July 3, 200719 yr I suppose it varies from person to person, it's a mentality. But I'll say 14 so I can be considered an adult! :P :P :P
July 3, 200719 yr It really depends on what you think makes someone an adult; You could become an adult at whatever age you are when you mature and have enough intelligence to make rational decisions, or when you are *ahem* sexually mature, IE: 13-14+, or when your body has stopped growing, and you are stable, around 18-22, or maybe even after you have done some sort of ritual test to determine if you are an adult. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
July 3, 200719 yr When you get your first pubic hair. Guys, laugh please. I made a joke. I don't really know when you're an adult. I'd say something like when you're able to take care of your own business. Spread your wings, that kind of stuff. But then again, I consider myself and adult, and I still live with my parents. Hm, I don't know. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
July 3, 200719 yr When you get your first pubic hair. Guys, laugh please. I made a joke. Oh, you said...oh ahahaha! Oh, rip roaring fun, old bean! Bravo! :P OK, really, I need that ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã50 by Friday. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
July 3, 200719 yr Here in the UK at 16 you can drive an insanely heavy tractor one year earlier that you can be to drive a car I attempted to launch a fart, only to have it get stuck between my cheeks.
July 3, 200719 yr In Scotland (which has slightly different laws from the rest of the UK), you are allowed to marry at 16, which I guess means you're officially an adult. You can get married in all the UK at 16, but you need the permission of all parents of the two partners Aye, it's something like 13 with no permission in that chapel in scotland, something green I think it's called. people run away there to marry :)
July 3, 200719 yr Some people are 16, have good maturity, intelligence, knowledge, and some people are 21 and are dummies who spend their time partying and skipping class. There's no goddam adult age, everyone's different. 2480+ total
July 3, 200719 yr If you resort to using legality to confirm adulthood you don't have a really firm argument. You're an adult when you're mature enough to realize certain things, and act a certain way. To certain people that means different things. In certain societies it can be vastly different, as technology and the general stupidity of politics have numbed people from things that really matter. Black as midnight, Black as pitch, Blacker than the foulest Witch.
July 4, 200719 yr adulthood is a state of maturity and responsibility imo, not an age. I fully agree. There are some 21 year olds who don't have the responsibility to handle drinking but their are some 13 year olds who could do just fine. Usually, maturity comes with age but not always.
July 4, 200719 yr I don't get what all the fuss is about. Why so keen on being an adult? It's not that much fun :?. People don't go from immature to mature in one day either. It's perfectly possible to be mature on one level and immature on another. Many people manage to never fully mature, even when they're 60. I think they might be right too.
July 4, 200719 yr 20. Pre-adolecent - teenager - adult.. Much? Lol at adult at 16. adulthood is a state of maturity and responsibility imo, not an age. I fully agree. There are some 21 year olds who don't have the responsibility to handle drinking but their are some 13 year olds who could do just fine. Usually, maturity comes with age but not always. It is often agreed that whether one is an adult should be defined by the person's maturity, rather than their age. However, if adulthood could only be defined in terms of age, what should it be? Yeah? I agree with Sumpta, I can be very mature on one level, but on the other, I'll give a five year old a run for their money.
July 4, 200719 yr 21: can legally drink in the United States; can purchase additional restricted goods Not for the whole i can buy liquor thing. But because of how we grow mentally. We learn from our past mistakes, and im shure there are plenty of mistakes to be made at 21 too. I just feel that by then you have sufficient experience in life to act and contribute to society in a positive manner. \
