Beggers; Do You Help Them?

Featured Replies

ok i made this topic because i see beggers alot...

they walk around asking for hand outs, generally saying they got scammed, or died, or something like that.

my question is, do you ever help them?

do you ever give them advice?

give them money or items?

or just tell them to go away?

earlier i was walking out of lummy and a lv 104 start begging, and wouldnt go away wen i said no, he even proceded to call me a selfish noob -.-

also, should they be helped, in your opinion?

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

If they have decent grammar and spelling then I may offer the advice, but most of the time I ignore them. But I use to give out money to loads of beggers and they did stop begging. They said thanks, and went to play runescape properly.

I wont help a begger....

Their first reflex is to ask for phr33 st00f...... no effort has been made, why should I turn round and help them?

HOWEVER when ever I can I do offer player stuck, or in need of help advice, this can somtimes result in me giving thme free items, but you dont get if you ask. It's a personal rule and I try and stick to it.

It is my view point they helping a begger or giving free items just encorages them, but this is a community game and we should work as a community to help each other.

Sometimes I give players some tools to make some money themselves like an addy or even rune axe but only if they are polite and try to use proper grammar :P

You won't see me hand out cash to strangers tough.

No, everyone starts off equal in this game, and unlike real-life every single players has exactly the same opportunities to have 99 skills/make lots of money/fame or whatever.

Begging on an online game is stupid and immature. No matter what.

calvinandhobbessigedite.png

No because all of those that say they died in wildy/got scammed r lying and just want money because they're lazy selfish noobs who can't make it themselves.

Well, it depends on what they're asking for. If someone asks to be teleported to camelot when im right next to a bank, sure, that's no big deal for me. If they're asking some simple questions, like "Please tell me wheres the nature rune altar" when im in karamja, i'll usually walk them there, or give them some advice. If they're asking for gold or items, i usually just roll my eyes.

Figuring out what to put in my signature just takes too much work.

If your still reading this, your a noob.

lol

The old saying goes "give a hungry man a fish, he will eat for that day. Teach the man how to fish, he will eat for the rest of his life."

I have never given any items to beggars, advice is usually much better. If its any item, its a pickaxe or a hatchet. Any questions i would be happy to answer, but im not that nice that i would walk half way around rs just to show them because they cant teleport. I basically ignore them completely if they are rude or just sad...

No. Simple. Straightforward. Satisfied.

World 8 Varrock West Bank:

Begger: Spare 1k please?

Me: Ok

*Hands 1K to him*

Begger: God bless you!

If I'm in lumbridge I tend to ignore everyone walking around. Other places such as Falador and Varrock I might give out an occasional handful of gp to a random begger that pops up.

I do give advice almost always, most dont even take it. Probably the biggest piece of advice and the most useful that I give 100% of the time is telling players how using proper grammar makes them look more mature and wise

If they refuse to change their ways then I simply ignore them after that and tell them I do not reply to babbling idiots

Never. Begging is stupid. If other people can make it without begging, so can they. They just have to get it on with it, and stop being so dang lazy.

However, if someone asks help, like the route to rellekka, I tell them. If they however ask "plz bring me ther" I won't. People need to learn things themselves.

I will not give a thing to beggers. But if someone needs something and is offering a ridiculous amount for it - like 500gp for a knife - I'll give it to them for free.

Ananke32.png

i just say in all the time you spent begging you could have made 10x as much doing something productive.

Doing a little bit of everything

I did once...

Noob1: Need a free black or mith weapon!

*I give him mith scimmy*

Noob1: ty

Winged Fish: np

Noob1: Need a free black or mith weapon!

How tactless do you have to be to start asking again before your original donor is out of earshot?

Mithdragonsig5.jpg

I ignore 95% of the people that beg or ask stupid questions. When I'm fletching in the Lumbridge cellar a noob has to ask while we're standing there, and then they proceed to beg and ask why they can't go through the hole that leads to the Dorgeshuun cave. And when I give advice they demand that I do the quest with them. This goes for about all situations where someone with a combat level lower than 90 is involved in.

I completely ignore people who beg when I'm doing other stuff (like walking through Varrock  ). The only things I am willing to give advice on are things like 'How did you get your fire cape?'. For some reason people who ask this do not ask for my whip afterwards.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

Never did, never do. Why should I give my stuff to people that I dont even know?

Nocsyn.png

No

Helping them when they beg only makes them believe thats a way to get what they want.

If they have good typing and are polite I'll offer advice on how to get what they are after easily without begging. But never give them items, even with friends I never give if they ask.

If i see people struggling along with what they've got, not a word of moaning or begging and not some spamming noob I often give them stuff.

Like I saw a lvl 40 mining coal near me and got chatting to him and noticed he was using a bronze pick when he could of been using rune. I nipped off to bank got my spare rune pick out traded him and gave it to him.

The best way to ward off a beggar:

"I would, but I just spent all my gp on my *insert name of valuable peice of armor you are wearing*, srry.

Mithdragonsig5.jpg

Hell no. I keep going on my business, usally talking to my friend since most beggars are F2P. It probably drives them more mad, since they know I can listen to them, but I'm just paying attention to other people exept to them.
