Aneron
To answer the question, I think that someone who would have taken the phat without knowing that he could sell it for real money would be even more likely to do so after learning that. But, I think a blue phat would be hard to sell in one piece. You'd have to sell it for gold and sell that little by little. And for the record, I think that saying [truthfully] you would quite happily steal $2,400 from a person says as much about your character as actually doing it. llamster
Apperently, Jon "NeverDie" Jacobs would. http://blogs.business2.com/business2blog/2007/05/entropia_sells_.html Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:
MrBowser
Hell, Look at it this way. A university student, in his first year, gets a computer. Finds about these cool online games. Tries Runescape. Likes it. Shows it too his faimily on christmas, hears about these Christmas crackers, and gets, oh, say, 40, because he thinks they're fun. Years later, after finishing university, he hears about runescape again, learns about how much his crackers are worth, sells them for real world money, and pays of his student debts, and buys a house. So, in about 1/2 an hour, he made 80000$. The power of investment... That's what it takes to be a hero, a little gemof innocence inside of you that makes you wantto believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end.--Lise Hand
Aresgodowar
well im in college right now and my books cost a but load. so if my parents ever decided to stop giving me money i might seriously consider selling my acc. but i don't really know since ive never needed money that badly. Soma2035
I would feel sprry for someone that bought and then got banned for rl trasing :XD: i wouldn't. Hypothetically speaking, anyone stupid enough to spend $2400 on a party hat should die of starvation so that Darwin survives. >.< Anyways, if someone was to change his party hat to $2400, it wouldn't involve putting "Runescape Blue Party Hat!" on Ebay, it would probably involve selling it in game for near 500M cash, and selling it in 1M, 5M, and 10M increments. At one point I was highly interested in the exchange rates because I made a small amount of cash playing D2 which had no such rules prohibiting item to money exchange. Out of curiousity I checked to see whether Jagex's rule was effective. It wasn't. But another trend I noticed was that the larger the increment of your sale, the less it was worth per million. For example, when I checked, 1M RS Coins was worth approximately $12. A level 100 account with 5M Coins and roughly 10M in items was worth less than $100. Which means if he had sold his items and sold his coins in 1m increments, he would've earned nearly twice as much and still had an empty account, which he could give to a friend or keep for future use. Yes I know this is breaking about a thousand rules but c'mon. If you're quitting Runescape you hardly care anymore about how many rules you're breaking. I'm guessing if you tried to sell a Party Hat outright, you'd have a hard time getting any more than a thousand dollars. Just because hardly anyone wants to risk thousands on a item in a computer game, with no guarantee of you giving it to them, and the fact it's against the rules. Want to learn to Nex? hatebringer
well its against the rules, so in a fair market, it is actually worth only in game money, but people go as far as that have no life, and spend actual money for a game so they are rich in a fantasy game... highlanders
I previously checked out of curiosity, and 4 dollars/m is the highest price. Often, smaller sweatshops who can't afford much publicty have lower prices, lowest I've seen was 3.3 dollars/m. Only around 1500 dollars for that party hat, if you do intelligent rs gold shopping. However, we have to make a distinction, that is the price when you buy the gold. If you were to sell some rs gold on a website, they only offer around 30-40% of the price they sell it for. So if by example, on a website they sell 10m for 37.80 dollars. If you want to sell 10m to them however, they will offer you between 11.34 and 15.12, not very good at all. That party hat's buying price would be 1920, but you would only get around 576 to 768 if you were to sell it, not much. It's a little like when you buy something common like a chair, the re-selling price is a lot lower, it immediately loses it's value when you buy it. Much like when you buy rs gold. That's why buying off gold farming websites is not a good idea. "Professionals" use black market forums to sell and buy Rs gold, at stable, reasonable prices. I don't encourage you to do it, just explaining how buying rs gold off those websites is a stupid idea. 2480+ total

Yes, but how did you get that first paryhat, I wonder? For the general Runescape player, who does not stake, it takes AGES to get enough cash for a Blue Partyhat. I can get anywhere from 1-3 Dark Bows a day and they sell for about 3.5m each. Lets say I get 2 a day and a Blue Partyhat is about 500m. (I haven't checked the price in a while, but lets just make this hypothetical, shall we?) Ok...so, 2 Dark Bows a day. 500M / 3.5M = About 142 Dark Bows. That's 71 Days, or 2 Months, 11 Days...to get a Blue Partyhat. 2,400 Dollars suddenly doesn't become worth it. You can say you can stake to get one, but I can say the opposite. Neither of us truly can put an specific price on one, in other words. Point of it all: Real world trading IS stupid and IS against the rules. |2,300+ Total|138 Combat|12 Lvl 99 Skills|99 Slayer|
