As of late, I've been losing a bunch of hair from the front patch on my forehead....It started out with what looked like a slash where hair woudn't grow. I thought it was a burn or a razor scar but my dad (who happens to be a physcian) thought it was ringworm...or another type of scalp infection.

At first, I thought i was imagining it but as the months progressed it became pretty obvious that I was losing some hair.....so I told my dad about it and he brings up the whole scalp infection thing after barely glancing at it. He told me they take 3-6mths to clear up and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this kind of thing.......

:uhh: my absolute worst fear is that it could be male pattern baldness.. :ohnoes:

I've had quite the experience going bald. It's not fun :P

:| , I asked if anyone had any experience with scalp infections....the whole balding thing scares me to death *shudders* :wall:

Hopefully you don't go bald, but then again if you did, alot less to worry about.

I've never had experience with scalp infections....=S

hahahah, you're going to be bald before you're 20! hahahaha! Sorry, it's just funny, especially with the "Please NO!!!!" in the topic title. :D And those smilies do add a lot! One of the funiest topics of the year so far.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

Apparently if your mothers father was bald chances are you will be. I'm not sure if thats true but if it is I am safe \'

Hah...I'm 18 and my hair's already receding...

Expand your mind.

Hmm... Is your dad bald? I don't know anything about this, but balding is hereditary, so I'd only worry about it if your male relatives are bald.

Why?

I had a friend that went bald when he was 17. It happens to some folks early, I guess.

I would think you would be more afraid of a scalp infection, because that seems like it would take a lot of painful treatment or something.

There's nothing wrong with being bald, baldy.

A lot of men look great bald. Just shave your whole head and girls will be flocking around you.

I'm a married mother that plays RuneScape. Got a problem with that?

Oh..there was some hidden text in this post. It reads:

"Hitting you with their handbags out of horror, baldy"

I actually read an article today about a guy who shaved all his hair to see what it was like being bald. Apparently there are several perks, being bald makes you look 'ard' so people move out of your way more often in case they get floored.

But there also disadvantages, like women not finding you attractive.

But don't worry, there might be a cure!

:o, is that true? There may be hope for me yet  .

Balding genes cover every nook and cranny of my family on my paternal side, but the men on my maternal side have had much more luck with keeping their hair :-k .

Richard O'Brien, of Crystal Maze and Rocky Horror Show fame, shaves his head twice a day to remain bald, as it: "Feels nice in the shower".

But then again...that's Richard O'Brien. Cult legend, yes. Cultural icon, debatable.

My cousin's husband is bald at 25. Well, kinda. He's got some fluff hanging around up there. Doesn't look too bad. How about when you go prematurly grey? One of my friends (15) has a little grey spot... kinda icky.

But maybe he'll end up like that one guy who won American Idol... haven't seen him around in ages...
