Who is Jesus?
I'm 20, studdying archaeology. Jesus was one of the dozens of self-proclaimed Jewish messiahs who were running around Israel at that time. He became too popular for the Romans to control so he was crucified. His followers tried to keep his cult alive, which would end up to be Christianity as we know it today.

The great big freeware thread
Torus Trooper A rather psychedelic looking shooter where you control a spaceship racing along on a (partial) torus, trying to make it to checkpoints in time. Killing gains you time, getting killed costs you time. Other than that, it's pretty simple :)

Just out of curiosity, what's with all the (semi) Dutch names?

The great big freeware thread
It's a bit of a blurred line though, so just to make sure I'd rather keep it freeware only.

The great big freeware thread
All things free and fun in this thread. A few quick rules to prevent this from getting locked: [*:2hntzn1h]Freeware only - Freeware being copyrighted games that are free to download and use for an unlimited time. [*:2hntzn1h]No shareware/abandonware/pirated software [*:2hntzn1h]Don't just post a link, add a quick description, and a screenshot or twoThat about covers it... So without further ado: The DaFoe quadrilogy: Four old school adventure games telling a tale that starts with a simple catburglary but end with a trail of bodies spanning several centuries. Although these games look and play like the DOS adventures of yore, they can be played in Windows without any need of emulators or slowdown software. Note that, like most games dealing with psycho killers, the scenes in these games can be quite graphic at times. If you don't like dismembered torsos rolling out from behind panels in the wall and flayed bodies nailed to doors rendered in classic 320x240 DOS graphics, don't bother downloading these games. 5 Days a Stranger: A cat burglar breaks into a supposedly deserted country mansion, only to find himself imprisoned along with four strangers by a mysterious force. 7 Days a Skeptic: The sequel to 5 Days A Stranger. Four hundred years into the future, the scoutship Mephistopheles and its crew of six discovers something it should have left alone. Trillby's Notes: The third game in the John DeFoe series, which expands the storyline and connects 5 Days and 7 Days. Master thief turned paranormal investigator Trilby follows the trail of John DeFoe's soul idol to a small hotel in Wales, where he discovers the dark history of the cursed wood. 6 Days a Sacrifice: The long-awaited fourth and final game of the John DeFoe quadrilogy. It ties up all three previous episodes so don't even try understanding this game without playing through all the others first. Council inspector Theodore Dacabe is sent to investigate the headquarters of a fad religion and finds himself embroiled in the machinations of destiny.

Iran Kidnaps UK Marines
It's happened before without much consequence. The marines will spend a no more than a week in Teheran before being sent home, with nary a hair touched on their heads. The Iranians aren't so stupid that they'd hand the British and Americans a casus belli on a plate. I'm sure we'll resolve this before an all out war is started. We just need to send the right man.

RTS Games
Dune 2000. I've got it on my mp3 player. It runs on pretty much any computer, and anybody can pick up the basics fast enough to play a decent game within an hour.

Diablo II
We still play 1.10 a lot on the network at my student society. It's installed on every computer in the computer room. It's been going on for over three years, so the shop characters have a huge selection we all share. There are more Arm of King Leoric wands than there are mid/high level necromancers :P

Best Game Soundtrack?

If you're gonna butcher a song, this is how to do it:
There will never be a song as thoroughly butchered as The Who's My Generation being covered by Hillary Duff. Not only was it musically appaling in every way, she completely butchered the themes of the song in order to offend anyone out of buying her crap: "I hope I die before I get old" was changed to "I hope I don't die before I get old".

Clean Energy
All these new techniques, including solar and wind, are still far too inefficient to sustain humanity as a whole. As much as people hate to hear it, the only solution to the CO2 emission problems is nuclear power. Contrary to what the bleeiding hearts would have you believe, there are only two ways nuclear power can be dangerous. Criminal neglect or criminal stupidity. The human element is where the danger lies in nuclear power.

No apology from Gen. Pace for gay stance.
So we should make reproduction mandatory for married couples? Because otherwise they're not 'self-sustaining'? What about couples where one or both halves are infertile? What about people who just chose not to have children? Tell me, why should someone be self-sustaining to be recognized by the governement? I'm not planning to put any kids on this planet, does that make me any less human?

No apology from Gen. Pace for gay stance.
I love the whole gays in the military non-issue. "Yeah... don't want no homos looking at me in the shower after a long day of dropping napalm on small children!" Quote one quote all. Neither should people who eat shrimp or shellfish. People who shave their temples. People who wear clothes made of different fibres. People who grow different types of crops on a single plot of land.

Prove that Atoms/Electrons exist
Even if you don't have access to an electron microscope, there are dozens of chemical experiments you can perform right in your own home that will confirm the existance of molecular physics.

no more draws in football
As good as it looks on paper, this is a terrible idea. It'll make playing for a draw a viable tactic. This would mean that mediocre teams will end up way higher in the leagues than they should simply by playing with 10 defenders, then subbing in three penalty kick specialists in the 90th minute.

- The Dreamweb - my first attempt at fiction in English
There's food being produced, it's just not very nutritional. It's not an actual famine, but the general population, especially the poorer sections, are slowly being weakened by it.- Ever been in a Car Accident? Post your stories.
Once I was driving my bike down the road pretty fast to get home because I was in a hurry (25+ kph), when a kid in one of the cars that was parked by the roadside decided to throw his door open without looking for oncoming traffic. I slammed into it, folding it neatly into the front door. I got launched out of my seat, flipped over in mid-air and landed on my back on the road. My front wheel was bent up pretty bad, but the car was in a lot worse shape...- Favourite line of a song
