I was given a family heirloom.

Featured Replies

So, you're probably thinking, whats so special about that?

Well, its because it's not a heirloom from my family. My friend, gave me a necklace that has a ring on it, which I know has been in her family for a very long time. I don't really know what it means, because you don't really just give your friend, no matter how close, a family heirloom. Or do you?

I don't really know what to think, but it's very special atleast.

What do you think it means?

She loves you and trusts you.

or is it deeper than that...

Could be an evil family heirloom that is magical and will lead on a quest of some description and a journey of epic self discovery and earth shattering battles!!

Does her family know? She really should save it for her children and keep passing it on down the lines...not saying your not special or anything but its a FAMILY heirloom for a reason.

*sniff* Is that LOVE I smell in the air?

Oh wait, that was Bubsa sweating :-X

I think you should give it back to her, even if her family knows it isn't right to give away a family heirloom, and if they don't take it back throw it into their window or something \'

But, I couldn't say no. Because then she'd think that it wasn't 'good' enough for me.

Looks at his sig... :-w

Most of us might conclude she loves you.

My question is: Do you love her back?

Keep it and treasure it. But be ready to give it back because it's likely to happen.

Do you speak English?

If it was me in this situation, I would first make sure it was okay with her parents. Then, I'd probably wear it around my neck every day.

I think she either loves you as more than a friend, or just loves you a lot. I would take it as her telling you how much she loves and cares for you, and how much she can trust you.

Make sure to care for it and to note on what this gift is saying about you.

I'd say you thought it over and want to give it back not because you don't want it, but explain to her how much more sentimental it should be to her and that you've reconsidered, thought it over, and decided that it should stay in her family, not yours.

Yes.

She probably didn't want to go out and buy a necklace or she couldn't afford one. (I don't know, just guessing)

Well, if you know her parents well, then I would I would go talk with them with out her knowing some how and then confront them about what she gave you to make sure its okay and their thoughts on any reasons she gave it to you. And if it is, I would wear it everyday to show that you care she gave that too you.

Keep it but DONT!!! lose it, keep it safe.

If you ever break-up with them just give it back

Now this is what you have to do.

Sell the heirloom on Ebay.

Then tell her that you sold it and that you used the money to buy meaningless commodity, you also have to remember to video her response with hidden cameras. If it is funny upload the video to youtube.

Then a couple of days latter tell her about the video on youtube and show it to her. You also have to video her response to the video on youtube. Obviously you would have to upload the new video.

All the more reason to give it back then. Just explain that you cannot accept it as it was a family heirloom, she needs to save it to pass it on to her future children just like it was intended...unless of course it was just some story she made up to make you feel special/ to get you to like her more ???
