aquariusman
Basically, I've been wondering about something. Do we really exist? I mean, I have no proof that anything/anyone/anywhere I see is even real. For all I know, I could be living in a delusion and all of you are made up figments of my imagination, or those of some other concious beings. I only have proof that I am concious, that I can think, because I am pondering over this question. I have no proof this world exists, no proof any of the scientific laws exist. Also, any evidence that everything is real can just be seen as a figment of imagination. Basically, I'm asking you, "Do our bodies really exist, or are we just random concious lifeforms, wandering through the universe?" The only solution to this question I can see is death. However, delusion or not, this life is too good to give up willingly. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. kelem_ryu
Define "existance". At the very least the idea existst that your body and the world you are living in is real. The question is relevant, because if reality is merely a construct then the questtion arises: "What fuels this construct?" Imo it is fueld by our believes. Our believes in turn are fueld by our perceptions. That way we got a circle. We believe it, because we see it, we see it because we believe it. Considering the first person to ever think of this concept was likely COMPLETELY STONED OUT OF HIS MIND...I don't really think it's a relevant issue... That would be Ren̮̩̉̉ Descartes, a famous french philosopher of the 17th century.

underu2000
MATRIX. Watch it. Well, all that I can be sure of is that I exist, since "I am aware of myself, therefore I am". Everything else is perception. What you want to believe is what exists (to you anyway). Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

crimsonking
There really is no way to know for sure, at least while we still live in this reality. As several others have said, don't dwell on it, whether its real or not its best to just go on acting like it is, because you could be right, but then again you could be wrong as well. ~^v^~Ex-Leader of the Divine Flames of Redemption~^v^~

aquariusman
Tigra, how is it irrelevant just because someone was high? That's like saying guy a drunk guy getting a girl pregnant is an irrelevant excuse for not drinking. Kelem, to me existence is physically being in a certain place and time in the universe, in the form of matter. How can there not be relevance to anything? I'm saying that there is a possibility that none of this may be real, I could be something else in a completely different universe and time, dreaming of dreaming of dreaming of dreaming im in my present state. Does it really matter? I guess not, but it would be good to know, but until I die, I will never know if what I thought I was is a lie, or a dream, or something else. That is where all relevence lies. HOW2PK, at the moment, this matters to me, I know that dwelling on it will almost certainly cost me my insanity, but for a while, I think I will be safe to wonder. P.S. The Dark Lord
I used to wonder about this when I was very little. Even if reality is just created by our minds, how does that make this not real? After all, the world in my dreams are "real." I have all five senses in my dreams. The people in my dreams look real. They feel real. But then again, they are the creation of my mind. That doesn't make them fake to me. Let's say that I went into a comatose state and my mind could only dream. Let's say that it created a Second Life. I may never know that I'm in a hospital bed and suffering from a coma. In my world, I wake up one morning. My room is different. It is elaborately decorated and very beautiful. The warm rays of the sun are shining through a large glass window near my bed. I get dressed, wash my hair, and do the rest of my morning routine and then walk outside. The sky is a beautiful shade of blue and there is not a single cloud. The sun's rays are relaxing my skin. I look at myself and notice that my body is beautiful and perfect. This is an interesting question. How do we know for sure that we aren't really in a hospital bed somewhere and we are suffering from comatose? How do we know that we won't wake up one day in a hospital bed and be surrounded by warm, friendly faces and the people say to us "Welcome home. It's been 20 years."? But I guess it doesn't matter. Even if we were in a permanent comatose state and this was all an elaborate dream, it wouldn't matter. We would never wake up from it anyway. We might as well stop worrying about it and live this life the best we can and see what happens after death. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. Will H
I hate these questions because you can make loads of headway about answering it, but the deeper you go, the more brain numbing it gets, but it's infinitely deep so eventually your brain ends up exploding and messing up the carpet. And we all know how hard it is getting blood out of the carpet. It's just a concept we can never answer. The phrase 'I think, therefore I am' is all good and well, but you can't do anything with it because everything else is perception. :? ~ W ~

Basically, I realize that we are stuck like this and I wont quesiotn it anymore. Also, I only created this thread because I thought I could generate some actual discussion that was the quality of Sere's post.
