Does your school have this?

Grumbling about not being able to play games in school seems to me to be totally spoilt behaviour, there are kids all over the world who'd give an arm and a leg for the kind of education you can get, and you're grumbling because of what? No games during school? Right.

I'm sorry assassin but that argument and every variation of it is an incredibly stupid weak and illogical argument. I can use that argument in different situations as a last ditch effort to defend any manner of rediculous laws, watch.

All computers with the internet must have mandatory government censorship of porn, Ebay and amazon. A lot of people don't even have internet acsess so stop grumbling.

All video games that are not rated E will be banned. Don't complain just be grateful that you even HAVE video games unlike some countries.

All cars must now be painted with a hideous brown color. Some people would give an arm and a leg just to have ANY car so stop moaning.

Year: 1774. The price of tea has shot up significantly because of British tax laws. Some people can't get tea at ANY price so stop moaning about it.

Or we can even try

All students are required to write a 10 page essay every week, be grateful about this wonderful education we are forcing you to recieve since some people you have never met don't have the oppotunity to get such a fine education. (and even if you do write this 10 page essay a week they still won't get this fine education).

strawman much?

His point still stands. The fact that kids think that they have the right to play games durring school is just bleh, especially since it harms others, considering the way high schools work.

No, no, he's right. I was going to make the exact point myself, but I got a little lazy/didn't feel a need to. After all, assassin's point is still correct, he just argued it incorrectly is all.

[*err, strawman...? I know what it is, but I don't see it in his post]

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

He exaggerated assassins point incredibly. Perhaps assassin argued it incorrectly but it was still a strawman.

He wasn't exaggerating assassin's points, he was giving hypothetical counterexamples, all of which were effective. Still don't see the strawman.

Why bring up in kids in 3rd world countries anyway.

Ok if I'm done with my work I will gladly let some 3rd world kid come in and use my computer to get an education. What's that, you're telling me that there aren't any 3rd world kids waiting in line to use my computer, that there is no way they can use my computer short of moving here? Oh well then may I play games?

Honestly if you do the work early (and do a good job) why not have fun? It's a lot like talking to your classmates in any other class (although in this case you won't be making any noise).

If you're worried about kids dumbing down the curriculum then you can set a minimum class average you need to play games.

They could connect to your computer over the internet from their computer - oh wait a second... :P

They didn't have that at my school when I took a computer class. Everyone played games and just switched programs when they saw the reflection of the teacher on their monitors.

Yep, my school can track programs, lock screens, overtake other computers so that you see what's on their screen (this is so they can do demonstrations for how to use certain programs), block websites instantly and remember what programs/websites you have been on recently. Our old IT dept. main teacher was the IT definition of evil. But it was fun hacking the system sometimes such as using 'Help and Support' and searching whatever you want, changing bits here and there.

It was fun when my friend hacked the admin codes and turned me temporarily into an admin so I could do whatever I wanted.

My school has Websense filter.

It blocks EVERYTHING. No exagguration, it actually does block everything. The only site it doesnt block, is Google. Thats it.

What's the point in having Google unblocked? It's a search engine. It finds sites for you. But if those site are blocked, it's worthless.

As Nadril has pointed out, that's a strawman.

I probably didn't phrase it well enough, but my point wasn't that service x isn't obtainable in an LEDC therefore service x should be used at all times to the nth degree. Rather, that the explicit premise of going to school is to work, learn and get a good education. Grumbling when you are pushed towards actually carrying out this premise is what I was knocking. Not the fact that he should be grateful for any education no matter how harsh becuase it isn't obtainable in an LEDC. Obviously if he was being abused by his teacher I wouldn't say, "don't grumble, at least he's teaching you" because that's not the idea or design of a school.

Those counter-points you used were completely different. There is no specific intention for personal internet use, no intention or premise behind car colour, playing video games or the price of tea.

In short, you go to school to work, not play games, and he shouldn't be able to expect otherwise.

Ah good. I hear that line used a lot, and it gets pretty annoying, but now I see that your point was different :P .

Yeah, re-reading what I said originally I can see it sounds pretty patronising and naive, but hopefully it's a bit clearer now.

On your computer, at school, go on http://www.spiceworks.com and download the program. Set it all up (Before class starts or before the teacher gets there). Scan your network with the program and take over his computer.

I do it all the time, except I take over other kids computers. Since all my classes are computer classes, I get to do it all day. The program basically logs him out and makes his computer look like it shut off. Then you can see what he is doing and mess around with it. Maybe even change your grade real quick ;)

I usually close out of people's programs (Like if they are on their Myspace or playing games). Once this girl got called out of the classroom, so I got on her computer and messed around with her myspace like posting bulletins, sending messages, etc.

My school has Websense filter.

It blocks EVERYTHING. No exagguration, it actually does block everything. The only site it doesnt block, is Google. Thats it.

Go into the program "Run", type CMD, then in command prompt type "ping http://www. name".com or "website name".com" and hit enter. It should give you a list of various IP addresses. Just type in the IP's into the URL and you get onto the "blocked" URL.

Man, I seem to be helping everyone hack their school computer.

My school has it (heaven't read all the replies), and theres a way to get out of it, so they can't control your computer...

In our school, you can open up a word document type anything, then try to log out without saving, it will tell you, you havent saved your work, Then click cancel so it doesnt log you out or save your work, then it would deativate the program so they couldnt watch/control what you was doing...

Hope i explained that well, anyways guess its for the best there watching you.. :-k

(The one knows how to create a virus that will wipe everything from someones computer and not make the actual computer work again.)

Me too, it's called Installing Vista.

Here we go with the bashing of Vista bandwagon again  .
