Goodbye, my final thoughts on Jagex, RS and where its headed

Featured Replies

Tip.It, Runescape. This is goodbye. I am officially retiring. I may return for a short while for the release of summoning, but i wont hang around for long. I've loved my time here at Tip.It and I've decided i will share my final thoughts on Jagex and Runescape.

Where Runescapes going

I think it's heading in a bad direction. Now, I'm going to compare Jagex right now to World Wrestling Entertainment. I have been an avid fan of the WWE since a young age, but like Jagex, it's moving away from it's longtime fans, or players in Jagex's case, to a younger demographic. For a good example of this, just look at Hotnswoggle. For you non-wrestling fans, he is a LEPRACHAUN (seriously Vince) who is Vicne McMahons, the owner of the WWE's, bastard son. Lately, Vince has been putting Hornswoggle in matches with regular sized wrestlers (hes a dwarf) like last week, Carlito. On the most recent Raw episode, Mr McMahon asked Hornswoggle to get him an ice-cream sandwich. And Hornswoggle wandered around the arena, until he found a door with a sign saying "Free Ice-Cream Sandwiches". He walked in and Carlito was there. Then, here is the ridiculous part. To escape Carlito, Hornswoggle picks up a spray paint can and sprays a black door on the wall. He then runs around Carlito, making a vroom sound and "jumps through the door". Carlito tries and hits the wall. This is sad for the WWe. I think this is what Jagex is slowly becoming. They are turning there game away from the hardcore fans to the "Miniclip generation". Please, Jagex stop.

Runescape

I still think Runescape is a great game, but the updates aren't what they used to be IMO. When i first started Runescape, I was excited about every update, because pretty much all were great. Now, Jagex has decided to get real tough on cheaters. The 3k stake limit is a real awful example of this. 3k? A cap on staking, not so bad. But 3K! I'm not an avid staker, but 3k every 15 minutes is ridiculous. They are losing more customers than they are eliminating RWT. And the Grand Exchange, an ok idea turned awful. I said in one of my posts how the Grand Exchanged wouldn't ruin merchanting, and it has. Not ruined it, but Jagex has now completely done a swerve on where everyone thought the Grand Exchange was going. Stopping the players from putting up items from 5% above or below the "Market Price". This was a really bad idea IMO. Players would've been able to benefit much more greatly from the GE much more if this limit was not there. Now with all the talk of Jagex delting the player trade option completely, i am disgusted. Runescape was a community, now it is moving further away from that. Jagex, i hope you see the error of your ways and return to the old days.

Jagex

Jagex, i have one thing to say to you. Listen to the veterans, the Tip.Iters, the well-thought ideas and the brilliarn plans. Turn your game back towards the 13+ age group it is intended for. Lots of players have great ideas, take a look.

That is the end of my time here. That could very well be the final post i post on Tip.It. Good Luck, to all, and hope you may see me again. :boohoo: :(

+1.

He does know what's going on unlikes otheres who just say "Get Use To It!! It's Jagex's Game. You Noob. Crybaby. Etc."

Sad when someone has a decent point and everyone has to go be an [wagon] about it.

Took words right out of my mouth. :-k Well done community =; Anyway, although I don't agree with grand exchange update I'm losing my faith in Jagex. Unfortunately. <.<

Ps. Have fun irl!

It's such a shame that this once intelligent community has gradually turned into a bunch of immature 12 year olds who think that they are tough by flaming people on an internet forum.

I have to agree. Jagex have lost the plot, they seem entirely focused on new players and don't seem to care whatsoever about their existing customer base.

If you don't like the game anymore, don't blame the game, blame yourself. It's not more than logical than games initially are more fun than in the long run. You aren't the first person to lose interest in a game after a while of playing. That happens everwhere.

Imo, the game is only getting better.

+1 to everything. You hit the nail on the head, and it's exactly why I plan to leave after December unless Jagex pulls a miracle.

Imo, the game is only getting better.

By the way, how can you honestly think the game is getting better? Come on, man, are you that naive? The economy is in ruins because of the poorly implemented Great Exchange and the absolutely horrible idea of destroying staking. Rumors are abundant that soon Jagex will remove trading; for people to even consider something so ludicrous as a possibility says that the community is terrified of and does not respect Jagex at all. That wouldn't have happened if they had "made the game better." RuneScape is in a Dark Age.

It'll pass though, because all the people who were here for the staking/GE will eventually say enough is enough and throw in the towel. Then, they will be replaced by naive children who don't know any better (and therefore assume how things are now is how they have always been) and once again, the problems will be brushed under the rug. It's a cyclical effect. Jagex doesn't give a damn about their players; whatever they say is just lip service to preserve their reputation. They know that the players who become veterans will leave; but it doesn't matter because they are expendable, and Jagex abuses that knowledge to the extreme...

i agree with hbk_hossack and my self am going to stop playing runescape after 2 years other than holiday events the game has goten more of a and i hate to put it this way kiddy feel the over all look is some what childish and over all i bugs me the other thing is all the things jagex trying to do to save pepol from dieing or being scammed i find some what funny i have had many scams tried on me i have had pepol sell me cheep rares in the wild swap itmes use false numbers you name it and odds are iv done but i find things like the ditch of stupidity just plan stupid it has no place in runescape if you are to stupid or greedy to be scamed in the wildy its your own fault knowi under stand not knowing about the scams but come on i was 13 years old and new about most of them i spent hours reading fan sites and forums to under stand how this game works and your saying that other 13 year old + players cant do the same? the other thing that bugs me is all the warning msgs that are in the game now, when i did new quests i loved the risk of going into a cave and maybe dieing and trust me i have died a lot i have died a lot and lost 1mill + in itmes i know a mills not a lot but my grand total is onl about 4 mill 7 if you count my crystal bow and yet i still had fun now i fine id boring and childesh now i know this is a long post and im sorry my skill in makeing things esey to read is 1 o well so long runescape maybe all come back to you one day but it seams unlikely.

Naive because I simply like the game and it's updates? That doesn't make sense at all. It's not like your opinion is the truth and those who don't agree are naive. The GE has only existed for a couple of days so it's not even possible to say the economy has been ruined, because it takes longer to be able to see the effects of the GE. Also, I don't think the Runescape economy can be ruined simply by a system that mediates trades.

Destroying staking... well maybe it'll be what it was supposed to be. A fun minigame to play.

Oh, and Jagex won't remove trading, I hope you're not being serious about that.

I don't think the community is terrified. With every update, you have people that don't like it. After all, there are a million+ members. No matter what Jagex does, it'll always be wrong for some people. I've seen lots and lots of people using the GE and being happy about it. So I'm not very convinced of your argument.

It'll pass though, because all the people who were here for the staking/GE will eventually say enough is enough and throw in the towel. Then, they will be replaced by naive children who don't know any better (and therefore assume how things are now is how they have always been) and once again, the problems will be brushed under the rug. Right.. stakers are mature people, and all new players are naive children. Maybe some arguments wouldn't hurt here.

Jagex doesn't give a damn about their players; whatever they say is just lip service to preserve their reputation. They know that the players who become veterans will leave; but it doesn't matter because they are expendable, and Jagex abuses that knowledge to the extreme...

I'm not even going to reply to that if you don't even have a single argument to justify your position.
