Green Dragonhides scam

Featured Replies

I don't think this scam is well-known, but if it is, feel free to lock or move this.

Beware..

Let's say you want some nice Green D'hides, just to train your Crafting a bit higher. You hop to w2, and after a few tries you enter Falador World 2. You begin to yell: white: Buying all Green D'hide 1.52k ea - ....

After a while, someone trades you. He puts up 1911 Green D'hides, and you calculate how much you should pay. You put up the money, and accepts. If you were lucky, you would have noticed he changed 1911 in 1191. I don't know how long this scam is going on, but is very much-used in World 2.

Why 1911 and 1199? This is the most profit they can make, because they 'win' 720 hides. If they would do 1811 or something, they would make less profit. Same goes with 2922 or so.

Just to inform you.

this seems to actually be pretty new scam of what i remember, only heard of it first bit ago myself... even though it should always have been very possible, perhaps scammers community has simply gotten the catch of it...

hmm, thanks for the info, might save me some money someday. :-k

nudist hippy vegan elves who inexplicably wear leather.

Funny if they did it wrong.

Changed it from 1911 to 9111, they'd be down 7.2k hides

I'd make a horrible scammer, I'd do things like that the whole time, swapping veracs skirt for another helm. Then with the "dual" scam I'd have someone buying a warrior ring for 3M then me selling a whip for a warrior #-o

Funny if they did it wrong.

i dont think they'd risk bringing that much though. funny if it actually happened.

They won't do that :P. They only have 1911 hides with them, to avoid that. I know that because I saw them banking after every trade.

They just profit from the time you take calculating.

That sounds scary!

My sister is partially dyslexic, I showed her this and she couldn't see the difference even when I showed her, which is worrying, because it means people like her will may easily fall for such a trick. :ohnoes:

you got a point... maybe make a suggestion on the rsof about making it bigger and the numbers further from each other so people who are dyslexic can see the numbers better

First time saw scams like that many months ago.

That's why you're on the TZDF blackdawn. Even your balls can tear zombies to shreds.

Yeah, I guess this would work with everything. But I guess hides, pure ess, anything stackable bought in moderately large amounts works best.

That's why when the team scam was posted on RSOF you now see idoits trying to scam you and then log on highly popluated worlds.

I rather have a few scammers more, and many, many people getting less scammed then the same amount of scammers but many people getting deceived.

I'll be selling something and if it's like 1.7 mil, they'll put up 1711k and then subtract like 620k and end up with 1171K

Whip drops: 9

Abyssal head drops: 3

1k increments ftw.

I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete.
So, what is 1.111... equal to?

10/9.

Please don't continue.

Yeah, that's why you ALWAYS use in 1k increments of stuff, it does a few things

a) it makes it way easier to calculate the prices, so its faster

B) it makes it much harder to swap around like that, and its easier to detect

c) why not?
