F2P skills - bad money makers?

Featured Replies

Are F2P skills - bad money makers? Is it true? Is it really impossble for F2P to get millions from a single skill?

In my opinion F2P has several really bad skills for money. Of course Runecrafting, mining and smithing can help out in making money, IF you are high leveled. and combined skills are great, but what if you used one skill solely.? I doubt that. What about Cooking or fishing? Feel free to join the discussion.

The clock is ticking, and your time is running out, mortals.

Comparable to P2p, you can't make money as fast with skills. However, you can still do things that make you money over time(such as camp on karamja) and make some cash.

Merchanting on f2p isn't a bad source of income.

the f2p skills don't give that much money, but when you get to mining lvl 70, you can mine addy, mith, coal combi and then you'll be able to make a lot of money and merchanting gives a lot of money too in f2p

Goals: mining 67/70, woodcutting 65/70, smithing 54/60

I totally agree with both of you. It's pretty much impossible to make alot of money with any of the F2P skills if they aren't atleast 70+. The best F2P skills to use for earning cash is mining and smithing, you can't really earn loads of cash with any other of the F2P skills.

But you can always use merchanting in F2P. I have for example made alot more than 10M in total from F2P merchanting in my days. But of course it's much harder to make money in F2P than in P2P. Much because we in F2P don't got as many items as P2P.

Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

Yep, very true.

But, personally, it's easier to make cash from 50 smithing, or even 70 smithing.

Then, you are in da money. But, if you can manage to trade a mem friend coal and mineral ores for bars (and have them use the blast furnace), you can actually tag team a LOTTA cash. Since the blast furnace cuts coal amounts needed in half, it's quite economical to team up like so.

I do this with a friend, btw.

mining is a slow moneymaker unless u have runners or can mine rune ore.

then smithing? good money maker???? NO! its darn expensive to train!

35K xp = 550K gp

combinging those 2 skills = maybe max 100k gp an hour

IF you run on world 16 air altar u make 120K an hour and u need only 25 essence.

rune mining = max 300k an hour

rune rocks pking +- 200-500k an hour (if you dont die)

merching raw materials (so u can pm members to) = +- 200-400k an hour, if lucky much more.

my non member friends are richer as my member friends.

as a non member i have a bankworth of 160M-170M.

you just have to be patient and train/merchant often

It really depends if you are talking about tons of money, like millions a day, or thousands a day.

I have to say level 60 woodcutting is perfect for willows, i can cut about 1k a day if i wanted to and sell them for 30k, which isnt that much. You can spend weeks getting your mining up to 85, then mine runite for 12k an ore...

I get 30$ a day working at a haunted corn ma(i)ze, dressing up and scaring people crapless.

I find that money goes a lot further in f2p as (I've heard) it does in p2p.

Training gear costs 200k plus whatever food you decide to use, while in p2p the best gear costs upwards of 8m.

The primary money-draining f2p skills are smithing and crafting, while p2pers have members have herblore, construction, etc.

I'm not saying making money in f2p is easy for everyone, I'm just saying that we don't necessarily need as much as the p2pers do.

I personally made most of my net worth from merchanting in early rs2 and buying some rares while I still have. When I need small bits of cash, I'll go out pking and get a few rune sets to sell off, or I'll rc a bunch of airs (7x airs is quite handy).

Yes its much harder to get cash from skilling, since our best drop is a rune large.

Members can get 3rd age items, barrows, etc which are worth millions & millions, plus crafting natures can result in a huge amount of cash.

*coughs* fishing wc rc ect. All are good ways to make money. Just way more competetion

Thanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig!

Before becoming a f2p again, I made a good deal of money fishing & merchanting. Now that I'm f2p again, fishing takes way too long, and you can't make money as fast merchanting because of nooby traders just seeing what the items your selling is (What's a rune platebody? #-o ) -lol I got that once....

Anyways, the way I make money now is training combat and selling the drops. I don't have to pay for food because I heal myself with rapid heal.

-Which takes a good deal of time.

relative to p2p, yes f2p skills suck. So what? what would a f2p do with millions? theres really not much they can buy

air running is 60k an hour... rune only 100-200k and rune pk is not even near that... (if you solo pk)

but lvl 77 or higher is alot money...

jwrm22: 4816th > 99 cooking 100% f2p !1172 total! + 140mil in items.

i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined

mining is good, wcing would be if it weren't for the macros, and fishing would be if there was a better fishing spot with bank.

Nothing short of rune mining or high level rcing is going to be great money, but you can make decent money with any number of f2p skills, if you have the patience.

4mu2n3o.jpg

taking a break

Mining are kinda good, you can mine around 1K rune ores each week and thats alot of Mill's..

And Rc are good too..If high lvl, then u can gain cash even by Air running!

Blackboy+600.png

bannerbancocopiadj3.jpg

Having a good pkteam is still the best way to make money in my eyes.

just pk with 2 or 3 friends with decent skills at rr or gds and u ll make over 300K gp an hour.

in good days i get over 3M a day from pking several hours.

offcourse skill in pking is important, and the stats you and your teammates have!

with good teamwork u ll get kills very often.

its my favorite way to make money.

on second place i mine runite. good cash + rather safe when u use scouts to look for rune rocks.

Merchanting is something i dont like to do: unless its merchanting with rares on the forum while i just train stats.

woodcutting i hate the most, slow xp while cutting yews, also slow money.

Smithing isn't bad. I just high alched 560 steel plates and got 675k. Went from 53 to 60 smithing too.

j0xPu5R.png

I used to make money with skills.

I used to make Airs, 669k of them, without runners

and sold 20 each (this was in 2005 - 2006).

This took very long, I also had 85 Mining but I didn't like wilderness. :P

After I got 86 Smithing, I started smithing Rune axes and made money that way.

Then I started Wcing Yews

and burned almost all and cut some more after getting 99 Fm

and after that I started Merchanting

and Merchanting is the way i make money now.

So....Making money in F2p is

not so hard anymore for me.

Runecrafting: Is a good money making

skill for low levels and for them that likes

Runecrafting. (I hate it now)

Mining: Mining Rune is a very good way to

make money if you know how to not get killed

after mining 20+ Rune ores. <.<

Woodcutting: Cutting Yews is probably the Second best skill to

make money (mining Rune is the best), if you can't mine

Rune then this is the best, I can make 180k+ per hour

if I sell for 300 Each.

Smithing: You lose money until level 85

(If you buy all your ores/bars), when you get 85

you can make money by buying Rune ores, Coal and Nature runes

and make bars then sell the bars.

Get your own materials if you want to make alot of money with this skill.

Merchanting: Merchanting is a pretty good money making method.

I don't know how much I make per hour but I used to make

1M-2M+ per day, merchanting yews. Now I don't merchant much.

Full-time merchanting is the best way to make money in F2p IMO.

F2p skills are not bad money makers,

you just have to train them pretty high and

you got to know how to do it,

just because you have 85 Mining dosen't mean that you make millions.

F2p For Life!

Grasp the chance to cut loads of yews. Im pretty sure they will rise with the banning of the autoers.
