I'm really interested in Sunn O))) but I don't know where to start. Can you recommend an album? Seconded. Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts.

I figured we haven't had one of these in a while. Basically, as the title says, post any future or recent gear/instrument purchases you have made or are planning to make, preferably with pictures of said purchase as well. I have now finally decided that my next guitar purchase is going to be one of these: A Dean ML 79F TBZ Floyd with a transparent braziliaburst finish and Floyd Rose tremolo. I'm gonna squeal the crap out of that thing. :D Also, look at that headstock. Magnificent. I've been trying to make up my mind on whether I should buy an Epiphone Les Paul or a Dean for the past 6 months or so, when I happened to stumble upon a website by an instrument company in Germany that had a bunch of great deals for Dean guitars, and they also ship to Sweden. Yeah, it's virtually impossible to find Deans here in Sweden, unless you want a used one for a semi-good price (I don't). So this is too good to pass on. I will most likely order it after Christmas is over. I also bought a Korg Toneworks AX1500G multi-effect pedal a few months ago, and I'm absolutely loving it. Your turn.

It really is a fun game, but the story and graphics are pretty crap. The combat more than makes up for it though. I always say that if Oblivion had Dark Messiah's combat, it would be much, much more enjoyable. Kicking orcs from cliffs, sending them screaming down is quite beautiful. I've just started playing Team Fortress 2 again after a few months away from it. I'm pretty much always playing on this 24/7 2fort server, and I've managed to build up quite a reputation of being a kickass medic. :) The "regulars" there usually greets me when I join the server and such. And just today I got lots of people screaming, "GREAT JOB, HAGEL!!!" over the mic, and one guy who's in a very good guild, [dbd], (well, the people in the guild who are regulars on this servers are excellent players) exclaimed, and I quote, "Whoa, Hagel is badass with the syringe gun" after managing to single-handedly kill off several BLUs with it. I had like 25 kills or so when the game was over. :D But I digress. I love playing as a medic since you're almost always in the middle of the fight, and you really need to keep track of peoples' health (they shouldn't have to spam "MEDIC MEDIC MEDIC OHGOD MEDIC!!") so it's a kind of "stressfulness" that I like, since you're also helping the team advance forwards and progress. A team without a medic usually don't get very far. :) And if you do a good job, people are usually appreciative and give you a friendly pat on the back. If anyone wants a game, you can add 'Hagelreth' on Steam.

The only times I can recall myself cheating was during one or two Computer Communication exams. The exams were close to impossible to pass unless you had prior knowledge of the stuff (I did not). You had to just learn a crapload of different designations (stuff like RJ11, RG45, CAT6, CAT5, network layers etc. etc.) for every exam. The exams also usually had a few scenarios where you'd have to prove what you ought to use where and be able to explain why. The "passing score" was also usually quite high. So while we were sitting in class preparing for the exam, I'd scribble down some keywords on the table, very lightly, so that I could erase it with my finger if I had to/when I was done. The exams were done on computers so it was easy to hide them as well (under the keyboard for example). Ironically, I actually learned them better that way. In other classes it was practically impossible to cheat, since they would usually check your arms and hands before the exams, and if you were caught looking at another pupil's paper they'd kick you out, so it wasn't really worth the risk.

We clearly need a "WHINE ABOUT BANDS YOU HATE GWRRRHAAARGGGH!!!" megathread. edit: music is serious business.
-
Hey me neither but guess what, nobody cares, so you're pretty much wasting your time seeing as this will get locked.
-
Skid Row - 18 And Life. I've taken a sudden interest in sleaze metal lately. It worries me.
-
how interesting please tell me more.
-
Powerglove - So Sexy Robotnik. They make remakes of old video game music, metal style. This band [cabbage]s all over Dragonforce.
-
Isn't it "pull harder on the strings of your martyr"? Budgie - Baby Please Don't Go.
-
Focus - Hocus Pocus.

The resemblance is actually pretty uncanny. Anyway, yeah, it is pretty sloppy at parts (the palm-muting part is a bit awkward) but on the whole I enjoyed it. Pretty good song too. Way, way better than the "bands" that used to perform at my old school, they always did some lame "smoke on the water" or "breaking the law" cover (without solos mind you). The crowd sounded like they enjoyed it as well. :P

The single player was epic, but to be honest I'm somewhat disappointed by the multiplayer. I heard nothing but good things about it before I bought the game, but when I tried it out it was very "meh". The maps are no fun, and I get killed every 10th second. :( Oh well, started playing TF2 again. :)

Please tell me you're over 30.

Your, you're, were, where, there, they're, their, then, than. If you get either of these wrong, I hate you.
-
Nah man. The majority of us simply just like the way it sounds. I'm not some sadistical pig just because I listen to Priest or Sabbath. Also what concert was that? Because it has to either have been in the early 80s or you are grossly misinformed by calling it a "heavy metal concert", when it was probably a goregrind band playing or something.

I worked at a supermarket a while back, and since I was mainly out in the store putting up wares on shelves and help customers all day, I had to deal with a fair amount of strange and annoying people. Kids who'd try to steal things, and not small things like candy or similar, but rather large and awkward things like bottles of soda or, and get this, crispbread, and I'd also get people who didn't know a word of either swedish or english come up to me and try to explain what the hell they wanted... I think those two examples were the most annoying ones, but luckily I didn't get them very often. Hah, the same thing happened to my mom once, this woman in her 60s basically just walked away from her shopping cart, only to arrive several minutes later and throw a fit because people would walk past her cart - until some guy in his 40s basically told her to shut the [bleep] up and use some common sense... which she did - she became quiet after that.

Wishbone Ash - Wings of Desire.
-
You can use both. There are also short-commands you can access. And uhh... no, a headset doesn't come bundled with the game, why would it?
-
The best thing is that catchphrases and "4chan speak" is probationable. Also threads are very rarely locked by the staff members. So basically if you post a [cabbage]ty thread, expect to have people make fun of you for it, and often in hilarious ways. Well, hilarious to us anyway. Red Hammer Week is awesome.

UFO - Rock Bottom. Beautiful.

Hmm. I think you're missing the point of it, seeing as it was made in jest it's not supposed to be taken seriously. What's usually the most prominent stereotype people have of Sweden? That it's like Alaska - hence the "frost-covered" part. Also "plains" and "planes" both work in that context. I'm pretty sure I mean "planes". (PMing works too)

Apart from subSilver, I think subTrail is the only one that doesn't look silly. So I've been using it ever since it was first installed... and then it was removed, then re-installed... and then removed again, but people complained so it was installed yet again. Please leave it be.

Only double pick on parts that are too fast to strum normally. Also, no purchasing gear doesn't help other than to make you look cool. :P Ah good. I'm digging my Bullzeye LP way too much.
-
Oh hell yes! I got it today - three days before it's officially released. :) I just beat easy, and struggling somewhat with medium (I rarely get over 90%). Is it necessary to double pick on medium? Do you guys double pick at all? Because I'm finding it hard to double pick while still being able to work the whammy. edit: also, does purchasing new gear and clothes improve your performance anything?
