[DevBlog] New Dwarf Quest: Within The Next Few Weeks...
Zaaps1 replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
They most likely are, they just choose not to do DDs on that quest for whatever reason. Since there isn't just 1 team that develops quests, it's probably been in the works for a lot longer than this Dwarf quest. -
220 magic xp per smoke barrage (240 for ice, I think), 180k per ice burst. 520 barrage casts per hour, 550 burst casts per hour. Here's my data for smoke barrage @ 102 mage bonus w/o SGS 114k magic xp/hr 59.5k hp xp/hr 513 casts/hr 6 blue/hr 40 green/hr 163 crim/hr 96 gold/hr 1.45 ppots/hr = ~6 doses/hr 1 cast = 222 magic xp 1 cast = 115 hp xp 1 blue = 85.5 casts 1 green = 12.825 casts 1 crim = 3.15 casts 1 gold = 5.34 casts

[DevBlog] New Dwarf Quest: Within The Next Few Weeks...
Zaaps1 replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
Oh, wow. Well I'd take that over Mahjarrat. All of the Fairy quests have great rewards (Lost city = Zanaris, cosmics, chaeldar, dds and d long; FT1 = magic secuteurs; FT2: Fairy Rings). -
Magneton's OU? I thought it was Magnezone? Porygon2 is UU.

[DevBlog] New Dwarf Quest: Within The Next Few Weeks...
Zaaps1 replied to Mil's topic in General Discussion
if jagex would've done that, wich quest would you decide to do first? impossible mission for me to choose :ohnoes: No I'd easily choose ME3 and Mahjarrat 4. Anything else I don't really care about. FT3: I assume this means Fremminik Trials 3? If so, well it can wait, since there's not much storyline there. Most likely, the reward would be some sort of helmet, and since I use void melee most of the time, I don't care about it. MM2: Would be my next best choice DT2: Basically the same as Mahjarrat quests, right? EW3: I didn't like any of the ones before and they all gave trash rewards (except if you consider being able to kill wyverns a reward, which you can easily do with a DFS) -
It's hard to go back now though, now that all the new attacks and everything have been added, unless you want to make a defensive move to match it. Stalling is good enough as is though, so any improvements to defense would just make stalling better than anything (imagine baton passing a few iron defenses to a Blissy). EDIT: Or worse, giving a few defensive boosts to a Stallrein :ohnoes:

No I think it's annoying and unnecessary. I understand the idea is to prevent giving spoilers, but if you're opening the quest guide in the list place, aren't you ASKING for spoilers? The whole point of looking at a guide is so you don't need to figure it out yourself, so if you are prepared to do that anyway, why bother hiding? There are exceptions. For any of the miniquests/sidequests unlocked after the quest is done, THOSE should be hidden. The rewards should also be kept hidden.

2nd September 2009 - Shops, RuneTek5, Autocasting, Patches
Zaaps1 replied to Sentry_Wolf's topic in General Discussion
So if you buy 100 silver ores you basically can't buy any from the shop again? Well remember every system update, the shops replenish to their full default supply. So whenever Jagex decides to throw an update.... -
Yeah the only skills that offer anything above level 90 are: agility, runecrafting, construction, slayer, smithing, firemaking, summoning and magic. Most of those only offer 1 benefit above level 90, magic, summoning, construction and smithing are the only skills that offer multiple benefits above level 90. (I'm not sure if construction should even count, since the rewards are basically only 2 things with redundant forms, like crystal throne AND demon throne, etc.) This is excluding skills that give you slight benefits as your level increases, such as ranged or prayer. So only 4 of the 24 skills we have offers any real endgame content. Needless to say, all skills should ideally have endgame content, but while that isn't necessary, 4 is way too little.

Heatran with a choice scarf is pretty good. Heatran = RS Basilisk?

Wow, that is really good  -
They are submitted, or so I am told. I forget to who, but I think to Mirrorforced. Your article is then chosen if it is good enough.

False conclusion. If you just want to get kills and are not interested in melee xp (in other words, you are training slayer), using a halberd IS FASTER THAN A WHIP if you have cannon support and are in a single combat zone. That's because the cannon will treat it as multicombat if you are not getting hit. So if you cannoned with a whip, the cannon would just shoot the monster attacking you. But if you were hallying, it would shoot every monster in its reach, even though it's single combat. So for slayer tasks such as Black demons, hallying is FASTER than whip if you have cannon support. Of course, ranged would work just as well. But since it doesn't sound like you're trying to train slayer, I would say to just use a obby sword combo/whip. EDIT: The halberd doesn't hit as hard as a 2h does and it is the same speed. It's a junk weapon unless you NEED to be in a safespot (like mentioned above). "I want to save food" isn't an excuse, because the faster kills make up for the lost food.

Easier to get your first 99 then your second and so on?
Zaaps1 replied to Albel's topic in General Discussion
Well compared to some people, I don't have A LOT of 99s (4), but I have a decent amount. And I would definitely say the next 99s are easier. My first was cooking in f2p, so I kept looking at my xp and tracking it by every thousand xp or so. Needless to say, it was painful. My next 99, however (strength), I sort of learned just to not think about keeping such a close eye on xp to see if I'm "on track" or not (there IS such thing as OVERplanning!) and to just enjoy the ride. To answer your title question, I say yes, it is. -
I do think that the more skills the better, but I'm not pissed about it. I'm glad it's F2P. I'll be to try it out and boost my total level. :) Skill X is f2p?
-
Well remember this is only 1 test, so the percentage error possible is too high. I really don't know what to say. I'd just try another training spot for the moment being and see if I also get below-average xp.
-
That doesn't make them better or more efficient, that makes them cheaper gp/xp, and it's 3/4 the xp. To find out which is really better, ask yourself this question and do the math required: If I spend 1 hour making money, can I make enough to cover the extra cost of 3 hours of reds vs 4 hours of greys? If yes, then reds are better than greys for you and are therefore more efficient.
-
Bandos is worthless. Don't get it. I would get an SGS, but your second option is far more useful (esp. with the EE replacing SGS almost everywhere). Just so you know, the magic potion boosts your magic by 4 levels, so if you're only going to use 97 for an occasional spell (such as spellbook swap or a teleport), then you're better off getting 93 or 94 (if you want to have Veng constantly under your belt, as well as ice barrage) then potting up when you need to.

While casting Smoke Barrage, my results were: 110k magic xp per hour 60k hp xp per hour 163 crimsons per hour, but if you add in the xp you get from other charms, you have 220 crimsons worth of xp 520 casts per hour 6 doses of ppots per hour, but I was not using an SGS 3 barrages = 1 crim, roughly, but a huge mistake most people make is to disregard the xp from the other charms. If you included all of them, you'd have 220 crimsons of xp. http://users.telenet.be/glodenox/Charms ... ttern.html Use that calc to find the cost of your goal. EDIT: My exact results, as posted on Andylax's guide. This, btw is with 102 magic bonus and before the 10% extra damage update. 114k magic xp/hr 59.5k hp xp/hr 513 casts/hr 6 blue/hr 40 green/hr 163 crim/hr 96 gold/hr 1.45 ppots/hr = ~6 doses/hr 1 cast = 222 magic xp 1 cast = 115 hp xp 1 blue = 85.5 casts 1 green = 12.825 casts 1 crim = 3.15 casts 1 gold = 5.34 casts

[DevBlog] New Dwarf Quest: Within The Next Few Weeks...

Or he's telling us it's later so when we get 2 weeks of no updates he doesn't have to hear rants, lol  -
What about the south spot?
-
Perhaps you do need higher strength. When I was at AZs, I got over 100k per hour at 98 attack and 99 strength, without void (used neitiz/torso/barrow gloves/prossy legs in place of it). After all, accuracy isn't the issue there. I'm really not sure what you could be doing wrong. Are you in combat the entire (or close to the entire) time?
-
Of course. Those rates are with max stats with the best gear, best familiar possible (fighter or healer) and praying piety for the whole task, with task changing/banking always taking less than 3-4 minutes. That's achieveable, but for most of RS players, not possible. However, I gave them to be a rough outline. Sure if you are only 80/80/80, you can't get 14k per hour at steel dragons, but you definitely won't have steel dragons faster than irons, right? While the numbers aren't the same, the task's general location on the list is still the game. So while you won't get 23k per hour at Waterfiends, you know they'll still be slower than Dust Devils, for example.

Secrecy? Hints? Obviously the new skill is a message-coding skill where you tranlate messages into a SECRET code and send them off to inportant NPC's. Durh. And if you have a low level, you have a chance to fail and get hung. I was hoping a new skill would be out sooner, but then again, there aren't really that many ideas for skills that Jagex can work on. They've covered almost everything already, so I would think that the new skill would sound unimpressive at first glance. Whether it really is fun or not, though, depends on development.
