The majority of the one's that I've seen have some sort of damage to the screen, just from keeping it in a pants pocket. Most people can't be bothered putting it in a case everything they want to put it away. iPod's aren't any better than most mp3 players anyway. Nothing you can do there about movies though. The simple fact that I like the iPod more then any other mp3 player, is the enormous amount of accesories available for it. I owned a Creative Zen for a while, and I couldn't find a single case to protect it in case I dropped it. Every time I walk into the music section of any store, I see dozens of cases in all different styles, and colors. The amount of accesories available for the iPod dwarfs those of any other competitor. iPods are simple, and easy to use, and for me at least, reliable. As for releasing a new version of iPods, it is inevitable that it will happen in the near future. I just hope that it isn't visually different from the current versions (getting rid of the click wheel etc.), but that it is internally different (bette battery life, more hard-drive space, etc.). There going to be shipped to stores on Wednesday and arrive anytime from Wednesday till Saturday. Theres been a rumored sighting of a full screen ipod somewhere in Asia, the new version of the nano is suppose to be a small little square thing, and the ipod is going to be a heavily moded version of OS 10. I have a tiny Sony mp3 player I bought for 50 pounds and the battery life is 30 hours, more than an i-pod, and the headphones are the best quality of any headphones I've ever used. Sig by me.... It takes me 30 seconds tops to find the exact song I want to listen to on my iPod.... I'm no apple fanboy (quite the opposite really) but my iPod is great. Don't forget the superior video, a la BIG SCREEN. So much easier on the eyes to watch a movie on the Zune than on an iPod.
