What RuneScape has become

I've just recently noticed some 'changes' that have actually been around for a while.

I first came to RS for its playability, fun, medieval 'feel', and all the skills you can level and sort of 'customize' to fit your style.

But now I've noticed something. RS has an economy within itself, and people both notice and care about it. Also, there are things wrong with RuneScape that came inadvertently (autoers, macroers, etc.) and everything is constantly changes, too. There are updates constantly, changing RuneScape itself. It just seems to me that, for myself also, RuneScape has become much more than a game. It's almost like a culture, or even a little society. That's pretty cool I think. :)

last time i checked, runescape is still a game...

With every game, there are going to be people who use cheats (macros)

just so happens that because this is an mmorpg, they get banned. Also because it's an MMORPG, there are people there that you can interact with.

Yayyyyyy...

Runescape hasn't changed; its the same game it always was. The same problems manifest themselves in different forms. The only thing that continues is drama queen, such as yourself, calling attention to themselves with topics such as "The end of Runescape!" or "Taking back Runescape! Noobs vs. Bots!"

You obviously didn't read the post.

I agree but all MMO'd are like this and runescape isn't even the most intensive.

I remember back in 2004 when the economy was controlled by monster drops (d chains). But the economy evolved as does any economy. We are a society to some point. But as someone said it's still a game.

it was controlled by smithing for a long time. A LONG time

There was a time when there were only 3-5 level 99 smithers and a rune 2 hander was the best weapon to use

100 Combat

91 Strength

70 Defense

82 Attack

85 Magic =)

I know it's a game, but I just started realizing that it takes in aspects that, to me, make it more than a game. It teaches things, as much as my parents would argue with that...

It's the fact that it is a society that has screwed this game- The loyal patrons do not want to accept the newer, less mature players into society- and that creates problems. The fact is that newer players simply need to get their act together before World War 3 breaks out \'

+1

Anyway, I agree. I like RS because of how I have friends who play, and we all play casually. People who play WoW (and other games) seem to play so intensively, and I find that it ends up hurting relationships more than building them. Runescape is easy to pick up and play. Honestly, some of the older people are less mature than some of the newer people. Not all of them though...

I just wish some crazy MMO addicts come and take all the people who are not here for the players away ::'

I think it is pretty cool that rs has its own economy...gives some more depth to the game, with "unofficial skills" such as merchanting. Pretty good stuff!

It isn't in the castle, It isn't in the mist, It's a calling of the waters, As they break to show, The new Black Death, With reactors aglow, Do you think your security, Can keep you in purity, You will not shake us off above or below

im agreeing and i think that this is a very good topic to continue,

thanks for starting it,

i remember when starting out in 2005,

the economy was based soley on self made or store bought items

at least for f2p,

now all people do is merchant and skill <.<

i also agree with the fact that WoW-type players play to lvl up and stuff, its forgot about the M part of mmorpg, which ruins the gameplay for others a bit, this hasnt happened on runescape (yet), theres no pressure in rs

:) no pressure, no stress...

Take your time to post on my blog please!

This is nothing. Check out some typing based RPGs (forget what they're called). Those things usually have entire governments that are player based. It's human instint.

Which is why humans are just so gosh darn great! :-k

So what if RS was played entirely by bots/autoers? What would happen then if no one cared about what's beyond the soft, chocolate covering of RS? (I just like chocolate.)
