Noob-What is it?

Noob-It's a word that is thrown around wayyyyy to much nowadays, it's lost all meaning. Here are sometimes i've heard noob use-

 

-When someone has a lower combat level than another player

 

-When someone has any lower level than another player

 

-When someone doesn't have a certain item

 

-When someone is killed

 

-When someone doesn't have much money

 

-When someone wont't duel or buy/sell an item

 

-When someone isn't wearing the best armour possible

 

-When somone asks a question

 

So what do you think a noob is and when do you stop being one???

Me and my friends use the word as a pun.

 

 

 

When somebody nearly gets a heartattack because he saw something red and white drop from a dusty (me), he's a noob imo :P

The word 'noob' is derived from the word 'newb' short for 'newbie' which means a new player. Basically the word 'noob' is a supposedly offensive word for a new, or idiotic player that knows nothing more than a donkey with half a brain.

Noobs are the unofficial category diferentiating from the viewer persona looking at a particular person a particular way. In basic terms, when someone is lesser than someone else, they can be refered to as "noob" however this can vary from person to person.

 

Eg-

 

To a level 50, level 80's are not noobs, but to level 120's they might be

Some original "definitions" i've picked up over the time.

 

 

 

Newb : A new player

 

Noob : A High level/Experienced Player acting like a Newb

 

(refer above for what a "newb" is)

 

 

 

Nub : a Newer insult taken from "noob" but intended purely as an insult.

 

 

 

Then there was history to things like Froob and Choob, that didn't involve runescape at all.

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion):

 

 

 

1. n00b is player who play some game for for example 1-2 years and still act like newbie, example:

 

 

 

He ask information how to do something, you give to him some website address (because you too busy and have no time to answer in him questions) with guide where all information about it and anyway after it he ask things what are in guide - for example in next day (just he not try to read guides on website);

 

 

 

2. n00b player who ask for stuff and confuse with this other players not trying to make own money and buy what he want (mean n00b is lazy), suggestion:

 

 

 

You got scammed ? just go and collect red spider eggs in some dungeon and sell it or cut some trees (magic if you can) using bronze axe (and easy buy then rune axe).

 

 

 

3. IMHO n00b is who do some things which not require any armor or weapons totally armored & armed just to show how him armor or weapon is cool to others (mining, woodcutting, specially agility training - in this way he just waste him energy).

 

 

 

4. IMHO n00b who ask for some skill level when he really know your skill level and know then he have highter and when you say your skill level then he then say him level - in this way he demoralize other players.

 

 

 

5. IMHO n00b is who think then other player are n00b just because he have highter some skill or combat level or have better stuff ignoring how good this person know game, just i think knowledge and tolerance to others show how good are player.

 

 

 

 

 

I remember one situation i tried to sell on Forums cooked salmons, i writted then they cooked but i think that guy not readed topic information and PM'ed then want to buy, then i changed world to F2P one and teleported from Ape toll to Edge and when we started to trade he said then i writted then i sell raw salmons not cooked and then i are noob.

 

 

 

I just said to him then let he read my message in forum more accurate and then i permanent ignored him, he maked then i feeled bad and i then needed return again to ape toll with very bad humour and feelings.

There is only one terrible use of the word Newb and Noob. That is when you are Reffering to Level.

 

 

 

I know level 120's that are jerks and should just stop playing as they cause too much depression or aggrovation.

 

 

 

I know level 40's that arn't skillers or pures but still they have been playing this game for over 3 years and know more about this game than you do and your whole friends list put together.

 

 

 

You watch someone level 100+ get called a "noob" by a level 110+ because they are higher level and feel superior.

 

 

 

You watch someone run around being called a noob and then ask "what is a noob?" then have everyone say "A noob is someone below the level of 80" then other people will yell "it's below 60" or "nuh uh!, it's below 120"

 

 

 

You watch someone have a great conversation then for their own reason get annoyed or offended and instead of insulting the other person with words or Swear Words(Despite the Censor) they resort to plain "noob" or "Get a life noob".. Although a new one i see every day is "Nerd"

 

 

 

Offtopic: Nerd.. Hah, Goto world 18 and watch Pures fight. Then see someone get lucky with a certain swing or something. And get called a "Nerd" or "You no life so thats y u won" or "Nerd, get a life n stop sucking at pking"...

 

 

 

Does every insult have to contain refernce to a Mother, "Nerd", Someones Life style, Someones Playing style or being a "Newb/Noob"...?

Your forgot most of the most common instances when someone says noob.

 

 

 

When someone has a higher level than you, call them a noob

 

When someone isn't obeying "your rules", call them a noob

 

When someone is better than you and it pisses you off, call them a noob

 

If someone doesn't let you scam them, call them a noob

 

If someone kills you in the wilderness (should be a bannable offense!), call them a noob.

 

 

 

Feel free to make it stupid noob, dumb noob, noobity noob, nub, n00b, or anything else with the word noob.

The term "noob" is merely a thoughtless and ineffective insult, in which is used particularly by intellectually challenged morons who can't come up with anything else to say (as they have little to no vocabulary whatsoever). If I'm ever called a noob I simply hurl a complex word at the culprit; they're immediately lost in perplexity.
