Another mass ban??

Featured Replies

Well this is spawned from a topic i found on the RSOF about a "Woodcutting highscores glitch" and it really seems like a ban, BUT any person that has not logged in once a person has been banned that would have a ranked skill does not show up. So basically, if i have 60 wcing, and jagex bans say 1,000 accounts that have wcing over 60, and the new lowest level needed to be in the top 1m is 59, i wouldn't appear on the list until i log in. This means Jagex has banned as many as 4k+ accounts!

Its like this for many other stats, in fact, i think most skills no longer have a 1m ranked user.

Coincidence? i think not.

Post your thoughts.

I don't think so.

Sorry, but there have been countless topics about this kind of thing. I don't have the exact quote, but one of the Jagex Mods said on the RSOF that they don't announce major bans anymore because the bans that were once major are now something they do almost every week. Bans happen, even if they aren't announced.

Jagex does a lot about woodcutting autoers, no matter how much people say that they don't. No news here.

How do you mean "hurt large numbers of innocent people..."?

Okay, think about it this way with these steps...

1.) Jagex picks up on Rule-Breaker violating Rule 7.

2.) Jagex bans both the userid of the person that broke the rule and the IP (or IP range) associated with the Rule-Breaker. Unluckily, this happens to be the IP (or IP range) of a cybercafe or library or just a whole ISP micro-net.

3.) ISP/Library/Cybercafe goes into serious legal uproar for something they have been wrongfully hit for (and already by law and/or TOS can't be responsible for), as its' far larger number of innocent users now no longer have access to RuneScape.

OldJoe, this is what I was referring to when I said "hurt large numbers of innocent people" ... This is why I am against IP blacklisting ... So, is my point made? :?

As most people have stated, they don't announce mass bans anymore, because it happens nearly weekly, if not more. However you can tell when they do huge mass bans by going to the Ogre Enclave (Blue Dragons) or the Wilderness (Green Dragons) and you'll find nobody there except trainers and money makers. Also if you find just a few people in f2p cutting yews or willows, rather than hundreds.

It always happens.

Imagine if you have played runescape for five years+ with 6 99 stats and 200M+ cash, a full phat set, and had never autoed in your life. Now imagine if you had a little brother who somehow got into autoing. He starts autoing and jagex catches him; they ip ban him and you both get banned.

Another situation; you go over to your friends house who is autoing. You start to play on that computer and when jagex catches your friend you both get banned.

And another for those library/internet cafe users; many people share those computers and it is possible someone has autoed.

So unless jagex are very sure that they've caught the autoer and no innocents, they won't IP ban.

I agree with the use of IP bans being made that could other innocents, andd due to that, they really can't stop the sale of RS gold or the creation of autoers.

On another note, i haven't noticed that they do bannings every week, and it was just odd to me, and a bit surprising that they ban upwards of 4 thousand accounts without the public's notice. That and i never watched the disappearance of accounts of the high scores.

Even if they did IP ban it wouldn't do anything, it's not hard for them to just change their IP ;) As for the mass bans, Jagex are always banning hundreds of autoers per day, nothing new. :P

They can't sue JAGeX. The accounts and the items on them belong to JAGeX and JAGeX alone. We are only "renting" the accounts basically. I've never heard that you are allowed to sue to get back other people's items to you.. :-k

By the way, this is all in the licence agreement that you agreed to when you created an account.

j0xPu5R.png

The Hi-scores get updated pretty often, and yes players do get banned which means that some players around the 1 million mark will suddenly be on the bottom of the table. It does however take a bit of time for it to work out who's moving up and down in rank!

There you go, from; 15-16-670-51573886.

Good job Jagex, be gone with the autoers!

The mass banning most likely happened pretty recent and not all people have logged in to their accounts yet. Check it again in some time and you'll see a difference.

phata_elise.png

there are only 999993 people on the strength highscores (i've dropped off)

Hmmm....

I need a new siggy, get round to doing it later.

Probably.
