I was browsing the rants forums as I often do while woodcutting (YOU try and pay attention to that swinging!) and I saw a lot of rants about how people had lost millions due to some update on the Karamja Gloves... I thought those were only for getting cheaper prices in shops, I don't see how any update on those could cause people to lose money, especially money exceeding 1m. Does anyone know what happened and why so many people lost money?

 

 

 

I feel like I missed out on something here... again... :

People were buying willows long (I think) for 25-35gp each from fletchers. Then they would sold it for 56gp ea with the karamja gloves. Jagex nerfed it without any warning, and dropped the 56gp to 16gp(around that) some people have lost millions.

They bought maple and willow longbows (u) and sold them for pretty much at the charter ships in Birmhaven (116 and 56 ea if I'm correct). But Jagex thought there came too much money that way into the game, so hugely decreased the price.

People invested millions in that cheesy moneymaking technique?

 

 

 

Surely they knew Jagex would change it. Its not in the spirit of the game to make money that easily...

they also lost mony on furies when the gloves first came out... though I'm probably pointing the most useless piece of information in the world.. sozzy :wall:

How did the update effect the prices of selling runes and obby items to make tokkuls? I never did the buy low sell high trick. Mostly just use mine for slayer dude and gem mining.

I personally never used those methods, mainly because I didn't know that you could sell longs (u) for more cash with the gloves.

 

 

 

I wouldn't do it anyway, though. What a bad, non-exp giving way to get cash.

From what I've heard it seems like the clever people knew about this trick, and were abusing the ignorance of other players to earn quick cash. They deserved to loose money, but losing millions? Also Jagex should have announced it, maybe giving a delay so people could hurry and sell their last few bows.

It was a well-kept secret... but when topics like this appear, then the cat is let out of the bag. =D>

You can sell the logs for 80

 

 

 

and you can cut logs into bows (u) and then string them for PROFIT rather than just =ing out.

The only thing that can be nerfed is the notion that you have to level with a certain speed or that you have to make money at a certain speed.

 

 

 

I seriously doubt that less enjoyment will be derived from alching yews at 500gp each instead of 736gp, or whatever it is (haven't done it for a while).

It wasn't an honest way of making money. More like bug abuse and lying to other people since allot said they were going to use the bows for fletching xp but just sold them to a shop.
