June 8, 200719 yr If this is in the wrong place please tell me and i'll move it - thanks Are you addicted to runescape? I sure was. :x This is basically my runescape life and how the addiction affected me. I know most of you aren̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t like this but I know there are some people out there who let runescape affect them as much as it affected me. Back in 2003 I started runescape and playing with real life friends doing what newbs do. After around a year they all left and it was just me left playing it at this stage I was addicted to the huge amount of actives you could do and the fact that while you play you are continuously improving. One of the main things that drew me into runescape was the money and the huge market. I soon found myself doing tasks that could rake in money Nat running and merching where the main forms of money making for me. While merching I came across many scammers... this tempted me scamming people for money seemed so easy. Luckily I had a conscience and couldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t do it so I just carried on making money my normal ways. By this stage I was playing runescape around 4hours a day, I would get home from school play with mates until 5ish then spend around 4 hours on runescape. As I became more addicted the amount of time I was playing runescape rose and rose until finally I was playing runescape all of my spare time. I would visit all the help sites (including this one) and I would look at how people made all their 100's of millions. Then the worse thing possible happened - I came across runescape staking. I noticed how instead of running natures for 10hours for 1million I could simply win it in a stake in under 1minute. I made up an account with a large number of spaces in the name and set up on creating a staker. The name of the staker I used was (p---i-----e). This account was made for defence staking meaning he had high defence (70) high attack (70) and mid strength (30-40). I also made another account called (p--I---e). This account was the opposite of (p---I-----e) and its sole purpose was to trick people. Earlier I mention that I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t like to scam - but the huge amounts of cash that I could make took over my conscience and greed was the only thing in my mind. The way the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åtrick̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
June 8, 200719 yr Thats a good idea of how to make yourself quit. But you could have given it all to me :notalk: GF TIF. 9 November 2006 - 22 January 2008, when I could no longer stand the painted turd that is the Tip.It community. Only posting in rants.
June 8, 200719 yr Well when you loose everything in game, run out of memembers, and two of your very close friends are banned (1 was legit 1 wasn't) you really feel like quitting. Tbfgraphx14Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass.
June 8, 200719 yr That was a nice read and I like most of it. Your comment at the end, why not quit now and save 1000 hours of your life. Here is my opinion: I know someday I will quit runescape, it's inevitable, and like you most of my real life friends have quit as well as a lot of the good friends I met while playing runescape. You don't have to give away all your stuff to quit, but instead this is what I plan to do when the time comes. Buy rares...yep, really that's all you have to do...buy a bunch of rares, and then just quit, cancel your membership and just sell everything so you only have cash, and then buy all the rares you can. That way, if you ever decide to come back, just to visit, or maybe you have a lot of free time coming up, you can come back and experience all the things you missed.
June 8, 200719 yr Author yea.. I have to agree stocking up on rares might of been a good idea - but I wanted to quit for good, i wanted runescape out of my mind. Knowing that I had rares increasing in value would probably make me want to start playing again.
June 8, 200719 yr i quit for 1 month i dont play that much anymore. having a gf really helps you quit/back down. Americans love to fight. All real Americans love the sting of battle. George S. Patton
June 8, 200719 yr I began playing with rl freinds, but they have long quit. When I was addicted I had members played constantly and had cravings. However Isoon discovered the guitar and quit until october '06. I came back played til january and lost interest. I play consistantly now but rarely for more than one hour a day I spend most of my computer time on my clan website, here and msn now.
June 8, 200719 yr i play about 30min a day from 2 hours a day so im not addicted much and if i start gettin addiected i sell all my stuff use it on skills and start again :D
June 8, 200719 yr i put the more important things first. i do all my homework and study for any tests coming up, then go to a friends house to see if they're busy or not. if they're busy, then i no-life rs. i have to though, otherwise i'll never make money  but that is a touching story, but some people just don't want to quit rs. take all those all 99s people for example. that takes 2 or more years, and they're still playing. they just don't want to quit because it's still fun. if you find rs still fun, you should play it. ok, time to use some random emotes that are never used. =; :^o O:) =P~ :uhh: :-# :-$ :boohoo: =D>
June 8, 200719 yr I would only quit if I got banned so if I am nice I'll never quit :D Computers will never be above humans because we made them. That's what monkeys used to say about us.
June 8, 200719 yr I would only quit if I got banned so if I am nice I'll never quit :D :XD: trust me someday you're gonna get bored. oh wait, that was just my non member account 2 years ago
June 8, 200719 yr That's a great way to ensure you stop playing, if that's what kept you. For most people it is. For some people they might just consider it a small habit that they turn to when they have nothing to do, but when you play it for so many hours a day, it's really more than a habit. It's funny you just wrote this now, because on runehead I wrote an article about addictions
June 8, 200719 yr When I was addicted: I played 10 hours a day during the Summer. I shunned my parents. I had a few friends, but sadly, they were RS addicts too. (Some normal :P ) Now: I play 2-3 hours a day on the PC, which is 1/3 of my time at home. I chat with friends and my GF :) , and play CS, which leaves me content after an hour of it. I have tons of friends, who I hang out with on a daily basis, and I couldn't be happier with life. Although my grades are fine, A's and 2 B's this semester. :|
June 8, 200719 yr Runescape is part of why I don't have a girlfriend in real life :| but I know that when I do decide to spill some game I will quit Runescape and only play if I got some friend time. I did infact "quit" for 3 months and that's because I had no internet but meh I always wanted to go back on so I'm addicted but I don't wanna do therapy but I might in the future. I am Teh_King[My dA][My Last.FM][My Twitter]
June 8, 200719 yr I don't consider my self to be an addict. I play about 2-3 hours a day but now going for 99 fishing  .....I plan on playing 4-6 hours a day. #-o
June 8, 200719 yr Luckily, my best friend plays rs so we have lots of fun. Rooming next year at college. Harvest Moon Gameboy King
June 8, 200719 yr i can manage my runescape time properly and not be addicted in which case i hardly socialise on rs i normally do the fastest exp wise training as such so i find i could play forever at around about 10 hours a week or something :-k if your addicted i wouldn't be so ashamed \ Ex-Wilderness GuardianEx-Solace Retired from F2P clans indefinitely
June 8, 200719 yr i rarely go on now.. its like every 15-30 days for 5 mins to talk to people when i am bored to death, but since December i haven't really played except a few days ago. June 8, 200719 yr Balanced life is the key  Quoted for truth. is there a quoted for truth trend going on around TIF?
June 8, 200719 yr I don't all it addiction, I call it enjoyment The only reason I play this game for hours straight is because it's time consuming at higher levels. You can't get a lot accomplished in an hour once your levels get quite high. I'm sure some people can but they won't enjoy the game as much. ^^ClicK^^"I backed my car into a cop car the other dayWell he just drove off sometimes life's ok...Alright already we'll all float onAlright don't worry we'll all float on" - Isaac BrockDays Hunting:4 - Kingly Imps Caught:2Money Earned: 4.5-5m
