August 3, 200718 yr i slightly leave the door open when i turn my fan on when i sleep.(its very hot here) and nothing serious happened. i never felt like risking my life over this rumor but i doubt its true.

Koreans (and everyone else that belives this) are stupid. the fan manufacturers are just as much to blame though by putting warnings on and timers which just fuels the myths. August 3, 200718 yr He blames the Korean media for the persistence of the urban legend: Korean reporters are constantly writing inaccurate articles about death by fan, describing these deaths as being caused by the fan. That's why it seems that fan deaths only happen in Korea, when in reality these types of deaths are quite rare. They should have reported the victim's original defects such as heart or lung disease, which are the main cause of death in these cases. If a Western doctor investigated these deaths, he would say what really caused the death, and say that a fan was beside the victim. That's basically my stance on the situation. A friend to all is a friend to none.

EDIT: also how can a fan steal your oxygen? all its doing is circulating your CO2 and O, I fail to see how Asians (stereotypically speaking) are the smartest race but yet...they think a fan will suck your oxygen away like a vortex? o wow.... If I don't, it gets really hot in here really fast because the air conditioning somehow doesn't circulate to my room. :( One time, I was sitting here at my computer, browsing these forums... like I've been known to do from time to time... and one of my fan blades flew off and hit the wall I guess a foot away from my head. :lol: Scared the crap out of me.
