Just a thought I had about the quest cape...

Featured Replies

quest cape is not hard to get, just tedious, troublesome and extremely time consuming. However, to get it solely without guides is then deemed respectable

you could say this about all of the acheivement capes tbh...

after learning the best way to train (very easy with the amount of guides now), the only difference to quests is that skills take a hell of a lot more time and tediousness, require ample money to do effectively, and require little thought once you get going.

there are a few excpetions such as slayer however, but after the first 4 or 5 similar slayer tasks, you can work it out from there

unfortunately, there is no way of showing those who use quest guides and the newer faster methods of training (pc for example); compared to the people who got 99 in rsc or finished quests with no help.

if there was a way to prove if you HAD completed quests like desert treasure or mourning ends on ya own (including me \' ), id say the quest cape would mean so much more than just being prepared to click-point-click-point youre way to 99

and there are already thousand quests!
You're over-exaggerating.. Currently there are probably only near 100 quests in the game

There are well over 100 quests in the game, Recipe for Disaster is a quest to celebrate the 100th quest to be released on RS, hence its sheer size and rewards. And RFD came out for a long time now.

Recently level 99 skills have been becoming easier to obtain...

You sure about that? 99 wc isn't easy for me to obtain...

i think he means some skills are easier to skill. combat in particular (pest control), and cooking for a less new example (cook-x)

and wc is getting a little easier compared to last year

the improved drag axe and the lumberjack outfit for example

I definitely agree with you. When I look at my QP(120 #-o ) I definitely feel like I have a better chance of getting a skill cape first.

Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.

Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?

time alone is not the only matter. Cooking is very repetitive while quests are acctually enjoyable. That can make all the difference

Everyone may not find quests very enjoyable (Trust me I know quite a few). Some people may find cooking very relaxing, some people may hate it to death.

Everyone is different.

And still, you see a huge amount of people with a quest cape. Not sure, but it may be the most common, if not it's probably cooking or fletching.

Dragon Drops: D spear x 2, D skirt, D half-shield, D axe, D 2h

Barrows Rewards: Ahrims hood, Karil's Coif, half key x 6, D med, torags legs, veracs flail

Think about difficulty differently for a moment and it does become one of the hardest capes to get.

As some examples Fletching is mostly clicking while on the spot, Cooking involves slightly more movement, Agility clicking one obstacle to the next, Woodcutting is clicking trees, Fishing is clicking fishing spots.

Obviously it's not THAT simple, theres randoms and banking etc but they aren't 'difficult' tasks.

Quests involve moving around the map to many extents, gathering items (arguably this happens for skills but they can be in bulk and usually pretty easy to obtain), solving puzzles, fighting monsters, etc. Even following guides you have to read part then do it in-game and some things a guide can barely help you with, the tar and coal thing in Regicide, how many of you tried that a few times, the hand holds in ME2 or forgetting an item, nothing can hold back that frustration many players have had over those.

I just think with the availability of quest guides and the ease of 90% of the quests it doesn't quite match up with a skill cape. Im sure people do quests without guides that's pretty obvious. I would say 80% use guides though and of course if asked they would probably say they didnt. It almost reminds me of the amount of supposed people who played RS classic that post here. With skill capes you either put the time and effort in or you don't, again the quest cape is a great achievement but I would feel comfortable betting more have it than a skill cape.

124, and Jagex releases a hard one ever 25 so I'm kinda anxious for #125...

Imo the quest cape is still the easiest because it's fun to get, unlike every other cape.

Retired

2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

The Quest cape is just a measure of how much time you love to waste on pointless things.

Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON

If the quest cape becomes harder to obtain, that depends what kinds of quests Jagex is going to add. Jagex seems to enjoy adding mid-lvl pointless quests right now, if that continues, don't hope for the quest cape to be some sort of better achievement than the other lvl 99 skillcapes. We need something like a quest with lvl 80+ specs in certain skills.

2480+ total

i got my quest cape because im nowhere near 99 in anything except strength and i love how it looks (in looks and emote) and i love quests too so i dont mind doing new ones

runescape requires a lot of skills, napoleon dynamyte would love this game

i am the proud owner of the quest point cape; all quests done 12/04/06

when i see a quest cape i just assume , hes either a lazy lil bastard or is to cheap to splurge on a real 99 cooking and fletching barely compete for worse capes they all suck dont get any of the above ^^^^

I'm not saying that all people enjoy doing quests more than skills so for everyone quests point cape is easier, I'm trying to explain the whole "quests take a long, long time so it's hard to get" idea and why it's wrong. Furthermore, I simply stated that it can make all the difference, not that it will.

W/ guides it's easy...

I had quite a hard time on that silly demon from monkey madness. Used my last shark in my inventory before that one died. I found that quest quite hard. Also the puzzle, which many of us hate! (except me) is something you have to do without guides. You have to learn for yourself how to do it.

My mother showed me once how I should make such a puzzle on a treasure trail. 5 days later, I did the MM puzzle all by myself!

Quests are harder then cooking. Fact. Quests are harder then most skills. Fact. Why, because quests require logic sense. Yes, quests can be a lot easier with guides. I often use guides to. But I try (especially now after 190qp) to use them very rare. I try to do it all by myself. Which is quite hard, so I fall back to the guide a lot  . But I train my logic thinking this way. I even solved a riddle from a clue all by myself. Not knowing it, I solved it and I felt proud. This is the same with quests.

Quest capes --> Harder over time and the hardest cape without cape hands down!

Skill capes --> tend to get easier over time. As new ways to train are added. Still, a great cape as it takes time and effort ( A LOT) so a great achievement.

At this moment: skill cape > quest cape. Next year: quest cape > skill cape!

In my opinion :

Say you have 2 lvl 3 p2p just starting the game.

1 focuss on getting a 99 skill

the other focus on the quest cape.

The first one could just wc hes way to 99, most skills should be easy (Except cons farming and slayer, which require alot of knowledge and abilities)

The second one will have to learn basicly EVERYTHING in the game.. training techniques for all skills, go trough all of the often very puzzling quests, easilly getting 1300 + total before he gets the cape.

When you start from scratch, and not from a well established main, quest cape is the hardest of them all.

Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07.

it's a medium cape to get

like thieving, crafting, woodcutting...

but i like the questcape and i have one :)

What all the questers need is a GOOD, HARD, Quest that will make all those noobs with quest cape shriek. I Personally have a quest cape. I done every quest the first day it comes out with no guide. I had the quest cape since the day it came out and I am proud of it being my ONLY cape. We need MEP3, Legends 2 Monkey Madness 2 we need hard quest. Once we get hard quest their will be No middle or low levels with quest cape. Only 90+.

That will be the day I will be happy.

120 odd by my count, that's still a lot of questing.

agreed, and when that day comes i hope the quest cape becomes trimmable, i dont have any 99 skills so i know mine wouldnt be but i dont see why the quest cape should be seen as any less of an acheivement than a 99 cape so much so that it cant be trimmed
