Coupons and Savings

Featured Replies

Let me start off by saying that my family is an ENORMOUS coupon\savings family. We use coupons on nearly everything, and we have countless amounts of canned soups, soda pop, etc, from this stuff.

Our most recent buy is 51 Coke Product drinks at six cents a bottle. :P We have it in our garage right now. We litterly call our basement and garage a 'bunker' since we have so much food.

Does anyone else use coupons this much? :P

I got tons of coupon books, but I mainly save them for here.

What's funny is, we only spend maybe an hour going through ads looking for deals\coupons on sundays. We just get it through the week.

I have a Game loyalty card... that's about the extent of my coupon collecting (if that even counts) ;)

Lmao, I'm the same as Harrington, only used twice and saved ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5...

We don't really use coupons but my mum goes to the cheap stores and buys nearly out of date food. At asda

we will bring maybe like 4-5 coupons out of the 40'ish things we will get, and if will try and go find things we need on sale, but its not like we super-stock on everything, or will rush to the store for a one day sale

I don't think my family has really used coupons in forever.

Only things we use are the ones you get from best buy for using their card. But then again those are worth it.

Grandparents have dozens of them when we go to the commisary at the military base. :o

My parent used to be obsessed. There was even one store that took expired coupons. My dad would come home each day with a truckload full of stuff.

Me doing staff.

My mom is obsessed with saving money. Every Sunday she looks at all the sale papers and coupons looking to save money, even if it's only $.10. She will never buy anything that is not on sale. It can get rediculus at times when she absolutely needs something and she will not buy it if no brands are on sale.

Me personally, I never use coupons. I rather buy the item when I want it instaid of waiting a month for it to go on sale.

The only coupons I use are the $5 Bestbuy coupons when using their rewards card.

Nope, my family doesn't even bother cutting them off.

Sometimes in the post my parents are sent some, but we throw them away :P

Why not use coupons? It saves money. Anyone read the article about the woman in Chicago who plays the coupon game so well that a weeks worth of groceries costs her $10 on average and sometimes can even be to the point where they give her money to take the food away?

Ah coupons, the route of all evil.

Seriously, I'll get these random coupons saying "70% off all pasturised canned tuna!" and I'll be all "Oh hey! What a great deal!" So I'll buy it...then later I'll be in my room thinking, "What the smeg am I going to do with this? I don't even like tuna!" And also be a bit short changed. Had I ignored the coupon, I wouldn't have spent anything.

My silly frail mind, I know, but hey, I'm a silly smeg. My point's legit, I think; coupons - save money on things you'd never buy.

We do that like crazy. My dad's a mailman; during certain holidays, he can find HUGEEEE amounts of $10 off $10 purchases for JCPennys, since they send them in the mail. So we usually spend about $.46 on a bunch of towels, clothes, shoes, and other stuff.

I bet he was pissed off when he got home today, it's canned food collection day :D . My dad (also a mailman) took his vacation week this week specifically to miss that day.

Haha. I know my dad hates that kind of stuff. =/ But I don't remember him saying anything about it, except it was hot as hell.

My mom only uses coupons for stores where it's like x% off your next purchase. Otherwise we pretty much don't use coupons. Coupons are actually a pain in the [wagon] for me.. I work as a cashier and half of them don't work >.

This is how it works.

My family cuts out any useful coupons in the ad, then we MIGHT use them.

Usually it equates to about $3 of coupons every hour of cutting(less than minimum wage).

I don't get it...

My parent's only buy something if they need it, or it's very cheap(% off and coupons included).

Ha when I was living with my aunty her friends used to deliver sample things in peoples letter boxes and instead of delivering them, we'd end up with half a shopping load of free [cabbage].

Eg a whole jar filled with 50 milo packets hahah stinge

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

The sheer randomness of the OT forum never ceases to amaze me :-).

My mother used to be obsessed with coupons, buying nearly out of date food etc. Well, still is, but I don't live with her anymore, so it doesn't bother me anymore. It's what Bubsa said: she bought stuff she'd never buy otherwise, just because of the coupon.

I myself leaf through the booklets from time to time, but before using a coupon, I always ask myself: "Do I really really need this?"

my mom uses them sometimes and she loves sales but i could care less about saving buy it thats wha i say. lol. not always the right answer though.
