anonymous1234
i love to pick up gems. think about it: if you keep 1 sapphire and turn it into a sapphire bracelet (forgot proper name) then later on when you mine clay it will be faster because you don't need to wet it
Lord_Omar_Iv
uncut sapphire = 500gp > lucky to find 1 coal =200 gp... hmmm i think our runescape players are pretty dumb at math it would be in better interest to keep that 1 gem and sell it later when u have a small bulk of gems from mining than to drop it because u want coal to sell. people just dont know their economics
Sam
Auto's normally drop these, cause they need to mine that like 1 gazillion coal. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Danqazmlp
I'll usually pick up any gems i see apart from saphires (all i ever made them into were games necklaces, with 20+ of them i dont think i'll use them all in a hurry) I desperately need emeralds, forever running out of them. n64jive
whats the point in even arguing...Some people don't bother wasting there time with gems. I know i'm guilty of dropping them when I was down there. Of course, I havn't been down there for a couple years, but when I was, I would drop saphires and emeralds and only keep ruby's and diamonds. NJE03
Whether from randoms, while mining, or from drops I ALWAYS drop any gems I get. I simply do not have any room in my bank for them. darkpoet837
I keep all gems for bolt tips. Even if I am superheating mith bars, i still take the time to keep all gems. Kevin_
I normally never pick up gems, but since the new bolts came out i've been picking up all diamonds lately. Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.
Randox
Cause we mining coal wouldn't you rather have an extra coal than some stupid gem? No; I use teleport jewlery quite extensivly (mostly ring of dueling, games necklace, and sometimes the digsite ammulet) to save on law runes when I can. I've never had to buy a gem once, I stocked up during my years of f2p :) When I see a gem, I jump on it liek a sqirrel would on the last penut on earth. I don't care if the market value for coal is higher than that of a gem, the value to me is far far superior and I would like to thank all you people who drop jems for saving me over 100k in teleport jewlery

Doing clues can take quite a stab at your laws, and all teleportation jewlery helps quite a bit. rareghoul1
the first time i became member i saw gems on the ground all over the place. i thought "is this a member feature i never knew about?" so i picked them up. and cut them. so far i've collected 1k gems since i've became member, but i have about 150 at the moment. it's a shame all those gems go to waste. some of them get picked up by the 2 minute monster and are ever seen again. rareghoul1
i throw away saphires and emeralds for extra space for some coal it's funny, in the f2p market, all uncut f2p gems are worth more than a single piece of coal. unless you don't sell your coal of course... that would make sense. I think Ive kept ever gem I ever got from mining... : although your crafting isn't that high yeah, i can imagine you didn't get it by cutting gems. the dropped gems are good for making jewelry or bolts, cutting really doesn't give much xp. i have about 150 cut gems stockpiled, the cutting got me from 47 to 48, the crafting into jewelry will probably get me to 50. vietlapine
I drop my gems too. If I need them I can get them easily in the rogues den by safe cracking for a few minutes. Due to the easy availability of gems generally, I prefer to keep my inv space for ores. Sapphires dont have that much intrinsic worth to me so I dont bother keeping them (dont use for crafting or fletching, rather have the bankspace for something else). When combat training, I often bring a chisel, cut them and then drop them again as I would rather have the space for those valuable herbs (I now drop harralanders and below too). Well p2p has easier access to gems..to me..gems are very worth the space for the crafting and making them into jewrley and selling them.

Sharane
I've gathered over 200-300 emeralds and sapphires from people that drop these, so I humbly thank you for your carelessness. =) "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin.
