Berrakus
It's very easy for the other person to switch because you are using your calculator to determine the price. I'm always buying hides, and I had someone try this one me, but fortunately I always do a double-check anyway that spoils this scam. After the other person puts up their hides, I use my calculator to determine the price. When I get to the second screen, I divide the amount on the calculator by the amount of hides listed on the screen. If the result is not the selling price, I either made a math mistake or he is a scammer. Either way I decline. Moonshadow
Posting scams makes people want to do them. This should be deleted. That's why when the team scam was posted on RSOF you now see idoits trying to scam you and then log on highly popluated worlds. It also makes people aware of the scam. Less people might fall for it now.

ubahman
I fell for this when buying raw lobs. he change 9822 to 9282. Good thing he was a bad scammer and sold them for 200 each :XD: It's easier to fall for because you don't notice the number change too well. Just look carefully and trade people who don't know prices :P. 99/99 Cooking. 1500+ total level. 96+ Combat
silver24-7
They won't do that :P. They only have 1911 hides with them, to avoid that. I know that because I saw them banking after every trade. They just profit from the time you take calculating. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with avoiding the risk of doing that. To change the 1911 into 1191 they use remove X and type 720 If they'd mistaken when typing the amount to remove they could neevr end up with more hides then they had initially put in. So no, they are not bringing less hides to avoid accidentally turning it into 9111 I'm Finally 99 mage ^^ (and cooking...) :PSilver24-7 -

Robot919
I get suspicious when I accept the first trade screen and the person automatically accepts the second trade screen and goes "Common, accept already!!!!" I ALWAYS check the second trade screen carefully, who cares if it wastes time, I don't want to be scammed.

Joined: 21 Mar 2007 i love the way newbies like you come here to comment on someone being a ''copycat''. Thehate has been a part of the tip.it(most likely even scapeboard) community for a very long time, and would you really believe someone having a fake account here for him for more than 3 years? this is quite an important thread to be hounest, i've never thought about it, and realise ill have to be more careful for now on. Azurechaos
Scams like this are the kinds that might get me. I will notice if you completely remove an item, but this sneaky changeup would work, I'm sad to report. :( Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out for this now. :) 99 Firemaking | 99 Mage | 99 Range | 99 Hitpoints | 99 Strength | 99 Attack

JoshThaGod
I don't think this scam is well-known, but if it is, feel free to lock or move this. Beware.. Let's say you want some nice Green D'hides, just to train your Crafting a bit higher. You hop to w2, and after a few tries you enter Falador World 2. You begin to yell: white: Buying all Green D'hide 1.52k ea - .... After a while, someone trades you. He puts up 1911 Green D'hides, and you calculate how much you should pay. You put up the money, and accepts. If you were lucky, you would have noticed he changed 1911 in 1191. I don't know how long this scam is going on, but is very much-used in World 2. Why 1911 and 1199? This is the most profit they can make, because they 'win' 720 hides. If they would do 1811 or something, they would make less profit. Same goes with 2922 or so. Just to inform you. i wasnt aware of this one! hmm, sneaky punks, thanks for posting. another one people like doing is *Buying _____________(Rare)_____________ For (Whatever its worth)* but heres the problem, they try and trade you an item that someone is supposidly buying for a redicioulous ammount. like some dude was "Buying" xmas hat for 23mill cash, he throws up an ancient mace or somthin not even worth 100k but there is someone right next to you guys saying *Buying ancient mace 30mill! CASH* so basically they lead u into beliving u could trade ur rare for this P.O.S to sell to the other guy who is not really buying it but misleading you so you lose you rare for squat. i didnt know what a anchient mace was but i thought about it before i clicked accept and i was like *No way, scam*... thank god i realized that :-X Controversy and Chaos!!! Cabbage_Boii
Funny if they did it wrong. Changed it from 1911 to 9111, they'd be down 7.2k hides  I'd make a horrible scammer, I'd do things like that the whole time, swapping veracs skirt for another helm. Then with the "dual" scam I'd have someone buying a warrior ring for 3M then me selling a whip for a warrior #-o lol thanks for making me lol irl. hmm thanks for telling the scam...i dont craft personally but thanks :P Let your yellow mellow. What I do when I'm buying somehting... Take the price I want to pay each, times it buy the amount they have, in my calculator. Then on the second screen, I divide the answer by the price I want to pay. If this doesn't come out to the amount shown on the screen, I know it's a scam. Just a simple way to prevent this. \ In Soviet Russia, glass eats OTers. Alansson Alansson, woo woo woo! Pink owns yes, just like you!GOOOOOOOOOO ALAN! WOO! Blingkachi50
Don't know if anyone has posted this but scammers do this same thing with whips. They'll say "buying whip 1.71m" which is quite a good deal but then they'll decline and say something along the lines of "lagg" trade you again and offer 1.17m instead of the original 1.71m. Harrington
Thanks for the headsup.... I usually take my time on the second screen and typically buy round amounts anyway, so to my knowledge I haven't been hit by this yet lol. Then again, I'd never know if I had would I?
