of the updates that makes the trading system less needed, along with lootshare and the grand exchange, all leads to the trading systemn becoming almost obsolete. I hope i'm wrong.
-
Economy does apply, and i thnink if you play RS you will be forced to use the Grand exchange, we shall see in 1 week. See http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=718195

Tell that to Jagex and they'll say lootshare. I suspect that Jagex will replace conventional lending with an item loan system and with the already in place assist system (can lend skills which lead to items). Of course they are not trying to upset players, they are trying to make us happy by removing cheaters and CHEATING METHODS (duel arena and trading)... so in a sense we literally asked for it, but we should be careful what we ask for... But to soften the blow they give us a less convenient/profitable/flexible alternative. I'm not saying i'm 100% right and you could well be right, but its just an educated guess, which Jagex's recent updates seem to be hinting towards.

Fletch and Mage= xxx neo xxx7 he was the most efficient even if he never made it to the top of the mage tables. He started the 200m mage rush, he led for ages then for some reason he stopped.

true, but if I say it now, i atleast get the condolence of knowing i was right (and R2 Pleasant). :P

well the update has come... And i was right! So i thought i'd bump this. Yesterday, apart from reading one of the bravest posts on this forum about the new update from R2 Pleasant about his remorse, he highlighted another key point (shown in bold of the hidden part). This made me think that we are walking into more chaos all over again. Explained after... [hide] [/hide] At the start of the month there were excited threads talking about all the great changes (possibly some of the greatest changes) that were going to happen in November. We awere naive about what was to come, but who can blame us... We all thought that duelling tournaments would be great, especially for our bank accounts. But there was the catch... Then, nobody saw it coming, that duelling tournaments were basically a worse replacement for original duelling. In Jagex's brutal but failed attempt to stamp out RWITing, they destroyed duelling, and i don't think they'll stop there. I think we are walking naively into the catch of the Grand exchange now, it seems that jagex have made their intents clear ( to rid RWITers of trading methods), and there is an obvious catch to the exchange. we all talk about it as if it will be a good thing for trading(except for merchants) but i don't think it will be worth the catch. Think about it logically now, another way that people RWIT is by trading; and this Looks as if its going to be replaced by the grand exchange no DIRECT trades., Then i suspect we will see drop trading gone by the removing the ability to drop, only to destroy (like you destroy quest items) we may even see PKing and drop piles abolished in some form. For once i don't think i'm grasping at straws. :? think of the Assist system, lootshare and the Grand exchange, all of them lower our dependance on the original trading system, possibly in a gradual attempt to replace it completely. If they do remove dropping, duelling and trading, then they'll maybe have defeated RWITing but upset alot of players in the process. See Jagex's anti-cheating policy below on page 1 :-w (from casthewiz) This time, afew ppl have seen it coming, we have that advantage... Should we already start campaigning to stop Jagex removing direct trading, before its implemented and too late? Other ideas are limitations on trading such as only certain amount of gp per hour exchanged or
