how many trips was it before you got your first barrow item
Leesters replied to lukerwood's topic in General Discussion
My first 10 trips I had no clue what I was doing, didn't kill all of the brothers and was focusing on the kill count. lol. What a noob. Then someone told me how they were having success, and said I had to kill all six brothers. I was like.."but they're hard" lol. He said just mage em with pray, and then I got something on my 34th trip. Back then everything was ultra expensive. Then I got really good at it, learned some tricks, and now everyone and their brother is there driving the prices down. Hehe. And from all the "Hyt! Thanks for the guide!" comments I get down there, its my own dang fault. :P -
Yeah, there will be Pkers, thats for sure. Now, you can look at this two ways. The only people I enjoy killing is pkers. So, you can either be a victim... or you can set a trap and get them at their own game. :D Look like an easy target, and when that attack comes, put on your good stuff and turn the tables. Muhahha. According to the article, iti will be in multi, so have friends laying in ambush positions. 8)

Now THAT was a good read. Thanks for the info Craven, that was quite cool. *claps slowly and bows respectfully*

KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
We have asked, but not recently. Rumor has it, recently that have new answers. I'd like to see the new answers. The old answer was: The kill count helps you get better runes from the chest, but we cannot confirm if it helps you get a barrows equipment item. (I'd deleting the "adventure" "strange new land" jagex cust support lingo, ie, I'm parapraphasing) Has anyone sent in a new kill count querry? If so, please post results. -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
Well, statistically speaking, its a significant difference with the sample sizes and the result differential. Since Jagex says that they use the kill count to affect the RNG on the runes and stuff, I'm betting they use it on the barrows items too. The numbers I have are whats called a "significant difference" when comparing "luck" issues. When you take Statistics 101, you'll get it. -
Hmm.. I think you misunderstood. The "theory" I talk about when I say higher kill count improves your "chances" of getting better runs from chest is confirmed by Jagex. At least it was when we were getting the querry response. And, yeah, it never guarantees anything, still random, but I think the odds are affected slightly by kill count. I've killed 20 kill count and still gotten nothing but minds. Just bad luck. But overall, after many many runs, I get more bloods with a higher kill count. Overall, after many many runs, I get more minds with a lower kill count. So it makes sense.

Your credibility is shot. A barrows item every five runs??

KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
In response to RAHK.... Heck, you know it all could be worthless because they might have changed their formula sometime in the middle of this. I've seen Jagex responses that say ring of wealth works now. I've seen Jagex responses that say kill count doesn't matter. I've seen Jagex responses that have been faked. Do they still send the same form letter? I'm tempted to rally all of us together, send in a few dozen more querries and see what they say NOW. After all, hidden updates are always in the game. All I know is the numbers I have. I have no idea if the chest formula was changed since I've been doing this. Lets send in some querries, and see what the responses are. They should have a form letter they send on this issue. Please don't paste fakes. Its not funny, its not cool, and its destructive in nature. -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
 Yeah, sorry about the guide. I just wanted to stress to people on that guide to not waste your time killing 1000 blood worms. Hehe. I need to update that thing anyway, as the safespots are now working totally differently, and address the kill count thing. The guide I did on the main site addresses it better, though.... -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
Yes, if I say something, its true. No, I'm a horrible player, actually. Level 118, and I've tried 14 times and I still can't get a fire cape. I look like a noob when I PK or play castlewars, and I can't seem to duel worth a bean. My clicking skills are far below average. lol. But I'm a SMART player, and that makes up for it. But... I NEVER MAKE ANYTHING UP. You can rely on my posts being fact, or me stating in the post that its just an opinion. :) And.. thank you for the compliment. :D Can I adopt you? lol. -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
You have to kill all six brothers. If you do this, and what you speak is FACT, then you're going through a dry spell. If you go enough (125 trips is not enough to draw conclusions) the numbers will work out in your favor. Its not luck, folks. Its just statistics. The more ya go... yada yada yada. -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I'm thinking the bigger the number, the smaller the difference. 10 vs 20 may be a pretty good difference, but 20 to 30 prolly won't amount to much. Personally, I hope the results are the same as a 20 kc so I don't have to be tempted to stand in a room full of those high-attack skeletons. They hit WAY too hard for their level. :P -
KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM
Leesters replied to Leesters's topic in General Discussion
No. Their response to Barrows querries goes something like this.... I'm going off of memory here, and its a form letter they send to all the Kill count questions they get. ( Your kill count does improve your chances of getting something better from the chest, but much is unknown about these strange new lands, and we cannot confirm or deny if Kill count improves your chances of getting an actual Barrows Equipment item..) paraphrasing. Lots of copies of this form letter has been posted on here. Meaning... yeah, it helps you get better runes, but we're still keeping it a secret if it helps a Barrows item. Well, their secret is out now. (I've been working on this for just a tad bit now. :P ) -
I've done 400 or so runs with a kill count of 10-19. This information is what I used to do the guide. I averaged an item in every 18.1 chests. Since then I've done another 352 runs, and this time my kill count was 20-29. I've averaged an item in every 12.2 chests. Thats a significant difference, even though the margin of error for such a small sample size is high. I did the statistical formula, and its still within the bell curve, meaning its a "significant" difference. This term means that its not "lucky". And since the more runs I do, the more the average remains at once every 12, its proving itself more significant. So, I'm now posting that kill count DOES make a difference..... and I'm posting this as a statistical fact. Continuing on in my quest for a red party hat, I will now do my barrow runs at over 30+ kill count. When I have enough data to prove a significant difference, I'll let you know. If its not a dramatic difference, the sample size will have to be larger to prove significance. So... Kill Count Matters. Woot.

I got a kick out of this thread. Its always cool to listen to the theories and superstitions on how the chest works. Mine? I still use a wealth ring (even though Jagex said it doesn't matter) and I don't kill bloodworms (because the examine says "Better keep your distance") Hehe. Let me talk about the facts, though. What I have quoted is not accurate. The brothers drop either a "set" of minds, chaos, bloods, or deaths. This "set" is as below: Minds - 360ish Choas - 120ish Deaths - 80ish Bloods - 40ish Bolt Racks - 35ish The "ish" means its a random amount.. like the choas could be anywhere from 108 to 130, for instance. The monsters below drop a small amount of coins, which also goes into the chest. The kill count improves your chances of getting a better "set". So if your kill count is 6, you're more likely to get minds and choas. If your kill count is around 30, you're more likely to get bloods and bolt racks. Also, I've been meaning to make a post on this, but I've been super busy. THE KILL COUNT INCREASES YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING A BARROWS ITEM. Yes, its true. With 400 runs at a kill count of 10-20, I got an item in the chest in one in every 18 chests open, (always killing all six, which makes a difference too, per Jagex) as you all know from my Barrows Guide. Well, lately, I've done another 300 runs with 20+ kill count every time, still killing all six, and I've averaged an item in every 12 chests. Thats a significant difference. So, there you go. I will start doing runs now with over 30 kill count to see if that high of a number still makes a significant difference. Keep in mind, if you're gonna do an experiment with kill count, you have to do A LOT OF RUNS for the numbers to be worth anything. The sample has to be large enough to prove anything. You can't go 10 times and make any conclusions. My 400 runs still has a large "margin of error" statistically speaking. The expert has spoken. :P ON TOPIC: The chest does not remember WHAT tunnel monsters you kill, only how many... and they only drop coins anyway.

Price of the Tuna Potato (1 bite - 22hp)
Leesters replied to Ts_Stormrage's topic in General Discussion
Everyone can make potatoes (almost) A lot of people are thinking this is going to be a huge money maker, so there I'm guessing there's going to be a flood in the market. Alot of people won't pay that much more for a 10% difference. When the market floods, I'm guessing that the price is going to be the same as sharks. And then when it settles out, I'm thinking its going to be less than 2k each. And I'm guessing. Someone should pull this thread up in 2 months and see how we all did. Hehehe. -
Just When You Thought Uve Seen Everything On Ebay...
Leesters replied to plx's topic in General Discussion
I went on Ebay after reading this, to check it out. What a hoot! Ppl are selling 1mil gp blocks by the dozens. lol. Jagex must be all over these things just fuming, looking for a clue... I'll bet they buy some just so they can ban when they do the trade. lol. Anyway, I saw a level 118 character for sale.. a player mod, even. lol. Thats kinda funny. Asking 150 bucks for a character. At least I know if things ever go in the toilet I could make a quick Hamilton. :P Disclaimer: This is only a joke. I would never sell any runescape items on Ebay. Do not ban me again. lol. (That D-med story was worth it, though) :P -
Barrows w/Ancient Magicks ed. 22 Aug 2006 (AOW discussion)

I haven't read through all the pages, but the pictures from TipIt aren't showing. If you fix these, I'd like to put this in the Archive of Wisdom Sticcky. There are a lot of em missing. -
King Black Dragon slaying guide has been removed. Read more.
Leesters replied to stanford's topic in General Discussion
Congratulations! This guide is now stickified and immortalized in the "Archive of Wisdom" sticky on the top of this page. Excellent work! -
Thanks, I was hoping someone would look up the manual for me. Well, I decided I wanted the 22 hp per bite, so I did a quest. Yes, making these things are just like a quest. If you are one of the folks like me that provide for themselves (mines his own essense, makes his own runes, etc) and doesn't just "buy" everthing, you'll enjoy this. First I gathered some buckets and went milking cows. I was thinking I'll spend some time making 1000 baked potatoes, but it didn't take long to realize that just wasn't gonna happen. So, I read that there was a butter churner in Yanille, and I knew that everything I would need was there, so off I went. I filled up with empty buckets and millked the cow 28 times. Seperate clicks. The vial filling has spoiled me. Then I go to the butter churner and select butter. To churn one pat of butter takes a full 10 seconds. I can kill Dharok faster than that. And I had to do that 28 times. Now, the empty bucket doubles in your inventory, so really, you can only do 14 at a time, so I dropped alot of buckets on my first trip After 28 butters, I realized I was only gonna make 100 of them. Making 100 butters took me close to an hour. Sheeeeesh. Okay, so now off to get some potatos. *thinks* Goodness, where exactly IS a potato patch, anyway? The first one I remember was at Lumby, so of I went. Didn't take too long, obviously, and I'm back at Yanille. Cooked em up with my own willow log fire by the bank, and I actually enjoyed dusting off the tinderbox (BURNING LOGS IS NOT A SKILL!) Buttered up my potatoes, and be careful here.... you'll eat a few by mistake. Now, when I'm fishing for swordies, I'm always complaining that all I get is tuna, and tell everyone at the dock that my "anti-tuna-prayer" isn't working. So, I figured I'd be done soon. Of course, with the Luck of Leesters, I fished 23 swordies in a row. lol. Finally I got 100 tunas. Now, due to farming, and because I figured all this harvest must be good for something, I saved alot of sweetcorn. If I didn't, then you'd be talking about growing your own sweetcorn which is another 45 minutes. But, another few willow logs, and i had some cooked sweetcorn. Bowls respawn veeeeerrrryyyy slowly at the general store. *sigh* To make a long story longer, over 4 hours to make 100 tuna/corn potatoes. The heck with that!!! ;) That will be the last time I do it, and it didn't warrant its own bank spot. This might be fun nooby thing to do with a friend, but otherwise a pain in the rear. Kinda like a quest. Hehe.

I have a few I can't stand.... In first place is Iron Dragons. I like doing iron dragons, but the assignment numbers are way too heavy. 149 iron dragons takes forever, and is super expensive to do. Takes like 30 pray pots, and I'm a pretty high level. They need to do that like steels, around 30-40 for the higher level slayers. Why so many?? Then there's the turoths. The spear and arrows blow. And they are ugly, and don't drop good, and just plain boring. Then there's crocodiles. Dealing with the water and they drop so bad, that there must be a bug in their drop table. And since the safe spots are all messed up, I don't do kurasks anymore. What a pain. Drops are kinda funny, though.. bananas and pineapples and flax. lol. Ones I love is Daggonoths, because I have a cannon, and thats gotta be the wildest ride in the slayer book. 140 of em go down in 10 minutes. And anything that drops level 3 clues is a winner. I don't do level 2 clues, too much work, complete junk. I'll do level 1 clues because they're so easy, and you might get a beret. Nice topic, even though its been posted a billion times, always fun to do again. :)

Yeah, the strength bonus on the obsidian shield is just too cool. Everyone wants to hit higher, harder. That 5 point bonus is irressistable. The obsidian shield is the same stats of the granite shield, plus the strength bonus. Its a little better for range defense, and a little worse for melee defense. Even if I'm melee defending, I still use the obsidian. I haven't used the dragon square since I got it.

How exactly do you make this new 22 healer? Step by step please.
